Yo, if you didn’t figure it out the crafting benches do attach to chests near them they just need to be right next to them. You should see a little yellow beam connecting the two. (You can’t access the chest inventory but all the available resources are able to be placed, if that makes sense. IE, placing a chest full of charcoal right next to a furnace allows you to take the charcoal from the chest) Currently playing along as well, I figured out how broken lightning is and just beat the boss last night :D (Also, pro tip, try interacting with the angle statues >:)

I find it funny you asked if you can pull from chests, suggested maybe if you put them next to the benches 2 episodes ago, but decided not to try it. And still havent figured out you were right. Its just needs to be touching the bench.

I suggested it and then I think I was told no so I backed down lol. It hasn't really been _that_ annoying so it doesn't really matter.

If you use ice bullets it gives you ice chunks from killing things. Also poison gives you rotten wood and fire gives you charred wood.
