Rory, just stumbled onto your channel while watching other rail/travel/adventure channels I watch on a weekend. Thank you for your "warts 'n' all" description of your experience with V/line (and their coach contractor, Dysons). I see you follow a similar format to Dylan Bowes (Dylans Travel Reports) of checking out the stations and the interior features of the services upon which you travel. As a former V/line employee, I'm glad you incorporated the customer unfriendly practice of making passengers wait until the last minute before being allowed to board the service. This has to be one of the most disgraceful aspects of rail travel in Australia and I apologise to everyone that has to endure it. Seems like a cattle herding practice straight from the Amtrak book of how to upset customers (I know from my own experience of Amtrak many years ago). Your coverage of the journey was most informative and I would recommend your channel to anyone seeking information on public transport services in Victoria. I'll mention your channel to Dylan when I next comment on one of his clips, also I'm in regular touch with Michael Downie of DownieLive based in Vancouver BC Canada who is a fan of rail travel (and adventure as well). Congratulations on this video and now I'll troll through some more of your offerings. Cheers from Michael.

Glad you've made that video before the N Class and N Sets are replaced by new modern long-haul VLocities. I might be able to try travel on the Albury Line from Southern Cross to Albury before it is taken over by long-haul VLocities. So I gotta take a glimpse before that happens in the not-too-distant future or late or early December 2021. As the date for the new trains are set to be by 2022. Good ole Yass, about 45 min from my parent's place, which is also where I grew up, so the run along the Barton Highway between Yass and Canberra is quite familiar to me :) Good to see you showed HMAS Otway at Holbrook. They used have stairs next to the sub, so you could climb up. Did you get to see the famous Dog on the Tuckerbox at Gundagai? What I found most interesting, was the price difference between between V Line and the XPT to Albury. Just goes to show how much a ripoff Trains for NSW, and the XPT, is.
@RoryDing3 жыл бұрын
I didn’t get time to visit Gundagai cuz the stop was only 10mins, but I’ll go there when I get chance! Exactly!! Travelling on Vline is way cheaper!!
@ballantynemoyes80193 жыл бұрын
@@RoryDing You wouldn't have seen the Dog in any case as the coach would have stayed on the Hume highway and the Dog is behind trees in a service area. It's about 8 kms to the north of the town. Great video, btw. I did this trip a few times many years ago. It hasn't changed much!
@ballantynemoyes80193 жыл бұрын
arokh72: I agree about the pricing. Perhaps it's something to do with the proportion of the trip spent on the train versus the bus. With NSW trains you have the choice of travelling to Cootamundra or Yass Junction and then transferring to the bus (it's the same bus from both stations) so more time on the train? Who knows? :-)
