We got off to a late start on Day 3, so I decided to put off the task of chain cleaning, adjustment and lubrication for later in the day. What I didn't expect was that the chain would become so loose, that it might come off entirely. I've never had this happen on any other motorcycle.
My guess is that a stray stone from the gravel track found its way under the front sprocket cover and managed to push the chain upward in a way so as to cause it to get jammed. Fortunately, we had our trail tool kits with us, and we were able to fix the situation after some trial and error. We live and we learn!

I also ride solo. Couple of things that have served me well are 1. Keep the machine in as much good shape as possible. It's a tool and should be maintained as such. 2. Keep basic tools with yourself like a spanner kit and screwdriver set etc. When going in remote areas have a tyre inflator and puncture kit together.

@@elite_kuls9523 And exactly same here, had a fall a month back inside a reserved forest, had injured my leg lifting my bike from puddle, but the dumb in me just now realized that the Lever broken would have been a huge huge problem, and just now unlocked and realized that damaged bike is biggest problem..that day, only problem was lifting the bike..

@@elite_kuls9523 something similar here. I was offroading on an unmarked trail in a national park, the ground gave way in a tight turn, only for my bike and i to fall into a ditch. It had fallen wheels up, and there was no reception. The whole ordeal was.... Fun :')

I have actually done this kind of trail section on my gixxer 250 alone with no tool kit. I was just riding, see if the bad road ended somewhere near Sataun in HP /UK Border. I'm so happy and glad and thankful and grateful that all I got was a puncture and that too I found out after 2 days. Had I been stuck in a situation like that, I'd have literally died. Cheers man, Xpulse looks solid.

Used to happen to me too. You should check your chain. I found out that one side of one single chain block was broken which used to expand under pressure and the chain would slip from the sprocket. Had had two nasty falls because of that.

Similar situation happened with me when I was solo riding home to Rudrapur from Ahmedabad. The chain came off but thankfully i got to know it in that milisecond and didn't give it gas. It maybe worthwhile to install one of those chain lube squirt tubes near the front sprocket. For those who frequently tour, every 400 km you release lube to keep the chain well lubricated. Or switch to moly-lithium lube. Slack chain is survivable but not a dry one.

Reminded me of the time I almost lost the chain but found it later but lost the chain link because I used extra grease to lube the chain the previous night before the ride. Fortunately I got an empty pick up auto to take me and the bike on the highway to the closest RE service centre around 20kms away. I usually ride solo. This happened when I was doing around 120kmph on my RE Thunderbird 350 😁
