Every so often my 17 year old Mazda 3 does something completely out of the blue, like when the thermostat crapped out on a 2 hour drive in 100F heat. Luckily the motor didn't explode (although there weren't any warnings for overheating except when the A/C was auto shut off, but I didn't know that at the time.) I remember getting to my destination and hearing the coolant boiling in the lines. While the car was at the shop, I panicked and bought a brand new 2022 WRX Limited off of the showroom floor... 2 months ago the replacement (5 years old) alternator on the Mazda decided it didn't want to work properly anymore, so I had to spend about triple what the car is worth in scrap to get everything back up to par (drive belts and other junk down there). I guess I'm not gonna let this car go out quietly either 😂

This video captures every reason why I left high pressure turbo builds behind for the simplicity of a large capacity v8.

The number of similarities I see between this car and building a 20v 1.8t is insane. Glad to know issues with 20-year-old turbo 4-cylinders are pretty universal!

i have a high boost 420 powered 1st gen neon. its maybe the most powerful one in the world still running. 707whp at 32 psi at 8600 rpm. i run around at 36psi or higher on the street. all i can say is i run double worm clamps on every boost coupler, i have a custom manifold, the biggest arps i can run, a mls headgasket, and i still lift the head sometimes. next time i am going to be running a solid steel gasket with fire ring inserts. look into them. its what all the b58 guys run. a saab dude named rochester house of boost may be your cheapest and easiest option as far as getting one made. look into it.
