The reason Predator didn't kill Arnold right away at the end was because he considered Arnold a worthy opponent and wanted a hand to hand fight.💪

Some reactors get it and for some reason some don’t. It’s clear the Predator looked at him as a worthy opponent for honorable hand to hand combat. Looked at him and thought “You fought well. You deserve an honorable fight. I’m gonna drop my weapons and kick your a$$ myself.”

@@TbcycojiUm. What? A beast with cloaking tech and laser weapons? Ok, sure. It's basically a Space Samurai. It has its own code of honour, respects its opponents and will fight them on equal terms if they are 'worthy'. This is a thing that a lot of movies don't cover these days, honourable combat is pretty much a thing of the past.

Also, if you think it looks terrible in the movie, you should see early pre-production footage of the mock-up suit they used. It was sort of a pinkish hue, more insect-like and looked like a cheap kid's costume. If I remember right, Jean-Claude Van Damme was to have been part of the original cast, but he could not be convinced the final Predator would not look like that and left the film because of it

Yeah, that was a strange remark. What's she comparing it to? Mainstream film effects today look like cartoony garbage that's not even trying to look real. The Predator in this looks anywhere from amazing (uncamo'd, and some of the quicker camo shots) to like ordinary CGI (when jumping around in camo). It's still by far the best version in the franchise.

Hi Alyska.. When ambushed in the jungle and you don’t know where the enemy fire came from, what Arnie and his team did, is what they were supposed to do. Lay down heavy fire in the direction you think they may have come from. To stop the enemy from firing back. You might hit something, you force the enemy to keep their heads down, or force the enemy to retreat. This happened in the Vietnam War. Near the end the Predator does the same, not knowing where Amie shot from, it lays down heavy fire at the trees.

Rae Dawn Chong worked with Arnold and Bill Duke (Mac) in "Commando" and said that Bill Duke was one of the most intimidating men she ever worked with. He's certainly great at being menacing, but he doesn't get credit for what a good poignant yet restrained dramatic performance he gave when Mac expressed his grief over his friend Blain's death.

If you didn't know, Arnold's first film was Hercules In New York from 1969. At the time, he was "Mr Universe" and due to his name and accent, he was billed as "Arnold Strong" and his dialogue was over-dubbed. But his breakthrough film was Conan The Barbarian (1982) - this time billed with his actual name, but dialogue limited to just a few lines (and he goes up against Mr Voice-of-Darth-Vader, James Earl Jones). The rest is history, lol.

There are two clues in this movie telling you what the Predator is about the first is what Anna says " The locals call it El cazador trofeo de los hombres. The Demon Who Makes Trophies of Men " the other clue is when Dutch tells Anna that the Predator didn't kill her because she wasn't armed saying "No Sport."

Not a wast of ammo. "Spray and pray", if you know something is there you do all you can to hit it before it hits you. Same as you noticed later when the predator can't see Dutch. "What is it just shooting randomly?" As far as why it collects skulls, it's a trophy hunter. Same as hunters on Earth putting trophies on their walls.
@waterbeauty85
@waterbeauty85 13 күн бұрын
That's sort of like the "mad minute" used in the Vietnam War. Following the doctrine of "To fight the Americans, you must hold them by the belt buckle," the enemy would use the concealment afforded by the darkness and the foliage to creep up on your position unseen and get close enough that you couldn't use air support or artillery without dropping ordinance on your own guys. Then they'd pop up and attack from up close and try to overrun you. Mad minutes were used to prevent this by laying a heavy volume of fire into the surrounding area at random times to kill anyone sneaking up on you or at least scare them out of trying to sneak up on you.

Funny Fact: The actor who played Poncho got in just as great of shape as the rest of the cast but he got decimated by mosquito and ant bites so that’s why he’s covered up for most of the movie. Which is hilarious because when you think about it from his perspective, he’s going to be in a high octane action movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Carl Weathers, who are two of the most perfect physical specimens in human history, and he couldn’t really show much of his body because he got decimated by bug bites.😂😂

When you have an area where you know an enemy is hiding, you know the enemy can pose a credible threat to you, but you don't know where they are and can't risk trying to flush them out, you just delete that entire area in hopes of taking the enemy out.

Sure there was plenty of good movies before and after but somehow movies today very often feel so... bland. Games are suffering same issue. As you mentioned, game walkthroughs existed but they weren't always easy to find. Took me two months to make it all the way through that game, which mirrors the movie's plot VERY closely. The films dont answer most of your questions, but reading material does. Non-spoiler info: It comes from a race of beings who are a Warrior Society. They ritualistically hunt the most challenging prey they can find on various planets to earn rank and honor amongst their own kind. It stalks to find out who is the ultimate or strongest target, then it sets up a fight with them that requires less of their advanced technology, like hand to hand, because it's considered a more honorable, or more challenging kill.

All your questions at the end... This was never intended to be a series of movies. Just one movie. This was it. But of course it made a lot of money and the studio wanted to make more money, so they threw together some more movies that were not originally planned. You live in an age of boring movies where writers explain everything in the first 10 minutes and wrap it all up with a bow by the end. A generation or two ago, movies let the audience figure some things out, and some things might never be explained. What was it? No idea. Where did it come from? No idea. Why was it here? Hunting for sport, and to collect trophies. Why did it collect skulls? For trophies, same reason human deer hunters have deer heads on their living room walls. Why did it fondle the skulls? No idea, but it made it seem extra creepy. Was there more than one? Not in this movie.

Did you realize Hawkins and Hopper are also names used in Stranger Things? The Duffer Brothers, creators of Stranger Things, have mentioned in several interviews their love for 1980s movies, and it’s pretty obvious that Predator is one of the works they borrowed from.

They are not wasting ammo..ffs, I'm so tired of watching people complain about that scene. In the military, especially special forces, you are taught to put as many munitions as possible down range to suppress or eliminate an enemy...and you are taught to trust whomever is doing the shooting knows best. Go read Bravo Two Zero a book written by a former S.A.S. member - Andy McNab - he describes the exact same thing done by him and his team in the first Iraq war.

also in defense of the predator, he doesn't know the scorpion injects you with venom and can be lethal, he just saw that the human killed something so small and went to investigate

Hi Alyska, it's awesome you're starting your Arnie journey :) He is one of Hollywood's GOAT's! This is a decent movie to start off his back catalogue, please react to his other amazing best movies like The Terminator (1984) & Terminator 2 (1991), Commando (1985), Last Action Hero (1993) & Total Recall (1990)

Predator 2 is an underrated movie. It takes some risks, which do not pay off well enough to make it as iconic as the first. But they pay off in ways which make it a really great movie on its own. Aliens vs Predator is... not great. I'd even say it's lousy. Yet it manages to be heads and shoulders better than Aliens vs Predator 2.

The reason for the insane shootout when they first encountered the Predator was that they were thinking of attacking it based on human conventions. Nothing can outrun a bullet, moreso multiple machine guns and rpgs. but this thing is otherworldly and, from what we can tell, can leap, run and evade far beyond human comprehension. Plus, and the very MOST important part...it looks really really cool

Two future governors were in this film: 1) Arnold became governor of California; and 2) Jessie Ventura (the big guy with the big gun, who was also a longtime pro wrestler) became the Governor of Minnesota.

22:14 Actually, they're not just shooting willy nilly into the jungle. That's how jungle warfare is fought. It's akin to how it was in Vietnam. If you know the enemy is in the brush then you let loose because you're never going to get a clear view of your enemy in the jungle.

16:26 That's what makes it great. The wait. The anticipation. The suspense. It's what some modern horror films lack in particular.

Arnold Schwarzenegger first movie not the Predator but "Hercules in New York" made in 1970 (but before that he had already had small roles on television) After that, he had several films, but among them, the most notable are "Stay Hungry" in 1976 and "Pumping Iron" in 1977. His first serious film was "Conan the Barbarian" in 1982, followed by Conan the Destroyer in 1984. The film with which he made his mark in film history was probably Terminator 1, which was also filmed in 1984 on a relatively not too big budget, but Terminator 1 was a huge success and brought in a huge of money worldwide. For a long time, Americans wanted to force Schwarzenegger to change his name, so he acted as "Arnold Strong" in the 1960s and 1970s and always got Italian roles instead of Austrian or German.

When they were making the movie they had to use fake heat vision because actual heat vision in a jungle is unwatchable. Everything is hot!

I saw this movie in the cinema back in 1987, and Hawkins' death scene still gives me chills. Predator 2 is not a bad movie, as many say. It's a good movie, whose director failed to understand what the director of Prey understood. Predator is a slasher movie, disguised as sci-fi, where the psychopathic killer is an alien and not a human being. In addition, Predator 2 expands the lore of the predators, answering some of the questions you asked, at the end of your reaction.

Predator is stronger 1 on 1 vs a xenomorph but the Queen is too big. a seasoned predator with a full compliment of weapons including his shoulder mounted plasma cannon will beat a queen, but without it the predator will struggle.

What do you mean by "when you still believed in Santa?" Are you trying to say that Santa doesn't exist? 😥 Kevin Peter Hall, the Predator actor, stood 7 feet 2 inches tall. The same year, he also played Bigfoot in Harry and the Hendersons. Have you ever heard of a Trophy Hunter? That is the reason for all skulls. Now you need to watch Terminator.

Re: the excessive use of ammunition. A story I once read was that the director wanted to show increasing technology differences between the commandos and the predator. The studio execs said no, we want more gunfire and explosions. So the director inserted those two ridiculous scenes to give the studio what it wanted while quickly using up the ammunition so that he could get back to the story that he wanted to tell. Also, I would recommend watching Prey (2022) next. The quality of the other sequels are iffy.
