I only found out about this designer when I saw Sylvester Stallone's watch. The skull ones are b*tt-ugly, but others have grown on me. I admire the tech and Mille for the marketing to get as much moolah as he can. He's successfully made the watch industry wait to see his next creation.

I feel Richard Mille watches are such a distinctive look that they will not stand the test of time. It reminds me of when a new car comes out it looks really cool, but then the look fades on you and you don't find it that attractive. I do feel due to the enormous prices these watches go for there are going to be a lot of unhappy rich people down the road. I collect watches that I love and not for investments so I will never be disappointed. Sure it's nice when they go up in value but I keep my passion for watches as a hobby and I invest the old fashioned way in a well diversified portfolio of stocks and bonds and stay the course.

RM is expensive because you, who is not in the market for a RM, know what a RM is. They are immediately recognizable, and you can not find one for less than 100k. They're supposed to stand out at a miami club and let everyone know they have $100k on their wrist.

Hard to compare since most of the large legacy watchmakers you've mentioned are caught in a cultural Cul-de-sac of tradition wherein it's almost impossible to innovate without begging the wrath of the horological cartel. RM has broke free from that and as a result has lots free marketing "air time" on the wrists of athletes, film and music stars - and with it, all of the stereotypical downfalls of an exotic luxury brand. You're trying to compare a Rolls-Royce to a Lamborghini.

@Baserocklove If they really think it's so cool and best watch in the world since they're making them they would get a staff discount or make their own in the factory or the factory would give them one for free. Most people that work in Bentley buy a Bentley when they finish working their and make enough money. Even in factories in china that make watches hand assemble the mechanical components of the movement after the pieces come from the machines which is exactly what Richard mille is doing google Chinese automatic movement assembly factory. real watch brands have hand finishing even making the parts of the movement by hand that is why they're so expensive because of the labour of making the parts by hand and assembling them by hand instead of by machines like this scam Richard mille does
