The answer could be (8,3,3). Here's how.. After factorising 72, the sum of possible combination (6,6,2) and (8,3,3) is same, i.e. 14. Other combinations have unique sum. And after knowing the house no., shyam still couldn't guess the ages as the house no. might be 14, else he would not have asked for 3rd clue. Then comes the 3rd clue, the oldest girl... which means only one girl is oldest, pointing to (8,3,3).

The rope question or answer isnt correct. By folding the rope you are totally destroying the presumed timings.

The presumption should be that both ropes burn with possibly a non-consent speed along their lengths, but that it's the same for both ropes. So you note where the flames meet at the first rope that was lit from both sides, and then you lit the orher rooe st that point and one of the other ends. When the flames meet again, that should be 15mins.
