I'm not normally excited about other people getting freebies (who is right?) but, HELL YEH! I needed this. I needed Gabe 'Circuit' Miller to showcase the new Circuit Tracks. fao hardware manufacturers. It's in your interest to have your products showcased by exponents of as many different genres as possible. Glad you finally got your hands on one! Well deserved! I love Novation, but I still think it's strange they didn't sent you one of the pre-releases to get acquiantant with, as you are one of the biggest advocates (maybe even evangelists) I know for the Circuit (and groove boxes in general).

I'm really getting one of these( i have two of the originals). my ONLY gripe is I was hopping the new circuit would liberate us from the super limited four note midi output from the drum section.( I like hooking up with my ipad). i like to use the ipad sampler app called koala sampler which is a 8x2 drum pad. i also like using AUM app. hope they have that in a future update.

For a long note on the original circuit you could span it over multiple clips without retrigering if I am not mistaking. But it’s nice that they added the monostation options to this new machine

You could do note tie, but that kinda forced you to let one note just ring out forever. And a note could span across two clips but each note could only be the length of a clip. So if I had a chord I wanted held out for two bars, I'd have to let it retrigger and hide it with sidechaining. But yeah regardless this is a nice quality of life update

Those two tracks can send midi, but as far as I know, you only have two midi outputs (unless you're connected to a computer via USB and recording midi into a DAW)

Is it possible to have different sessions and switch between them live with having the tempo and time signature change? The music I want to make has set drum patterns but they vary time signatures and tempos depending on the part of the song. So I want to change the drums with a push of a button so I can play the melody over it which is all improvised.

If you switch between sessions, the tempo will sync. Time signatures are set up by pattern lengths, so you'll be able to set those up to change no problem. If you want to have a song that fluctuates in tempo, you'll need to change the tempo on the fly.

I'll have to start and stop the sessions or yeah slowly bump the tempo up when I change sections since I want to do performances live. I've been looking at grooveboxes forever and was about to pounce on the OG Circuit when I saw the tracks leak so I've been waiting and been catching up on all your videos even though it's a completely different style to what I want to do.

Both! It comes with patches and samples built in, and you can easily swap them out/design your own.

Any insight into how much room you have for samples on the Tracks? Can't seem to find that anywhere, hope it's much longer than the originals 60 seconds!

I think you know by now that it is the 60 original seconds. I was thinking on waiting on the circuit rythm, but I recently found out Koala Sampler so I think I will go for the Circuit tracks and just use Koala for real sampling capabilities and have the best of both worlds

You can't access all 8 patterns at once anymore, now it's 4 at a time (although you can still chain all 8, I believe). They rearranged that to make room for the two new midi tracks. That becomes a bit clunky when trying to quickly switch between patterns, but using scenes mitigates that, since you can have a bunch of patterns change at once with the press of one button.

It would be great if a future update would enable the circuit to record samples from the inputs and then be stored on the micro SD card to be used as samples. It could act as a midi looper then using one of the drum tracks.

How different and similar is this from the launchpad pro mk3 in terms of capabilities? Is there anything one can do with this that can’t be done on the launchpad? Sorry I know very little about drum machines and groove boxes.

The big difference between this and a Launchpad is that this is completely self-contained. The Launchpad controls software, and while the Circuit can also do that, its main purpose is to be used by itself, without a computer. Gabe, you mentioned that you would be loading your sample pack onto it. Are sysx files from the og circuit drop-in compatible with the new one? Or do you need to build a new pack? I missed this detail if you mentioned it here or previously.

Great question-marketing says "Revamped Components App" Which integrates the sample exports using the SD Card? Maybe? Or something. My obsession is how much sample time does the N Tracks actually have. One minute on the OG was-wait-it's an SD Card-So... How big of a SD Card can you buy? Cool, what the Circuit users have been waiting for. Glad you've got one Gabe. I'm probably answering my own question but look in to this. Can upload old circuitpacks to Novation Tracks? I cannot find an answer to this. I downloaded components to use separately, rather than use the web browser. I've also tried the web browser version. If you...format your SD card to fat32. Plug it in to Tracks. Load components. Click packs. New pack. This gives you the option to pick a Circuit pack. You will notice that when you search for an old .circuitpack file extension your browser will not "see" your old .circuitpack files. Or .syx files. I guess this is because Tracks needs a .circuittrackspack file extension to load a pack. Not the old .circuitpack extension. As a workaround I copied an old .circuitpack and renamed it .circuittrackspack This way, your software is able to at least "see" it on your cpu. However, when you try to upload it you get an error message.... "Can't find end of central directory" So you cannot upload old circuitpacks. Or I can't figure out a workaround as yet. Any ideas please? Is there a way to upload Novation Circuit packs to Novation Tracks? Or will this be in an update? It seems a big oversight. Cheers Gabe. I'll watch the vid soon 👍

Okay I just spent a bunch of time trying to figure this out for my own Tracks. Novation confirmed via an Instagram comment that old packs are not compatible, but patches are, so I just spent the time to drag a bunch of patches into components to create a new pack. I hope they develop something to convert the old packs, but in the meantime, that's the workaround.

Some packs don't have the individual presets so I'll have to look if you can load a .circuitpack file then export the individual synth presets and sample wavs. Then put all that in to a new pack on the Circuit.
