What a difference 3 games can make. Gary Rowett's perfect start continues, and finally we win away from home. #OUFC & #Millwall fans let me know what you thought of this one.

Harris missing what should have been an easy tap in was a bit disappointing but we take the three points need to carry this on at Preston next CMON OXFORD

Excellent performance. I suppose my only quibble was Rowett shutting up shop so early in the game. I don’t see what Phillips brings to the team bar “experience”. Ultimately we got the win, so can have no complaints. 9 points out of 9 now, which was much needed. Looking at the league, we’d might have started to look a little adrift if we’d had an average set of results

3 wins in a row has really turned the season on it's head. I still am ok with Phillips coming off the bench. I think Rowett knows he can use him to play up front and hold the ball up late in the game, which makes me think Scarlett may be going back. Were you bothered about Rowett shutting up shop in this game? I think it was the right thing to do. Glad the players were able to get through it as I think the defence will get a lot of confidence form that game.

Cracking result and marvellous Christmas presents for all Oxford fans. It has certainly removed doubt that the board acted in haste. Having said that many many thanks to Des for all he did for us. Today's match reminded me of our build-up and execution of the play-off final. Certainly now a case of in Gary we trust. Thanks for all your vlogs Ian, keep up the good work and happy new year. Cheers Malcom. Rowett has done an excellent job so far. Confidence is flowing with the players and we are playing with the same determination that we did at the start of the season. 3 wins in a row has turned the season on its head. Maybe we can get a 4th today. COYY!

Still a big fan of Des but 9 points from 3 games you have to hand it to Gary and his team plus the players. Also the away fans were magnificent today. Happy with overall performance and team with the only gripe not sure what Philips has done to secure appearances. Tyler (favourite player) has done OK but seems to be missing in the goal scoring positions. All in all everyone must be happy with end to 2024 and now he start of 2025. COYY!

3 wins from 2 has turned the season on it's head. Buckingham may have done the same, but we will sadly never know. Quite confident that we might get something today too. I am ok with Phillips coming on off the bench for now.

Happy New Year, Ian! This felt like a very encouraging 'all team' performance, no frills or aimless possession passages, just good graft and doing the basics well. Very well coached. I hope that Elliot Moore is fit for Saturday.

Cheers Ted, there was a bit of meaningless possession for the first 25 minutes, but then Oxford seemed to grow into the game and stopped doing it. Was a very encouraging win and makes me think we might get something today. COYY

Watching a Millwall vlog and their comment was that they got ‘Rowetted’, we were well set up and stifled their creativity. You must be doing something right when the opposition fans use your name as a verb! It can be argued that our recent form is simultaneous with players returning but it’s clearly more than that. Rowetts Championship knowhow is making a difference and there are several players who have already significantly improved due to the new system. There were a lot of positives today but the thing that really stood out for me was PK celebrating winning a free kick just outside of his own penalty area as if he’d scored a goal. It showed that the team spirit and determination to win, which had started to wane, is now back & turned up to full volume. The next few weeks of comings and goings are going to be interesting. I fear for Edward’s and think it’d be a shame to see him go if he doesn’t get a new contract as he’s clearly class when fit. With Joe Bennet expected to be returning to fitness it’ll be interesting to see if he gets a place in the squad. Nelson is likely to return to Leicester and Thornley has to be a doubt. Regardless of if Moore is fit to go again at the weekend we will have to get a big CB in. Negru is doing well at Salford but doubt his recall is being considered unless options are limited. Scarlett is also beginning to look like he’s not fancied by Rowett so Tottenham could recall him and Ole Romeny may be a direct replacement for Goodwin who will surely go out on loan. There’s talk of Ebiowei being recalled by Palace due to lack of playing time which would free up another spot. Dale is another whose future is looking uncertain. There’s also the option of recalling Currie. There’s certainly options to free up squad places and with loans being recalled it wouldn’t be at all surprising if we had as many as 5 or 6 new players in by the end of the window.

Cheers Paul, I saw that Millwall Vlog too. They would know what it is to be Rowetted. This felt like a mature performance, and the players really stood up to the test well as Millwall clearly thought they could bully us today. It's amazing how quickly it has turned around as I actually feel we may get something today. Ebowei has already gone back, and I imagine Nelson will too as there is no point keeping him. I have a feeling that Dale might be a player that Rowett likes because of his work rate, but all lot of other players are up in the air. The fact that the board are willing to spend a ton of money on Romeny both excites and terrifies me. COYY
@PaulScowen2 күн бұрын
@ assuming it goes through it is a lot of money for us. The owners do seem willing to fund their stated ambitions. If we stay up it bodes well for next year when we’d be going into the season on the back of a year of Championship revenue. I’m sure you’ll have watched some of Romenys’ highlight videos, although they had to scrape the barrel for enough footage. His numbers aren’t amazing either. Hopefully he isn’t just an owners purchase to monetise his Indonesian connections and we will be getting someone who has been properly scouted for the first team. I’m also much more relaxed about today and feel we’ll be competitive but we should remember this is the Championship… I’d take a point right now

Didn’t see the game today as a friend’s birthday got in the way. We are certainly getting a bounce from the new manager and are playing with confidence and appear to be enjoying playing again. The window is going to be interesting.

Good point about penalties, we are due a bit of luck aren’t we 😭. Hopefully Moore and Placheta’s injuries aren’t too serious, we need them desperately. But talk about a proper team performance today, you felt there was definitely a real sense of heart and fight from the whole squad. Onto Preston and coyy 💛

Hi Piggy. Is Placheta injured? I did not hear this. That would be a real pain if he is. I imagine Moore will not play today or in the FA Cup. Every game I think we are overdue a Penalty. Maybe today will be the day and we make it 4 wins in a row! COYY

Questions for you Ian, and other Oxford fans: What positions are the priority for strengthening? Who should we be looking to move on? Which player are you most afraid of losing?
@OUFCFanView2 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I would say Oxford need strength through the middle. We need a Centre Back, Defensive Midfielder and maybe 2 forwards. Probably likely to lose Kyle Edwards, Ben Nelson, Jordan Thonrniley, Will Goodwin (loan), none of which are really too devastating to lose as they are squad players.

Happy new year to all, hi Ian, 🎈 🥳 happy new year to you you mate, another honest opinion of the game, wow what an amazing turn around, it's strange how play 9 players from last season, in the last 3 games and got 9 points, we started the season with 9 last season player's and won game's, then injuries came to light and the side started being inconsistent. Their beliefs have come back , battled together, for each other. It looks like Ole Romney is signing for us over the next 48 hours , for €2 million , he is on KZbin he has done his fair wells to his side. He looks good , Indonesia's future international, although played for Holland of all ages groups up to under 21, but can play for Indonesia as his mum is Indonesian. So on to Preston the weekend , we need the same commitment, and desire to win. Achievable . Up the yellow and blues, 💙💛

Thanks for the info Graham. €2M Euros for players. It's a crazy time to be an Oxford fan. Amazing win, and great gritty performance. Rowett has certainly injected confidence back into the group, as they are playing and performing like they did at the start of the season. Now I think we might get something at Preston. I think this was the same team that started the first game of the season. Also suddenly we are 5 points away from the relegation zone too.

Yes, great to get that first away win at last. Congratulations to Ruben Rodriguez ! Disagree with you about Harris. He was lacklustre, why do we keep playing him when we have Scarlett. I agree with some of the comments about Phillips, major disappointment. Placheta best player in this game. Onward to PNE Saturday and I have a feeling we can get something out of this game too. I hate to knock any of our players but really Harris needs to go in January window.
@OUFCFanView2 күн бұрын
Hi Lorraine. I guess we will have to agree to disagree with Harris. I expect Rowett above all else thinks his work rate is good. I have no problem with Scarlett starting games either though. We are yet to see anything useful from Phillips which is disappointing, but Placheta has been fantastic for Rowetts first 3 games. He is like a new signing. I have a good feeling about today's game too.

Nice to get that first away win feels abit like cheating on des abit but the results have been great so far so lets get back on with it supporting rowett, Des will go onto great things and we will maybe live to regret it but if we stay in the championship then it will all be worth it. Abit of grit was needed and that is what we did. Have a great 2025 ian
@OUFCFanView2 күн бұрын
Cheers Jake, hope you have a great 2025 too. I'm trying not to mention Buckingham too much on videos as we have to move past it, but I stil think he could have turned it around. He should have a long career ahead of him and who knows maybe he will come back to Oxford again at some point. On the here and now though, Rowett has had a fantastic start. COYY

Hi Ian omg it feels so good. Monkey is off our backs finally rubin was fantastic today which was great to see. But I can't fault the team st all do you think there should be a couple of changes for preston simply because he really can't play the same team 4 games in a row. Specially so close to each other. But we will enjoy tonight happy new year and I can't wait to go to preston on Saturday
@OUFCFanView2 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment and hope you are well. 3 wins in a row has completely turned the season on it's head. I have a good feeling about today maybe it will be 4. There will be a change as I think Moore is injured so I think it will be the team that started the 2nd half. Hope you enjoy Deepdale.
@JuryPlanet3 күн бұрын
Very happy with the win glad that away win finally came however I don’t think we should be getting to comfortable with how it’s going so far as even Rowett said himself the 100% win record will end at some point (although I wouldn’t mind if it didn’t)
@OUFCFanView2 күн бұрын
Yeah that's fair and thanks for the comment. It's nice to have confidence back again though, and I am pretty confident about today's game. A 5 point gap feels nice.
@robertallen9132 күн бұрын
I think you might be right about Scarlett. The guy is a goal scorer, but do doesn’t provide the work rate both Buckingham and Rowett ask for. I suppose I was just worried about shutting up shop early. I was hoping we could nick one on the counter attack and make the game safe

Great win. Ex WBA player Phillips offered nothing and it got a bit nail biting at the end. Who is Des Buckingham 😮. Milwall deserved to lose with that strip.😊
@OUFCFanView2 күн бұрын
Cheers Ian. Phillips has not done much since joining Oxford, and a lot of fans don't think he deserves to be in the squad. It was nervy at the end as I was desperate for us to get that first away win. Millwall looked a really poor side.
@davepangolin49964 күн бұрын
I can’t help thinking that 4-4-2 would shore up the centre midfield and Harris’s energy would be better spent by having someone to run off/for. Vaulks needs more aggression and energy

Are you still not happy with Vaulks Dave? I think he's been good for the last 3 games. The way Rodrigues pushed up high it almost felt like a 442 at times.
@davepangolin49962 күн бұрын
The formation comment is just a bit of fantasy football from me. The system is what it is. Let’s not pretend that Cardiff Plymouth and Millwall were division 1 standard. Vaulks and all the midfield,, including Brannagan need to get more aggressive and energetic,,,
