Your locs are so beautiful! Thank you for sharing with us! Using oils (carrier oils) can attract lint; in the same way lint will stick to your hand if it has oil on it & you grab a towel, blanket, sock, most fabrics, etc. If oils are making their way into the matrix/center of your locs, it's likely the lint is going with it. Oils aren't water soluble which can add to the difficulty of actually getting it (and the lint) fully washed out of your locs even when it may feel like it's been cleaned from the surface.

Thank you and thanks so much for the helpful info! I only put oil on my scalp occasionally and almost never on the lengths of my locs (1-2x ever). I will definitely keep this in mind!

Looking good! You should have probably done two or three 20 minute soaks. Your water should be a little more clear after the 2nd to 3rd soak.

Thank you! I was thinking of doing it again, but wasn't sure if it was too soon. Should I do it again my next wash or wait a few months?

Keshia1390 yes, you can do it at your next wash.

Next time leave out the baking soda. That is deposits of baking soda. As soon as I stopped using it, that didn't happen anymore. Use lemon juice as well to counteract the smell of ACV

First off, your locs are gorg!!! That’s the debris that got pulled from the locs. If you brush your locs, that helps to bring out more of the debris or to a place where you can push/pull it out. When you do your next acv it should bring more to all out!

Beautiful braidlocs! I'm approaching my 1 yr. lociversary with microlocs in September, but I started 5 years post big chop so was able to start with about 20" of hair. I state that to say that I started my loc journey with long hair loc "problems". I get my hair colored (dark) just about every time I get a retie -- which is every 8 weeks -- so have never had lint issues. I wash every 2-3 weeks and do scalp massages with a blend of oils I like or a hydrosol on a daily basis. Prepoos and deep conditioners are a must. Scalp massages are definitely your friend! If you incorporate them into your routine on a daily (or at least 3-4 times a week), they may help your flaky scalp issues since blood circulation and sebum production would be stimulated on a regular basis. I'm still a product junkie (I've gotten slightly better since getting microlocs😁) and I don't have any issues with buildup. At my 2 yr. mark I'll likely try a ACV detox as well.

Thanks so much for the tips 💕. I will definitely consider the scalp massages!

I'm only a year in my microloc journey and dandruff and lint build up in the back of my head is embarrassing! I will have to dye mine black and hopefully, it will hide it. I can't put my hair up in a ponytail for that reason.
@keshia13904 жыл бұрын
Congrats on your loc journey! I feel your pain! I hadn't noticed my lint issues until I started doing videos again and would see it show up on camera. I'm still debating on dying mine. I'm trying to wear my satin scarf around the house when I don't go anywhere. I'm also trying to focus on my scalp health more, wearing my hair in high ponytails, and avoiding clothes that have alot of lint. Hopefully this will help me 🤞🏾

If you find that your scalp is less flaky when you don't oil your scalp you may have seborrheic dermatitis. I have it and it can flair up when you use certain oils
@keshia13904 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I've been looking into that and I have my suspicions that I may have that as well. I haven't went to a dermatologist to verify yet. Lately, however, my scalp hasn't been as bad. It's actually the best it's ever been.

@@keshia1390 Yea it has periods of calm and then flair ups. I've had it for years but I wasn't diagnosed until earlier this year when I had a bad flair up from a product I tried that almost made me cut my locs. Luckily I was able to get it back under control after seeing a dermatologist. Check out this video. She does a great job explaining what causes it and how to manage it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpvQdJWXf9prjZI

I use Sulphur 8 for my SD. I also use a mixture of neem oil and coconut oil if I’m out of sulphur 8 and it works just as good

Try using a tee shirt to dry instead of a towel which will leave lint.
