To those unfamiliar with the poem: Nature's first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf's a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay ~Robert Frost

They were so young when they wrote this, mid teens. I’m a parent of a mid-teenager. All I can say is those two sisters got some incredibly good parenting. Their parents gave and/or nurtured in their daughters a faith and confidence in their talent, passion and what they, themselves, valued artistically and musically. As a parent, I am humbled by that every time I listen to this beautiful music.

The sun shone high those few summer days Left us in a soft, wide-eyed haze It shone like gold It shone like gold But just as the moon it shines straight So dawn goes down today No gold can stay No gold can stay What if our hard work ends in despair? What if the road won't take me there? Oh, I wish, for once, we could stay gold What if to love and be loved's not enough? What if I fall and can't bear to get up? Oh, I wish, for once, we could stay gold We could stay gold We're on our way through rugged land Top of that mountain we wanted to stand With hearts of gold With hearts of gold But there is only forward, no other way Tomorrow was your hope at the end of the day And gold turns gray And gold turns gray What if our hard work ends in despair? What if the road won't take me there? Oh, I wish, for once, we could stay gold What if to love and be loved's not enough? What if I fall and can't bear to get up? Oh, I wish, for once, we could stay gold We could stay gold All of my dreams, they fall and form a bridge Of memories where I can get back All of my dreams, they fall and form a bridge Of memories where I can't get back to you What if our hard work ends in despair? What if the road won't take me there? Oh, I wish, for once, we could stay gold What if to love and be loved's not enough? What if I fall and can't bear to get up? Beautiful probably but "best of all time" seems exagerated... it is probably because you don't know enough great singers yet... come back in december 2024 and we will see if your words remains the same... StarryLighthouse You must have missed the part that said "one of" right before that. Also I have heard a ton of singers (no where near all of them) and certainly enough to have come to my conclusion. Furthermore this is a statement based on opinion and thus you not agreeing with it certainly doesn't make it false or change the way I feel about it.

First song that got me into First Aid Kit. Thank you WXPN in Philly for once again introducing me to a great band and song. Got to see them this past Summer at The Fillmore in Philly and what an amazing show they delivered. Took my BBF for her Bday, and she didn't even know FAK, but since she's a big Fleetwood Mac fan and they are one of their major influences, she greatly appreciated the version of Songbird they did and high-fived me for it. So I got another FAK convert. These sisters just rock on a major level that I am most thankful of.
