Great video, good to have this sort of content to show people what the day in the life of a primary producer on a pastoral lease is like.

Great vid, good team work, great system you have. Jasmine I hope those cattle do not turn left heading out of the restraining 'gate' 😮all a bit tricky ... I remember when Mardie, (Jack's maternal great grandmother) came up to our yards with morning tea, fell over in the middle of the yard, flat out in the cow mud .. she laughed & laughed .. lucky the house was not 2 plus hours away... funny as it turned out ... I'd be better off at helping Lou...😂

Wonderful insight to how it's done and what is done on a large property. Well done Ant for " having a go". Not something that every one could or would do. Done it with lambs a couple of times but cattle are a whole different beast. Keep the vids coming

From 25 y.ears as a stock agent, I agree, the closer you get your body behind them, the less distance they have to wind up with the kick, I speak from experience of 3 broken ribs when I was a young fella 😁. I must say for remote station cattle they were very calm compared to some I’ve handled. Nice action video

Outstanding well done Oldboy for hanging in there. I’d love to do the same thing one day. Keep up the great work. Young jack’s lucky to have you around.

Never seen that process. Good to see how it is handled. Another educational video, thanks to all for making this. Not sure how I would handle a 500kg (?) animal coming at me.

Great video Jack, Ant, Jasmine and your Dad. Certainly all hands to the pump. Very impressive set of portable yards. Seeing it in operation it looks like someone’s put a lot of thought into everything and how it all works and to make it robust. Even though the gates blocked off at the water point, is there a chance there still may be a few cattle that have not come in?
@jack_out_the_back
@jack_out_the_back Жыл бұрын
Yes there are a few that haven't come in this time, especially when there is so much surface water and the weather is cool. We actually had to drive through water to get to these yards. We do get all of them though, through successive trapping days and trapping at optimum times, using the information gathered from our cameras. 😊

Those cattle ?? Shorthorns?? Droughtmasters?? Fresians?? Great video on how to see it done...Ants a bit timid with the stock, that Carlton draught will toughen him up if it doesn't kill him. Just kidding about the fresians.... Cheers, great stuff.

Nailed it! Shorthorn base with a droughtmaster infusions. Further down we have an infusion of Hereford (on the spinnifex country) and right down the south there is a bit of Santa Gertruidis.

What is the sheep tag for ?
@jack_out_the_back
@jack_out_the_back Жыл бұрын
We use them for indicating that they have been vetted that year. As opposed to bang tailing. We will be changing over to the NLIS once we have a smoother operating system for recording.

Nice video! What is the purpose of the mouth tool insert?
@jack_out_the_back
@jack_out_the_back Жыл бұрын
The Easy Boss E tool is designed to calm the animal by imitating chewing their cud, which draws their attention, distracting them from other things going on. Basically calms them down. Can also use it for mouthing the animal to check age.

Jack I found on you-tube that the Arabians process for human consumption approx 3 million camels every year . They also breed them for milk production . What is the chance of sending Australian representatives to the Arabian state to talk about West Australian live Export . Further more invite them to build their on abattoir out your way . They have a preference for Halal method of processing !

It's been tried before, unfortunately they do not want to pay a reasonable price for them (less than pet meat value) There has been talk of it happening soon though. And there will be camel meat at the Perth wine and food festival this year!

No branding, we have the ear mark and the EID tag, plus the VID and the sheep tag. That should make it clear as to who's cattle they are 😊

work experience on a farm or cattle station should be compulsory for every student in australia. get their heads out of instagram and tik tok and learn some things about life and the realities of the real world.

I suggested to the education minister of WA that student teachers should do a placement on a cattle station so that it would broaden their education as well as provide remote people with an opportunity for some relief on the education of the children if they can't afford/justify a governess.

@jack_out_the_back

No, not really, the oldest we would get is around 18 months, as we have been using self mustering yards since we purchased the property there aren't many animas that haven’t ent been through the yards.
