Just checked it out today at ACE Setia City CC, honestly not bad, the crystal-ish dash design is neat, the dashboard itself is slightly tilted towards the driver to be more "driver focused" and the insides looks and feels better than in videos/pictures, it honestly isn't bad!

@jasongc8v not all automatic transmission is not necessarily good reliability nowadays than before, there are some people also complaining about mazda gearbox as I heard that than you think. Even CVT gearbox is also problems too but for this brand case, since already tested for longer distance, should be no problem

I had the same perception prior to test drive. Honestly the power is underwhelming, wish they could’ve brought in a turbo version or hybrid version to give more power. Would suit how the car looks more!

There is an MG5 which dont use CVT but MG Malaysia dont sell it in Malaysia because they think Malaysian buyers are gullible bunch of people and not auto literate.

the CVT is actually pretty decent. the 1.5 n/a engine seems like it needs the ‘infinite’ gear ratios.

Thats what i was saying, MG should have put their 1.5 DCCT engine(which they use in other countries) instead and remove the sunroof for that price otherwise its a waste. I understand why they put limiters on the CVT because as we all know lower quality CVT tends to breakdown if used aggresively. Btw 2025 MG5 looks more worthed in that sense as this is like a 3 year old model already. I think MG wants to clear their old stock so sell it to Malaysia as Malaysians are very gullible.

For me, a small things could be a dealbreaker for me to buy this car . 1) Folding bench . No 60:40 split seat 2) No cup holders for rear seat at the mid . I am family man . My wife and my daughter love drinking air masak . 3) Only one channel aircond flow for rear passenger . It should be 2 channels . Why MG ? Why ?

But overall, still better than Toyota Vios. 1. Vios doesn’t have back seats, 2. Vios also not comfortable which Vios is smaller than MG5 3. Vios also not really powerful and not as smooth as MG5 4. Vios quality also not as good as MG5

I nearly booked this car because it looked good until i test drove it. Sorry to say, it drives and feels exactly like how a China car drives. The upper dashboard has terrible quality plastic it reminded me of the plastic from the Saga. Even the door panels are made from cheapo hollow plastic that is similar to Saga. And the engine is a 1.5L but it feels like a 1.0. You have to really floor the pedal to get any power from the engine.Even an Axia feels more powerful than this car. Everything about this car screams China, the ride quality, the steering feel, and the engine and gearbox. Sorry to say, 0 stars aside, its nowhere near a Csegment car, interior feels cheap everywhere. Even the gearknob feels cheap when you change from P to D. I would give this car a 2/5 rating. Pls dont buy. Get a City or Vios. They are on a whole different level

Most honest comment. Good bro. Coz i myself feel attracted to buy mg5. Most influencer reviewer dont really HIGHLIGHT this issue They kindda skip or dont stress this issue enough for buyer to understand what junk they are driving. I never test drive but from watching review :- 1. Big car small engine : turtle speed 2. Big car small engine : cannot add safety bar; insulation; Safety features etc because it make tgis car heavier 3. Not only dashboard; the Dashboard meter infotainment cluster all look cheap thin plastic..must be because to make car lighter 4. Head unit lagging af. Like old android handphone. What i like 1. Look 2. Not complicated car with too many sensor 3. Space is big
