And you explain it and despite that the tank keep doing the same thing five time straight, patience change to the furious desire to kick him.

I remember my experience as a sprout; I was pretty much always a solo player, so being alone in the overworld never bothered me. But then I got lost in the Black Shroud and couldn't continue the MSQ. That's when a mentor player /telled me, "Hey, you should go to the Carline Canopy!" I couldn't reply because I was in the free trial, but I went there anyway. I didn't recognize who they were because I'd never seen their toon before, but then they invited me to their party and we started talking to each other. "Are you new to the game?" "Yes, I started yesterday." "You're level 15 now, aren't you? You should do the Novice Hall." "Oh, I know that place. But I never tried it." "You should, I'll let you leave the party so you can do it. When you finish all of the levels I'll invite you to my party again." After I did all of the novice hall stuff, I came back with better gear and an exp ring. I was sort of expecting him to leave, but he invited me to his party again and helped me complete my hunting log and helped me complete my Black Shroud aetherytes. I remember meeting them over and over in the overworld during hunt trains. They're also the same person who ended up inviting me to a hunt linkshell and I've been enjoying doing those for a while. I'm still in the free trial since I'm still in highschool and can't usually afford to buy games but hopefully next year I'll buy it and surprise them and show them how far I've gone!

So I was in a pickle, especially with TP management back then. A couple kind people from the NN decided to join in on my journey and they were more knowledgeable than me. Honestly, it’s thanks to them that I started to understand how the bard worked and how to “gain a firm grasp”. Nowadays I hope they’re doing well since it’s been about…. A few years? But knowing them, they’re probably savage raiding. Nowadays, I help clear parties in PF and teach mechanics and even help those starting off on dungeons and teaching how their jobs work. My god this is touching. I've been playing this game non stop for 2 months now, and the reason I am so enamored with it is exactly this sort of interaction. I feel like I have made a crowd of new friends just by joining, and you have captured that feeling in microcosm. Your composition is amazing, your pacing is beautiful, and you have put into 8 minutes what I have been struggling to put into words for over a month. Thank you for this video, I'm showing it to everyone i know.
@luckystars23723 жыл бұрын
I'm happy this video has captured your heart. FFXIV has such a wonderful community indeed. Composition... ah. I'll have you know I had BIG troubles with the composition. To think that I once thought, "after he waves goodbye, there'll be tons of events and the former sprout will find himself fighting Emerald Weapon Extreme with a new bunch of friends" And that Emerald Ex fight had a SCRIPT to follow as well! Then I did countless other experiments and finally just said "Ah whatever, let's keep it simple." and this is the end result. Silly me over-thinking this video's script for 2 months straight! *bonk* Don't worry about it, I also struggled to define the main aspect of this film. Was it to show how beginners felt lonely at the beginning? Was it to inspire mentors to do better and for good mentors to keep it up? Was it to make a simple "first video" of a time-lapse of a sprout growing up? Was it to show the circle of kindness? Or... was it to show that lalafells are the master race? All these things and more that I couldn't remember since they were minor (except the latter) revolved around my head and I became dizzy on what to focus on for months to come. At the end, I'm glad it turned out okay. While I'm not the best in camera movement, transitions (too much fade/wipe transition usage), special effects, graphics settings, gshade filters and all those other stuff, I'm pretty good with busting out my LB3 of love and emotions for the Final Fantasy 14 community. :D Also, I had every intention of replying to you asap but I just came home from work when I read this comment, thought up my reply... and fainted on the bed. OTL Forgot, forgot... Thanks for watching and thank you too for recommending it to your friends! \ o/

After all, how can they give tips and teach if they don't know what to say? Also, the player queues... gosh, the dang long player queues. This is like a year late but One of my best friends who I’ve known for years introduced me to the game - he got into it back in 2019, and has been trying to get me to play it since. And long story short in October of 2022, we were in their basement and long story short we (me + 2 of my friends) never looked back LMAO But a few weeks after they got us in, they also pulled us into another discord server with a bunch of their friends (a mix of seasoned players and other friends who were still playing the expansions) and its just. We have a lil community and this video made me cry a bit anyway i just sent it to our discord like thanks yall for making this game fun :,)

I think my first Satasha dungeon run back in 2015 there's a kind Roe WHM guide us (me n other DPS) through the dungeon n gave some tips. At that time there's no Mentor System/Novice Network. I was forever grateful to meet that Roe WHM n now a crafting mentor myself, would help any sprout who'd run in dungeon (though some i forgot the mechanics)

Literally was on my own in 2016. Had to learn everything on my own and was always nervous when I had to run dungeons or trials. I took real long breaks throughout years and only as of this year did I join an fc and made friends that actually play often and I beat all of ShB. I've been having a much better time in game now and getting ready for EW.

As much as my experience is slightly different, as I have my friend with me when I start the game (funnily enough I played ff14 like 10 years ago with my uncle, he’s a legacy, but I don’t remember anything from ff14) When I reached around level 30 and on, my friends sometimes aren’t online to help me with trials and dungeons. I ended up trying duty finder for the first time without NPCS or my friend, and as a dragoon, I think you can guess what happened in the titan fight- I died, since it’s the first time I see a KB attack. I panicked and was profusely apologizing in chat since I didn’t know the mechanics beforehand, and surprised that not only everyone were super chill about it, they even helped me with the mechanics. There’s also other few times where I floor tanked quite hard. Either being wiped at second phase for multiple times, or just confused at the markers in general. Everyone was super kind to me though and I somehow powered through ARE because of that. Honestly don’t know if I can finish ARR without them! After that point I barely dies in battle thanks to all the times I struggle with learning mechanics. Now I’m just a lv90 dragoon going around helping newbies with dungeons and trials mostly at nighttime, since there’s barely any player in Materia at 3am for dungeon completions XD

Man, I wish I had this game experience, all these years I've been by myself and alone with random people in roulette dungeons, I don't get why people say this game is a great social experience. For solo gameplays I just play Dark Souls, it's more challenging at least
@luckystars23723 жыл бұрын
Hm... I'd say it's definitely different depending on which server you're on! Here in EU, I did wacky stuff solo as a sprout and folks PMed me, wanting to chat, raid together and have a good time! In NA, I also chatted a lot in dungeons then the folks were like "Yo, add me after this dungeon dude. 8)" In JP... welp. I'm all alone in JP, mostly. No one talks to me or has ever PMed me. The Novice Network is dead, no one chats or tells stories there like in the other servers. No one even helps anyone there, it's a dead channel! A lot of my friends are different sorts of former and current sprouts from the Novice Network who loved telling stories with me about their experiences in life. The JP server (from what I've seen) is sheer deafening silence when it comes to stranger to stranger interaction in pretty much everywhere. Maybe you're on the JP servers? :( Edit: Dark Souls is still super fun yes yes yes
@SateLight3 жыл бұрын
@@luckystars2372 JP servers sadly has a closed connection. Either you play with your friends, or playing alone. Lots of people there don't do hardcore stuff with random people, it has to be a friend or from an FC. I still find several PF sometimes, but not as many as the other continent. This is, of course, just my experience with it on Mana... Language barrier also a factor, so even if you found yourself a friend there, you might want to study Japanese too.
@luckystars23723 жыл бұрын
@@SateLight I've studied Japanese and I hang out with the ToiToi folk every now and then... Language barrier is still a barrier until now (JLPT N3 level) and sometimes, it's just hard to get into any JP person's "circle of friends". OTL They're a fun bunch to chat with, though! But of course, there's always this feeling that there's some sort of wall separating us both and I can't fully bond with anyone in that server...

@@luckystars2372 This is very true to me... The first time i'm playing FFXIV is actually on Mana (because i'm asian) so i found myself very lonely and eventually switch DC. I kinda want to play there again to meet cool people (because i know Japanese FFXIV community is pretty calm and helpful compared to NA and EU ones), but i can't because i don't understand Japanese... My character there is still at ARR, right before fighting Shiva, because i got no party for several hours, and that's my call for the Mana DC. Meanwhile i got so far on Jenova (almost got my Blade's Providence), but the people there are not what i hoped for... not the type of people i wanna hang out

@@SateLight Jenova? That's NA, right? My NA experience has been highly political because I played there before the NA elections. I kinda didn't like it so I kept playing in EU and JP. Surprisingly, my experience is very different from this, having only played BDO before FFXIV, i didn't know anything about the holy trinity nor do i know what a tank or a healer or a dps is. didn't have any friends to help me either and i started playing on NA server, though i'm nearer to JP servers (as i can't speak nor read Japanese). managed to get into a really nice FC but.. sh*t happened and that FC is no more. as a sprout i didn't know anything, didn't know what's tab target, or AOE or anything like that, and being super new i got a boost for my job (bad choice, btw) and just did MSQ. first dungeon, Sastasha, never did a dungeon before, as i started as a Tank, i was "expected" to know what to do but i'm one of those minority in the playbase that got a toxic healer in my first ever dungeon, and that totally gave me PTSD til this day, i basically stopped playing. i was so scared to go into a dungeon, even with FC mates. fast forward 2 years later, ShB was a year in and i found out some of my friends are playing FFXIV, asked them which server they are and i very quickly transferred servers, thanks to my friends and many nice JP players, i got some confidence back, even though til now, unless a friend or FC mate or my husband is playing with me, i still have Tankxiety, but thank Mr Yoshi-P for the trust system, i can now go into dungeon to level my tanks without anyone eyeballing what i do all the time. Edit: because of what i experienced, i didn't want another sprout/new player to experience what i experienced and i will randomly give out gils or minions or mounts to a sprout and go out of my way to be nice to sprout.

Is it fine that I took pride at the mentor message in the beginning? I lack the crown since I have alts but I still pinch in when a newcomers is in a dungeon and wants to hear how the dungeon works after I ask them if they want to know some tips. It just feels normal to me. After all, I've been a sprout myself. Also that post credit shot? Hit me right in the heart.
@luckystars23723 жыл бұрын
Take pride! But as Yoshi-P (our Highest of the High Priest, Bringer of Light, may the heavens above bless him forevermore) once said, it's best for more experienced players to not spoil/be too pushy with tips on how things will go. Most of the magic of the game does occur after all when encountering something unexpected. Please continue giving tips to newcomers when they ask for it! When they don't, it's also alright to go slow and let them familiarize themselves with how the bosses work or how the dungeon is done- I honestly want to relive the magic I felt when I was a beginner... Ah, such bliss. The post credit shot... I actually never planned that in during the story-writing process. It just came to me when I was about to make the credits scene when we were done filming the main plot. I was like "Oh crap... now what? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" And so, I asked for help, watched a ton of Zanekonpu videos and other stuff and in a span of a month, lo and behold, the credits' plot from 6:32-7:20 was created. Just the plot though. The filming process, greenscreening, frame-by-frame masking, bgm picking, sound effects recording, scheduling and this and that took another month... Aftcastle scene took 3 retries to film, chocobo running scene took 4 tries, Idyllshire scene had 11 retakes (and 3 major changes), Frog kill... took 2 weeks of greenscreening, final scene was done in a day. I'm glad it hit many people in the feels. Other people are interested to see a part 2 of the mentor smiling at the end but... I honestly have no plans whatsoever on what to do with her.
@BastardTraveler3 жыл бұрын
@@luckystars2372 Will do! I'll cut out some of the info I give and just say "Be ready to move a lot" or something. I feel ya on the reliving part. Makes you really nostalgic, no? Don't have that much experience in editing but I do have some with screenshot experience so I can relate just a bit. The creative process coupled with the actual work can be like a mountain. The result from it can be pretty sweet at least, no?
@luckystars23723 жыл бұрын
@@BastardTraveler Sweet? Ohohoh... not much. I'd say that there's a lot of regrets and a lot of things I cringe at whenever I watch my video and compare it to other people's. Like, I sometimes think... "I could have done better in this part." or... "Damn, didn't I use too much fade transitions? Well, unfortunately, I only know how to do two kinds of transitions anyway! Hahahah... It hurts." But I'd be lying if I said I hated what came after the editing process. I made a lot of people happy, everyone who participated in the video recording sessions had fun and I was able to bond with strangers. I'm from Asia, they're from Europe. To think that I'm making people halfway across the world laugh by interacting with them makes me feel... weird and happy. Yes, it's a mountain that you make with your own two hands. You put rocks one on top of the other and when you suddenly come to the realization that one of your rocks in the middle of the mountain isn't done right, you have to dig up all that rubble just to get to that certain rock. It's the same way with editing for me. Stuff that I notice very late are the hardest to correct and re-record. Because if I need to rerecord a certain scene, it has to be the very same weather, the very same Eorzean time, a lucky chance of not having too much people around and it has to be exactly the same amount of time. For example, if the clip that was wrong was exactly 6 seconds and 25 milliseconds, the rerecording of that clip also has to be 6 seconds and 25 milliseconds (+/- 5 milliseconds). Right on the dot, kinda!
