First Alert Smoke Red LeD Flashes

For me, I removed AC and DC Power (unplugged it and took out the battery). Without a battery in it, press and hold the test for 10 seconds. You should hear the alarm start, then fade out (draining the capacitors). You can then install the battery, then plug the unit back in. It should go to Green On, Red Flash every minute. Everyone is correct, saying that the detector is latched. This means it was a unit exposed to smoke / gas / power anomaly and it's storing that information in memory. Removing AC / DC power, then draining the remainder of the charge by pressing and holding the "Test" button will clear that memory.

Just because I'm slow, the steady green light on and the occasional red light means it's back to normal? Stupid alarm is messing with my sleep and work😅

It telling you that it has gone off. If you were not in the house and didn’t know, that it’s way of telling it has gone off due to smoke when you were away

Me too. I have the same one. I heard it go off one day after a shower. Put it on silence. I read that the red led blinking should go away after 15 mins. But feel like it's been on

picainches I had to hold in the test button for a few seconds for it to clear finally. Even before when I cut the AC power and took out the batter it would still not reset. Only holding the button worked

I had/have 7 of these units, 4 of them have done this, I switched them out, but the reset thing works. The odd thing is I have the AC hardwired with batt backup and they talk when tested, you set the location, but when they fail they wont talk and just alarm. So thats how I tell its most likely a false alarm. Its scary not being able to trust these things. The reset by test button worked on my last one, its a pain to swap out the ac hardwired part so I have been doing it as they fail. I just wall around and look for the flashing Red one.

How To Reset a First Alert SC7010BV: First shut off the smoke detector breaker then remove the battery and then press and hold the test button for 10-15 seconds. You should hear the alarm, then fade out (draining the capacitors). Then install the battery, then turn on the smoke alarm breaker. The Power LED should turn green

It's Latch Feature. Just press the test button to shut it off.

Temple 92 will it sounds again if not reset or is that just how you know which alarm went off? Can’t easily reach mine.

It’s blinking red because you have to reset it by pressing the test button it’s probably right off

That tells you that has been triggered to indicate when the alarm that has been activated

Sorry this was a internal video I put up, there is alot of interest in this subject, if you are having issues with yours you can reset them as per the one comment here. But really I did that on 2 of 4 bad ones and some kept failing, they set off the whole house in my case and its crazy as they were installed in 2013 and I thought was doing a good thing and would get 10 years out of them as I swapped all mine out at the same time. Now I mix and match vendors just in case that brand starts to fail at some point my eggs are not all in one basket. Be safe and don't take chances its a false alarm. I tell my family to not chance it one day it wont be a false alarm. Especially with CO2 that is deadly, the false alarm has always been just the audible with no voice location, when I test mine they give voice saying fire fire fire, and the one that trigged the alarm says location, when they fail mine were going off but just the audible fire sound no voice. I have to run around sometimes at 2AM to find the bad unit and reset. Thats why I started to replace these.

So more false alarms tonight, this time they actually talked and said both fire and then stopped and said C02, but never gave a location so really do not trust these things, I changed 3 of 8 out, guess I have to remove all of these things. It could be wiring related so I wont recycle them to the mfg quite yet..... it really is un-nerving how you can't trust these things.

My smoke alarm in my kitchen does that. My dad replaced all the batteries and it still did it. What does a red blinking light mean? Is that bad? Also how do i stop it?

I just had one do it tonight again, no clue what it really means, I removed it from the AC source and replaced the batteries, when I plugged it back in it still flashed red, so I pushed the test button it beeped 2 times and green light came back on. Sounds like you can try to push and hold the test button and see if it resets. If needed try again and hold longer maybe that will reset it.
