Find me a comparison between AI upscaled textures vs their original counterparts (on a per-texture basis), then I'll believe those weren't made from scratch / reused from other GTA titles. The latter makes more sense than AI upscaling financially and would explain why half of textures were left untouched. If they did use AI, then 100% coverage of in-game textures would be effortless. Since a lot of textures are not HD and overall mismatched, it would seem unlikely that they have used AI upscaling only, if at all.

What an incredible run, they will talk about this one for years to come on the innovations it has provided to the speedrunning community of this brand new game. Blowing up Ryder's car has got to be the crown jewel of the tricks in this run. Getting the achievement for that is very important to skip a certain cutscene down the line. I can't wait to see what tricks others will find but I'm sure they cannot add nearly as much as you have in your very first run!

it's not about the draw distance, any graphical semblance of atmosphere would do, you don't need to reduce draw distance for that. I'm pretty sure they left out the fog, because in their minds it was cool to see whole map rendered at once with UE and without hiccups resulting from that. Just like GZDoom devs left bilinear filtering on by default just to show off their engine capabilities, even though it looks objectively worse than with filters disabled

I noticed in one of the VODs that you commented that railway crossing barriers spawn in the down position and I might have figured out why. In reality it's probably something they unintentionally borked like many other things in Definitive Edition, but I like to think it's so that when you're doing the Freight side mission every crossing you come to is already down when you get to the crossing like they would be in real life, but unlike in the original game. Barriers still coming down when the train hits the crossing is a massive anachronism, whereas barriers going up as you approach works fine because a train could have just finished passing.

What is that weird dark halo that surrounds the outline/silhouette of every character? I remember seeing this exact thing in some videos about GTA mods, and I was pretty grossed out when I saw it in this so-called "Definitive Edition". EDIT: it's fucking confusing how good, or should I say, tolerable texturing brought up a lot of animation flaws, which you didn't pay much attention to (because the game was awesome even with its render engine limitations, and a lot of 90's kids grew up with it). EDIT 2: Finally watched the whole stream, and I couldn't be much happier to say - fuck this remaster, God bless Rutracker.

i dont know why but i got the glitch where the ai gets 100 or 99 weapon accuracy and got so frustrated playing because every npc could shred me with an mp5 from across the map in gray imports, then in the streets everyone was having the range of a sniper rifle with every weapon.

I know the San Andreas map was smaller than people think, but I still think that the way it is rendered in TDE makes it look even smaller than it actually is.

This is the laziest remake/cash-grab I've seen in a long time. Modders do a better job than this for free but on the flip side I play my super old versions of GTA 3 and SA perfectly fine on Windows 10 so I suppose this is a case of do it properly or don't do it because if they really wanted to they could do all 3 games in the GTA 5 engine and charge big bucks for each one individually

Great video man. Really learned some stuff about this "definitive edition" I just wanted to say however even though it's the same game only rendered in unreal engine... it really doesn't justify the looks plus the price. Tbh idk how much the games cost but the way they look + new controls but the exact same experience barely justifies buying these for less than 30 bucks.

It's one thing to make a "remaster" of a mobile phone game but the truly scummy thing to me is that they took the original game off steam even though you cant even buy the DE off steam if you wanted too.
