First Bath for Kitten who Meows in Protest!

This cute kitten was living on the streets I was able to trap her and bring her back to the Catty Shack :)
I’ll be going back to trap her Mom to get her spayed so she has no more babies in the future!

She was very dirty and also had quite a few fleas, I use dawn dish soap and let kittens soak for at least 5 mins to kill the fleas before combing out and washing off... this cutie def felt better afterwards (she smelled better too!) :)

Did you know that washing a cat about once a week makes them hypoallergenic to people with cat fur allergies?

The best way to do it is to slowly fill the sink with water instead of putting them in a sink full of water

I notice that Chris is careful to keep the kitten’s head well above the water. The water is also shallow enough that the kitten is able to feel the bottom with his feet. Upset but not drowning. Kitten will get even by being cute while pushing glass of water off the table, or the like!😊😊❤

Having watched Kitten Lady, I was surprised he didn't lather up around the kitten's neck, before scrubbing the body, to make sure the fleas don't head north.

@@qienna6677 Makes sense. He did say that the fleas were killed by soaking kitten in Dawn dish soap for 5 minutes.

@@srldwg Yeah, but you can't really wet a kitten's head enough to 'soak' fleas off there, so it's better to create that barrier first and then use a washcloth to clean the head to get what few are there...or so the Kitten Lady says, but then her kittens that she fosters tend to be neonates and need a lot of care.

And this is how you do it folks! Chris has your back, kitty! When I adopted my kitty, age 1, from shelter, I gave him a bath much later in the double wide kitchen sink. He howled like a fire engine truck at the top of his lungs. I was sure my apt neighbors would think I was torturing the cat! It went this way 2 more times. Then, he started sitting real nicely and putting his paws up on the middle part of the sink so I could get his tummy shampooed . Told him just a little rub a dub and we’d be done! He’s 10 now, grew long hair cause he’s part ManCoon. Only now, he sits on my legs and I get n the bathtub with him. He’s loves me in there and I admit, I love it too! Oh, and he no longer cries out anymore. He cuddles into me , rub a dub!

I gave my three cats baths right after each other, to get rid of fleas.it was literally a wrestling match in the bath tub for a few hours,suprised the neighbors didn't call the cops thinking it was a domestic dispute.bath time was over when my kitty climbed up my back like a screen door,with his claws out,lol

Food grade Diatomaceous Earth can be rubbed and dusted off cats and dogs without harm. It helps kill fleas and larva without water. Just make sure it's food grade. You can even sprinkle it throughout your yard and house. Sprinkle and let set for 24hrs then vacuum up.

This reminds me of years ago we had a hole in the kitchen window screen and one of the neighbor toms liked to come hang out. I guess my own momma cat felt she had something to prove one day because despite always being a house cat she decided to go out. Of course she got scared, hid under a car and by the time we coaxed her out was covered in oil. Took me and my mom a good two hours to get her cleaned up, yowling the whole time and glaring at me since she wasn't getting any sympathy and I kept telling her it was her own fault for being stupid.

Chris, I bet you didn't try that with any of the big cats in the old days. That kitten will never thank you or forgive you for the bath, but he/she has a much better chance at growing up healthy and safe because of your help. And even in the kitty mind, your goodness will outweigh that horrible, terrible bath rather quickly. P.S. And we know that when a kitten is stinky, that is really dirty.

You did great. I know I have felt the same way in having to bath both my cats and dogs. It feels as if you are assaulting them.
