I heard about the brand from the ex F1 driver Felipe Massa who told people he contacted RM in the first years of the company to get a sponsorship but because the RM was only starting they didn't had the money. Because Massa and his manager really liked the brand RM made a deal that in the first year of partnership they would only give him one of their best watches, RM 006 at that time, and since then Massa was wearing their watches, yes even the very expensive ones, in every single race he had in F1.

@@janis1699 you can't possible be comparing THE ONLY MONA LISA painted by LEONARDO DA VINCI which he spent years, potentially even over a decade, trying to perfect every little brush stroke to a line of watches which are produced in the thousands annually. What makes it expensive is the exclusivity and probably the watch movement too
@reemobrooklyn35572 жыл бұрын
I don't think people in the comments understand the value of watches to the rich. They are pretty much assets. It's no different than owning a painting. If you purchase a rare watch it's almost guaranteed it will go up in value over the years. So they try to buy them new hold it for years then the value will 5 - 10x. Rolex and Audemars Piguet watches sometimes 10x in the matter of months after they come out.

They might have innovative materials, complicated mechanical side etc. but they sure are freaking ugly. I have hard time to understand why people like these? Do people really like the watch or do they like it because there's "status" with it? I still think even Rolex isn't worth the money. You'll get better watch with better design for much less (f. ex. Tudor, which is owned by Rolex but..) But at least Rolex looks good. If you want a "racing" watch, buy a Heuer Monaco. At least that watch has some real legacy behind it, it's unique and works the same.

RM owner to Timex Owner: "what time is it?" ... Timex Owner to RM Owner : "2:00 pm" ... RM Owner: "That's exactly what I got ... but it seems to be 2 million times more accurate to me!".

Funny thing is the Timex is MORE accurate. After a few days the RM will lose or gain a few seconds and the Timex will still be perfect.

Wouldn’t matter if they were just 1k. Every one that I’ve seen is to thick and hideous to consider. I do appreciate all of the materials, hard work and marketing that goes into them. Good on Richard for tapping into a market. Thanks for the informative vid 😎👍🏼

I could buy one but I’d rather buy more rolexes or PP, AP. RM looks like my sons toy watch and feels light like a toy. What’s more they are not even given enough respect to be placed on a bracelet but a rubber strap.

Thanx for sharing information on RM watches. I could never own one of these watches but I can understand the allure of them in certain circles. Nowadays there are some very wealthy people out there. They need a way to spend their money and get the attention from others that they crave. Others, like myself, never even imagine a watch of this lineage. I have never seen one in real life. These watches look gaudy to me. But, who am I to judge?
