Bro thanks for the tip, I’m just wondering is that normal for an alarm to go off whenever you plug it in?

Thanks for this. I looked and looked and this is the only BRK 9120B vid that I could find that was helpful. The instructions that come with it are so terrible! I just needed to know exactly when that little plastic bit was pulled out and if the drawer needed to be opened to do it right. The instructions seemed to say that I did need to open it and I didn't think that was right. So thanks a bunch!

Is the actual smoke sensor on the face of the alarm? I know the alarm trips when smoke gets inside the ionization chamber, but where does outside smoke actually enter the alarm? Do the notches on the sides where you twist/mount the alarm into the brackets have any smoke sensors? I don’t think they do, but I just wanted to make sure. Great video. Thanks for walkthrough.
@LEARNINGCHORDS2 жыл бұрын
there are videos and photos of the inside of an alarm that shows the chamber and where the smoke enters :)

Thanks for your video. Question, can I leave the existing wires( the white,black and orange) or do I need to use the new wires that came with the new smoke detector?
@LEARNINGCHORDS3 жыл бұрын
don't forget the donation link in the description. if the connector plugs in and the unit powers up, you should be ok...

Should you connect the orange wire to ground if you don't have a network of other detectors?
@LEARNINGCHORDS3 жыл бұрын
no... you do not connect it

The main one in my apartment 9120B was set off by what I can only conclude was an accident as I was not cooking and the other two also began going off as well. No matter what I did, if I got one stopped the others kept beeping and so on. I ended up having a friend remove all three and replace the battery in each and within no more than 3 days they began to chirp gain. I held the button for a few seconds on the newest one which silenced the other two older versions as well 86RAC. Since being out of town the last time, which I am frequently, the green light on the 9120B I have noticed flashes on and off relentlessly. I’ve done something wrong and I’m afraid if I were to need them, they wouldn’t respond appropriately and the staff at my complex doesn’t want to deal with me after my reporting mold in the ceiling ac registers, only after my almost 3 year old and I being sick back to back since moving in, reported a toilet that’s entire tank is cracked and asked inquired about the possibility of previous flooding once I noticed that the majority of each room’s ceiling has either been cut out in huge square and rectangular sheets of Sheetrock or has water stains that look to have been painted over. I was told that it wasn’t water stains or damage, it was bleed through. Bleed through from what exactly if not water stains? Now they’ve sent me a lease renewal increasing my rent and the only repair they’ve ever done, a sink that went from a slow drip to a steady thin stream of water every time we used the bathroom sink is back to leaking again. I am very leery of calling in a maintenance work order for the sink or the smoke alarm because of how I’ve been treated in the past especially after not once or even twice but three separate occasions coming home to find my partment he been accessed without any written notification of why and being told it must have been someone who knew me yet the utility closet that was being accessed only the property staff have key to be able to unlock and open, but I’m not financially in a position to up and move!

How did you snap out the connector of the old unit. Do you have to pinch something, or do you just yank it out.
@LEARNINGCHORDS3 жыл бұрын
i am a guy== we prefer to yank it

There is a tab you push away from the connector, using a flathead screwdriver
@dougbender44015 жыл бұрын
Works great if you have the same wiring connector. If you are replacing from a different manufacturer, well you are S.O.S.

Good thing it fits the old bracket I hate the old one it scares the crap out mr because it waits 10-15 seconds to beep when replacing batteries not right away.

Does this one really need to be hard wired? I was just going to run it on the battery. But no green light came one. I'm not spending $200 on an electrician.

I just bought a house with the 9120B series. Used house it chirps about every 30 sec to 60. I didn't put a battery in it. Why does it churp?

@tatyanafiddis-stewart14123 жыл бұрын
@@joshuahandwerger2896 could be that they have expired. There is info on the back that tells when to replace. Mine chirped 5times every 60 seconds and that when I discovered that info on the back saying that it needed to be replaced.

You are actually off a little bit. Ionization smoke alams respond faster to flaming fires, photoelectric responds better to slow smoldering fires.
