Day 1 of our 8 day tour of Tibet started in the ancient capital, Lhasa. We visited Jokhang Temple, one of the most sacred temples in all of Tibet, bustling with earnest local pilgrims since the early days. We also watched monks debate at Sera Monastery and tried some delicious local Tibetan food! TOUR COMPANY ☞ Explore Tibet www.exploretib...

It’s not always the reality what we see . Btw how we will know ,what is the real situation by just looking at such vlog . Do u really think someone will come infront of camera and say this the real situation behind the curtain? We all know, what is the consequences. And btw I don’t think more than 160 people will self immolate in Tibet, if everything is normal . U know that famous Indian proverbs.. hathi ka daath dekha ne ka alag or khane ka alak. Which in English it’s something like .. elephant has diff teeth for show off and different to eat . Btw how much of freedom does international media have in Tibet and China . We all know that

Excellent piece of journalism, a phenomenal documentary. Every country is sufferering and will suffer because of the SILENCE & INACTION for 35-70 yrs. What China's doing with the rivers is an obvious existential threat to billions of Asians, including the Chinese and we're not hearing about this from mainstream news, the U.S. Government, the UN or anyone else. It's clear that China's holding its Asian neighbors as "water hostages" . Chinese imperialism speaks volumes about how Chinese money has corrupted western politicians. Washington, January 9, 1964. Review of Tibetan Operations 1. Summary- The CIA Tibetan Activity consists of political action, propaganda, and paramilitary activity. The purpose of the program at this stage is to keep the political concept of an autonomous Tibet alive within Tibet and among foreign nations, principally India, and to build a capability for resistance against possible political developments inside Communist China. 2. Problem- To explain Agency expenditures in support of the Tibetan program. 3. Background and Objectives- At a 13 December 1963 meeting “The Special Group approved the continuation of CIA controlled Tibetan Operations [1 line of source text not declassified].” Previous operations had gone to support isolated Tibetan resistance groups within Tibet and to the creation of a paramilitary force on the Nepal/Tibet border of approximately 2,000 men, 800 of whom were armed by [less than 1 line of source text not declassified] airdrop in January 1961. In 1963, as a result of the [2 lines of source text not declassified] and as a result of the cited Special Group meeting, the Agency began a more broadly based political program with the exiled Tibetans. This included bringing 133 Tibetans to the United States for training in political, propaganda and paramilitary techniques; continuing the support subsidy to the Dalai Lama’s entourage at Dharmsala, India; continuing support to the Nepal based Tibetan guerrillas; the reassignment of a part of the unarmed guerrillas to India for further training; and the [6 lines of source text not declassified]. Operational plans call for the establishment of approximately 20 singleton resident agents in Tibet [less than 1 line of source text not declassified] two road watch teams in Tibet to report possible Chinese Communist build-ups, and six border watch communications teams [1 line of source text not declassified]. The [Page 732] [less than 1 line of source text not declassified] will stay in direct touch with Dharmsala and will conduct political correspondence with Tibetan refugee groups [less than 1 line of source text not declassified] to create an increased Tibetan national political consciousness among these refugees. The [less than 1 line of source text not declassified] was established in October 1963, and the communications center serving it, [1 line of source text not declassified] is presently being built with a completion date scheduled in February 1964. One of the most serious problems facing the Tibetans is a lack of trained officials equipped with linguistic and administrative abilities. The Agency is undertaking the education of some 20 selected Tibetan junior officers to meet this need. A United States advisory committee composed of prominent United States citizens has been established to sponsor the education of these Tibetans. Cornell University has tentatively agreed to provide facilities for their education. The Agency is supporting the establishment of Tibet Houses in [less than 1 line of source text not declassified] Geneva, and New York City. The Tibet Houses are intended to serve as unofficial representation for the Dalai Lama to maintain the concept of a separate Tibetan political identity. The Tibet House in New York City will work closely with Tibetan supporters in the United Nations, particularly the Malayan, Irish, and Thai delegations. The cost of the Tibetan Program for FY 1964 can be summarized in approximate figures as follows: A. Support of 2100 Tibetan guerrillas based in Nepal-$ 500,000 B. Subsidy to the Dalai Lama-$ 180,000 C. [1 line of source text not declassified] (equipment, transportation, installation, and operator training costs)- $225,000 D. Expenses of covert training site in Colorado-$ 400,000 E. Tibet Houses in New York, Geneva, and [less than 1 line of source text not declassified] ( 1/2 year )- $75,000 F. Black air transportation of Tibetan trainees from Colorado to India-$ 185,000 G. Miscellaneous (operating expenses of [less than 1 line of source text not declassified] equipment and supplies to reconnaissance teams, caching program, air resupply-not overflights, preparation stages for agent network in Tibet, agent salaries, etc.)- $125,000 H. Educational program for 20 selected junior Tibetan officers- $ 45,000 Total-$ 1,735,000 4. Coordination- This Tibetan operational program has been coordinated with the Department of State for a number of years. Specific operational activity has been coordinated with the Department of Defense and the [less than 1 line of source text not declassified] as necessary. 5. Recommendations- Barring sudden developments inside Communist China and Tibet, expenses for this long-range, politically-oriented [Page 733] Tibet program are not expected to exceed this amount in the foreseeable future. In fact, there are a number of probable economics, [1-1/2 lines of source text not declassified] for example. Nonetheless, this program will continue to require fairly large expenditures over a long period of time to keep the possibility of a non-Communist government alive to the Tibetan people. We recommend continuance of this program. Source: Department of State, INR Historical Files, Special Group Files, S.G. 112, February 20, 1964. Secret; Eyes Only. when you said "back in the days, there's more than 2million monasteries in tibet, but most of them are destroyed", I thought I misheard you, I have to rewind to make sure that was really what you said. Keep in mind the population of tibet is only 3 million, and back in the days, the population was much less(around 1 million at 1940s). Given this fact, 2 million monasteries sounds highly improbable. I am not sure if there's hidden agenda from the people who told you this kind of story. I hope not. but I can easily see how some people fabricate this kind of story for obvious motive. sad thing is most people just blindly believe these lies, no matter how ridiculous it is.

I'm coming from Urumqi, Xinjiang, China. I'm currently studying in France, every time when I talk about my home people will argue that it doesn't belong to China or so the western media said. There is so much info on the internet and it's hard to tell if they are true or not. I don't like people judge about my home just by hearing 100 or even 200 hundred so-called ”Uyghur“. Some of them organized hundreds of terrorist attacks. Please learn some about the local history and try to pay a visit. This problem is very complicated if you're not from Xinjiang honestly I really don't think you have the right to comment on what's happening there. A lot of the people in my home they can't speak English can't really express their thoughts but I can now. Although there is censorship in China, I didn't understand why the government did this back then now I do, what you hear from the news and saw on the internet ain't always the truth, You think BBC CNN what they always say on the internet are true? I bet 80% of the news was fabricated just to attract people's attention. I tried to avoid this kind of videos because I feel very sad and vulnerable, If the free speech really exists then it should allow having a different voice, there's another thing I want to say WE ARE ALL HUMANS despite the difference in culture or languages.WHY can't we just all get along? I have a lot of Uyghur friends and I'm an ethnic minority Mongolian, did those western media mentioned Mongolian people living in Xinjiang? We have 13 local ethnic groups living here. I'm thinking about making some videos about my home this spring break. I'm tired of this. PLEASE IF YOU HAVE A CHANCE VISIT ME IN XINJIANG. I'm Mongolian and a child of XINJIANG and I'm also CHINESE.

I totally understand. They made it look like the entire Xinjiang belongs to Uyghurs! My American friend who argued that Xinjiang should be independent had no idea that Uyghurs mostly lived in only Southern Xinjiang. And those who accused China of doing cultural genocide to Uyghurs have no idea that Uyghurs traditionally never wear hijabs and are best known for dancing in China. Those East Turkistan Uyghurs who are brainwashing Chinese Uyghurs and asking them to put up hijabs and stop dancing are the ones who are destroying a culture. Funny that western media never talked about the land reform which is the fundamental cause of the conflicts between Dalai Lama’s upper class and the central government. Yet they think they have media freedom🤷🏻‍♀️ Those Tibetan exiles and ET Uyghurs have been telling lies after lies, and western media take their narratives as if they were true and completely disregard explanations from the China side while those people fabricated countless lies such as using some photos of old Kashgar city under restoration and making a lie saying the Chinese government torn down Uyghur house, making a lie saying the Chinese government destroyed Uyghur tombs when it was local Uyghurs themselves who asked for better tombs...

Even the majority, Han Chinese, are hardly pure Han after thousands years of integration with other ethnicities. My father and his brother all have curly hair and tall nose. We are Han Chinese but we suspect we have other ethnic blood in the family but it is impossible to trace now. The purest Han Chinese are probably the Hakka people and the Taiwan president is Hakka but ironically she claims she is not Chinese😅

For those whom know only to say Tibet belong to Tibetan or thinking they know what best for them. Please do your own research on its history. Dalai Lama is not so innocent as most think of him. Do you know the history of Tibet before China take over? Do you know the term serfdom? It was the system back then. Do you know how the people living there and Dalai Lama treat its own people? Before 1959, the family of the 14th Dalai Lama possessed 27 manors, 30 pastures and more than 6,000 serfs, and annually squeezed about 33,000 ke (one ke equals 14 kilograms) of qingke (highland barley), 2,500 ke of butter, and 2 million liang of silver (15 liang of silver equaled 1 silver dollar of the time) out of its serfs. "Powerful lamas controlled everything in Tibet, where even the Buddha himself couldn't do anything without the support of the lamas," British military journalist Edmund Candler wrote his book, The Unveiling of Lhasa. The serfs and slaves, comprising more than 95 percent of the population, suffered from poverty and exploitation, and had no basic human rights, the paper said. The local government of old Tibet prohibited them from leaving their owners' manors without permission, or fleeing the manors. They had to be serfs from generation to generation. All serfs and their livestock had to till the plots of land assigned to them and labor for their owners on other chores. Once the serfs lost their ability to labor, they were deprived of livestock, farm tools and land, and degraded to the status of slaves, the paper said. www.bjreview.com/Tibet_in_50_Years/2009-03/05/content_182622.htm medium.com/race-class-history/tibet-the-dalai-lama-feudalism-slavery-and-the-great-game-10dd833272ac Tibet, under the eyes of Taiwan Journalist www.quora.com/Why-does-China-force-Tibetans-to-embrace-modern-life/answer/Richard-Wang-431?ch=10&share=3620de99&srid=prJyT Tibet Tragic Past before CCP take over www.quora.com/How-cruel-was-CCP-against-Tibetan-people/answer/Alexander-Finnegan?ch=10&share=5b7c8568&srid=prJyT And www.quora.com/How-do-Tibetans-feel-about-being-part-of-China-Do-they-want-independence/answer/Liam-Lu-6?ch=10&share=f196bc6f&srid=prJyT And www.quora.com/Is-Tibet-better-off-under-Chinese-rule-than-under-the-rule-of-the-Dalai-Lamas/answer/Jamie-Wang-45?ch=10&share=84e615f2&srid=prJyT

How to apply for a visa? I had heard that it is difficult to get into Tibet ! And do we have to be with a tour guide always?
@danlovesayu
@danlovesayu 3 жыл бұрын
@@Daisy-ml5ky Tibetan tour guides will follow where you go. You will need to coordinate with them and the tour agency on where you will be going when you reach Lhasa. Anything that’s plan on the itinerary, you have to follow first. Usually you will have 2-3 days to roam around Lhasa city after you finish all the remote places. You will need to let the tour guide know where you roughly be going. It’s still better to have your tour guide tag along as most Tibetans do not speak English. Some hidden gems which only local tour guides will know. It’s not that the tour guide loves to follow you but it’s part of tour agency and government SOP that each foreigner needs to be accompanied at all times except when you are sleeping! Hahaha. Anyway, places like Potala Palace must be accompanied by tour guide and you must follow their time which they reserved for you. You can’t just enter the monastery anytime. I stayed at Shangri-la (yes a little expensive) as I prefer the hotel as it’s nearby some popular tourist spots, including Potala Palace. You will need to apply for 2 visas. One is China visa to enter China. Another visa will be taken care by the Lhasa tour agency which is another document you need to show at the immigrations if you arrive Lhasa first. There are many ways to enter Tibet. I started my route from Chengdu city and we took G318 route. It took us 6 days to arrive Lhasa. One important tip is never ask anyone about Dalai Lama or talk about him. Best to ask your tour guide on some sensitive topics to avoid especially on politics. Tibetans are beautiful people and very friendly. Good luck and I hope you make it for the trip of your lifetime! If you work for a newspaper or media agency, your application to get a China visa might be a little harder. This is the info learn from my Tibetan tour guide. It’s a 50/50 chance. Oh, get a VPN before you fly if you want to post videos on KZbin or Instagram! It’s pretty handy to have one. I use Express VPN (yes it’s expensive) and it works all the time. I do not work or have any part with the company.

When it comes to Tibet it is important to know the following: "The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency's (CIA) Tibetan program was a nearly two decades long covert operation consisting of "political action, propaganda, paramilitary and intelligence operations" based on U.S. Government arrangements made with brothers of the Dalai Lama, who himself was not initially aware of them. Luman, It is Poppy, not puppy. Buddhism is suppressed through other means, not openly against individuals. Religion is important to most people but the poor Tibetans are overly devoted to religious rituals to a point I think it is a waste of time. I study and practice Buddhism.

@@benthekeeshond545 Buddhism is almost everything for Tibet people, from 1500 years ago, from the ruling of Songtsen Gampo period. As a result, this is a good thing. Before the introduction of Buddhism in Tibet, Tibet was very barbaric, fighting or even killing each other was like part of daily life. After Songtsan Gambo was introduced to Buddhism, the people of Tibet had spiritual constraints and behavioral norms.
