I have the Pentax 645N and 6x7. My 645 is my preferred street photography camera while the 67 is for landscape and long exposure. I have the 45mm (24mm Equivalent), and I was genuinely surprised my Peak Design Travel Tripod held the weight of the kit, just have to put my camera backpack as a counterweight. So for handheld, I’ll never go under 1/125, I encounter camera shake even though the shutter speed is above the focal length of the 45mm. Of course, I’ll only MLU when I’m on Bulb. Awesome watch and I love the commentary throughout.

I have been considering a Pentax 6x7 for a bit, found your video and what do you know, you're shooting in the same place I took my Nikon Z7II to test! Small world!

Prob the best video I’ve watched on the Pentax 67. Subscribed! I own a Pentax 67ii and it’s my baby. Had it for almost 2 years now and it is always a pleasure to use! Look forward to more content on it from you. 😊

Great video and can concur, once you get that camera you have been hunting, especially one with such a great shutter sound as the Pentax 67 it is one of the most satisfying feelings ever. I picked one up and immediately had to send it off to CLA, while I was waiting somehow I ended up with another, they're that addicting! Love the shots, truly put that new camera through its paces.

Great video! Consider grabbing a dark bag(if you don’t have one) along with a 35mm adapter. You can shoot some nice panoramic-style shots. It’s especially nice if you can pair it with a wide lens.
@StepsAndStoness5 ай бұрын
Hoping to add that adapter to my kit at some point for sure! You have any you recommend? Been hearing mixed things about those kits and them breaking the advance on this camera sometimes from what I've read. Not ideal😢

Before digital cameras, I had a Hasselblad which I loved. But, I also wanted a Pentax 67 which I never bought. These days it would be too heavy. But, I'd love to have one on a shelf.

How does the 67 compare to the new 17? Which would you reccomend? Subbed! I hated the new 17 as soon as I received my review copy. So I blasted it in my review! It is weird how nobody has made a vid about the 67! lol I'm jealous. I almost pulled the trigger on it once, but backed out and talked myself down from the ledge. I want one to do sprocket panos with. Love your breakdown. Educational without being monotone! Happy Snapping!

Overwhelmingly, every Pentax 67 video references its weight, and while it is not a 'light' camera, I am 5'5" and weigh about 175lbs, and I can carry it around all day and it doesn't bother me. The thing that DOES bother me about, and which is not often mentioned, is the dim viewfinder, and I have excellent eyesight. I find that anything less than a very bright day, results in an inordinate amount of time making sure I think the shot will be in focus. About 30 years ago, a couple of companies, (Beattie and Maxwell) did make focusing screens which allegedly brightened the viewfinder by about 1 to 3 stops, however, I have never been able to locate one, and I'm sure they're pricey. Love the camera and the 67 lens lineup, however, if you like to shoot in low light, it's probably not the best choice.

Hello. Great video. I noticed that you have a small light meter on the smaller SLR. Are you using that meter to assist with your settings on the Pentax 67? If so, how do you think the reliability of the light meter is working based on your results?
@StepsAndStoness6 ай бұрын
Great question! As I don't have a light meter for my Canon P this one is something that I seem to always keep with me just in case. This is the TTArtisan Light Meter II and I have a video on my channel that goes into further detail if you're interested. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fni7eqt3q7d1eqs

I have a question. I have the 105, 55 and 75 all SMC pentax. For some reason, with the 105 and the 75, when I stop down the aperture in manual mode, it also stops down the lens. So if my lens is at 22, I can't even see what I'm trying to get in focus because it's too dark. The only lens that doesn't stop down is the 55 - I can see a bright screen at all apertures. Do you know why this happens to the 105 and 75 but not the 55? i have to focus wide open and then fix my fstop its pretty annoying. Do you have this issue or is my copy defective? the viewfinder is only bright in all apertures if i ahve the lens in automatic mode once i switch to anything lower than f11 i basically cant see anything in the viewfinder its wayyy too dark.
@StepsAndStoness6 ай бұрын
This is a common feature on most SLR cameras, but it's usually a toggled feature. When you are operating in the manual mode of some of these lenses, you are toggling the Depth of Field (DoF) Preview. I do notice this on my 90mm, so I usually find focus in Auto if my Fstop is high, and then switch to Manual when I'm ready to capture an image. It's possible there is another work around for this, but being only a few weeks in, this has been my workflow so far. Hope this helps!
@eatenbyopium6 ай бұрын
@@StepsAndStoness thanks man yeah thats what i've been having to do, super annoying. But i guess the workflow isnt fast with this camera, like at all. So i'll have to just get used to it. just not sure why it does it with the 105 and 75 and the 55 is all good. maybe ill take it to a shop if i find out anything i'll let you know.
@StepsAndStoness6 ай бұрын
@@eatenbyopium One of my local techs in town told me this is pretty standard with the camera since so much of it operates mechanically. "AUTO means auto diaphragm, so that you can set the aperture and meter without the lens being stopped down."
@eatenbyopium6 ай бұрын
@@StepsAndStoness oh nice so auto doesn’t mean it puts the camera in aperture priority and automatically chooses your shutter speed for you? I watched a KZbin video that said if the lens is in auto mode it’ll automatically choose your shutter speed I guess that person was mistaken?
