Aw that’s so cool that you found the person that hosted you for dent-stay! I did dent-stay at UCSF when I interviewed there. Watching this video reminded me about how fast time flies. Hmm I would have to say comfortability, clarity, ergonomics, magnification and style. I went with orascoptic 2.5x but will upgrade to 3.5x over the summer! Good luck, so exciting! :)

Hi I applied with around a 3.7 unweighted, 4.2 weighted GPA. Took all of the sciences including CALC 1 with just a few AP classes. Biochemistry and its tough but doable! check out my other vids for more info and help! good luck :)

My name is Chayse and I am a senior at a small private University I also play D2 for them. Ever since I was 3 years old and my mother took me to the dentist for the first time I have been interested in teeth, to the point that my Dentist had to keep asking me to step back because I was getting in the road. I was a Bio major my freshman year but because of my university's financial issues they cut the major so starting my sophomore year I had to switch to exercise Science as that is what they told me would be the closest to my current major and still very well accepted into graduate schools. I have a 2.9-3.0 cum gpa and hopefully will be 3.2 or higher after this last semester. I still have to take micro bio and organic chem as I can not fit it in my schedule this semester so after I graduate this May I will have to go back part time. I still need to take my Dat as well probably next spring. My goal is WVU dental school as its the closest to me. My parents support me as they know I truly want to do the work but are worried about me not getting in as I'm not the best standardized test taker as well as struggling in chemistry and high level math. So honestly do you think someone in my shoes has a chance of getting into Dental school or should I start looking into other careers? Thank you.

Hi Chayse! First off, thank you for taking the time to write this! At the end of the day, if you really want to be a dentist there are many ways to get there. Focus on getting your gpa to 3.2 and do the best you can on the DAT. If you can get 19 or over you will have a chance. If that doesn't work out, do a postbacc to raise your GPA. Make sure you can balance everything out with lots of extracurriculars and shadowing!
