Ford had said they called it Mustang because they wanted to find a way to keep it alive even after ICE engines are long gone. And they used the CUV layout because it’s the most efficient way to have the largest battery possible without compromising the sportiness, and a way to compete with the Model Y. There are plans to have a traditional coupe layout as an EV, but it would have to have a smaller battery due to being smaller. It seems to make more sense why they did the name (other than marketing) but calling it just Mach-E would’ve sufficed

Buyers will also get a total of 7500K tax credit depending on your income. I only got 2500K off my taxes, because I didn’t make 100K income. I’m very excited to see Ford make this EV. I just object to the name Mustang. Call it the Mach E Galvanic. It’s a way better name. Galvanic means, relating to or involving electric currents produced by chemical reactions. Mustang should be reserved for the gas engine car. Definitely a bonehead move to use that name on a total different model car. It just shows you how insecure Ford was on making the Mach E, having to use the Mustang brand to help sell it. Just like only producing 50K of them in Mexico. Ford definitely doesn’t believe in making all electric cars yet. That’s to bad. They will just end up bankrupt at this pace.

Yeah, no one drives the original mustang's here in the UK because we have narrow winding roads. Very rare that you'll end up on a long straight and be able to open her up without killing someone, yourself, or getting fined. Hot hatches and overpowered SUVs are the chronic here.

@DaveP6684 жыл бұрын
No handles on the rear doors because during tests most people grabbed inside the door to open it, so they put rubber behind. You could do the same on the front and many will. When the doors pop open you can't close them again until they have been fully opened to stop you trapping fingers.

I still think Ford should’ve branded this vehicle with a new name or rebadged it as a Taurus Cross Over/SUV... the Mustang, as we know it, should’ve stayed as it was...

I could see if Ford used a new name for such a new vehicle ... and whole new direction for them. "Mustang", however, resonates with people now, and even more, the older generation (like me) that wants a Mustang, finds them not practical enough as a cross-over is. They apparently wanted to make it sporty too, so then the Mustang tie-in works.
@CycoWarriorx4 жыл бұрын
@@twowheels222 being a former owner of one (86), I hear you. We all know why they chose the branding for this. I remember when Chevy launched the Malibu and an article in the WSJ that discussed how much money it cost them to market it vs how much they spent to market the designed-down Impala (at the time). So I’m sure there were some lessons in that process Ford didn’t want to repeat. Having said that tho, the Mustang, as a brand is synonymous with speed and performance. I just think collapsing the historical brand with something so fundamentally different (ie SUV) may be a hard sell. Frankly I’d love to see their first year projections vs actual sales. I do want to temper this with being fully aware consumer taste has shifted to SUVs.
@twowheels2224 жыл бұрын
@@CycoWarriorx Unless some glitch pops up with the Mach-E, my guess is they will sell well. Not only are SUVs / CUVs popular, but electrics are really gaining converts. And while it might not beat the hottest Mustangs in a race, having a bank of batteries in the floor will keep the CG low. Pair that with firm springs and shocks, and cornering should be impressive. For acceleration, electric motors can have a ton of torque.
