BTS are the Beatles of the 21st century...no lie. They have broken Beatles records, MJ records, Adele records...etc. They have the largest fan base in the world. These guys are not your typical American type boy band. Unfortunately the racist American radio ignores them, because they can't profit off of these amazingly talented men. Thankfully the rest of the world caught on early. Steve has done several songs with them. Don't be mistaken they are not your typical K-pop group at all, in fact they transcended a long time ago. When you have Usher, J Cole, Justin Timberlake, just to name a few, featured on BTS songs, then you know they are no joke. They write, compose, and produce the majority of their own music. Insane talent on these guys. I'm 59 year old music fan, and I have never come across a group so fucking talented. 💜

Wow. You too? I am 56 years old and I couldn't have said it finer nor more in line with exactly how I feel about them, than you just did there. If I commented beyond this post, with my overview & opinion, it would be extremely redundant , below your comment . I must say I have never heard nor seen artists , this F***ING talented either, in my lifetime, except perhaps the Beatles & Michael Jackson. There is no other group that can touch my heart, give me goosebumps, , make me laugh & cry my eyes out & I often have to remember to exhale, more than these 7 extremely talented artists. Although, you may want to check out Stray Kids , they are self produced & write & engineer a lot of their music too. I think they really are something very different & talented as well . They hit a very different vibe from BTS, but nonetheless their creativity, concepts & top tier production of their MV's , are / is 1:03 highly impressive .

The face you recognized is Jung Kook (Main Vocalist and Lead Dancer and SubRapper since age 15 when they debuted in June 2013), and you likely saw Standing Next to You live on the Jimmy Fallon show. He also interviewed on the show. Actually, he performed a LOT in the U.S. September through November (November 3rd he dropped his first solo album called Golden, and it is in all English). BTS has 7 members: 3 rappers (RM, Suga/AgustD, and J-Hope); 4 vocalists (JungKook, Jin, Jimin and V). However, they all dance, they can all rap to a certain degree, and they can all sing to a certain degree. Yes, they have their specialties. Also, they all can write, compose and produce songs, but the rap line has done a LOT more of that over the last decade than the vocal line. ALL the members have put out solo albums since 2022. As of mid-December 2023, all 7 of them are now enlisted in S. Korea's mandatory military. 2 will be out this year, the rest in June 2025. They have all re-signed contracts with their company and will return as BTS, though the group may be a bit different since military changes people and they are older now (late 20's/early 30's by the time they are discharged). Others have suggested, and I agree, that you watch Taylor Mari's introduction to the Bangtan 7. It's long, but we fans (known as ARMY) will watch along with you, IF you are truly interested in getting to know about them. However, know that it is only current through May 2022, and A LOT has happened (including all their solo stuff) since that time. I found them in early 2021 through their song/MV "Black Swan". It's very different than MicDrop. Anyway, I'm old and I will say they are THE BEST group I have ever seen/heard in my life!

I agree completely. Though I would also suggest The Most Beautiful Life Goes On: A Story Of BTS (2023 Update). Unfortunately - despite it's name - it too is only actually up to 2022. But I always recommend both, because they focus on different aspects of BTS, and their journey; but they fit nicely together. Also, as you said, so much has happened since both guides came out - hopefully one, or both, will be updated soon. Even now, with all seven completing their mandatory military service, they are still breaking records, and winning awards around the world.

You’ll want to watch ALL their songs, AND their solo albums, AND their variety show (Run BTS), AND their vacation vlogs (In the Soop and Bon Voyage), AND their performance-level dance practices, AND docus about them, etc. In other words, they have so much amazing and varied content that will last you years. You don’t even know what you don’t know😂 Started off as underdogs and haters called them sellouts for going from underground rappers to “idols”. They wanted to be the bulletproof boyscouts of the youth. They endured because they knew they had something to prove amd something to give. 3 rappers (RM=Leader,1st member at 17, Suga=writer producer, J Hope = dance leader and came in only knowing street dance. Learned to rap from the other two) 4 vocals (Jin=oldest and joined at 20, JK=main vocal and joined at 13, V and Jimin (joined at 15). All extremely different tones and ranges. Their talent is incredible and they do so many genres. But it’s their sincerity and humor and work ethic that is so endearing.

Oh BTS -- they literally changed the game in both kpop and in western entertainment -- in very different ways. :) After they broke onto the American scene at awards shows in 2017, everyone sat up and wanted to know what they had just witnessed. Suddenly everyone is taking notes and training a little harder, lol. (Seeing them do this sort of performance live is crazy). And then people became curious about other kpop acts (but, full honesty, there is no other group setting the trends like them). And back in Korea, success was no longer dictated by the big companies that had a stranglehold on Korean media and opportunities. BTS were underdog nobodies who weren't supposed to succeed, let alone blow everyone out of the water. There's really is a rags to riches story.

My son introduced me to bts “Dynamite” during the pandemic and I fell down the rabbit hole. More than just a kpop group. They write and produce almost all their own music. She will be doing and update once they are out of the military but it's up to date as far as May 2022 however they've all done a lot since then and broken even more records, and amassed even more awards. I recommend watching the guide to BTS by Taylor Mari to start. Jungkook was the one you saw on the tonight show recently since he was the last in the group to release a solo album before going into the military. All BTS members are in the military right now. It's mandatory in South Korea. They will be back as a group in 2025.

I'm 53 & just got into them 2 months ago. First, I watched "A Guide To BTS Members: The Bangtan Seven". To learn personalities I went to shows I know like "Jimmy Fallon" "Car Pool Karaoke or Crosswalk with James Corden", speaking at the UN, speaking at the White House, & lots of YT clips. I then watched every BTS song video - then went member by member down their solo work. Music has been my life for 53 years, I was 3rd row center in MSG watching MJ moonwalk, I saw Usher glide across the stage on his Truth Tour, & I feel like we finally have a group of artists who not only are exceptionally talented & intelligent but also know how to honor those that came before them while adding their own flair. You will not find anything bad from BTS. It's ALL good! They are very diverse in what they do. One minute you get hip-hop and the next a ballad to a funky pop song. They had released the original song on an album (they really don’t have and bad songs) and Steve Aoki contacted them and asked if he could collaborate on a remix. As group leader RM says, their first collab. Within 24 hours of this being released it was number one on iTunes in over 80 countries. This is the song & MV that made me an instant lifelong fan of BTS. You will never regret becoming a fan. They are extraordinary, and wonderful human beings, too. Us fans are waiting patiently & praying for their safety as they do their required military service. The oldest, Jin, a powerful singer and “visual,” finishes in June of this year, then JHope, dance leader and rapper, finishes in October. The rest will finish in June of 2025. Hello I just happened to run across your video. This was me 2 1/2 years ago. I went down the BTS rabbit hole as they call it. I’ve been obsessed every since. I’m in my 50s Black Woman who teaches 12th grade. My classroom is decorated with BTS posters. I got my first tattoo in my life this past summer a bracelet tattoo on my wrist with all 7 of their names. I’m just trying to say I love these guys so much. To answer your question. 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. The vocalist are capable of rapping and the rappers are capable of singing. Try out On kinetic Manifesto or Black Swan next. Nobody said they are the best of the best in Kpop, they are pretty much the best in the world. A couple of days wont do it for you, even if you watch their music continuously, they have more than 300 tracks. They debuted in 2013 and have been working continuously since then, currently on a break to do mandatory military service, but have promised their fans they will get back as a group in 2025. You recognised Jungkook who recently released Golden album, including Seven, Standing Next to You etc. If you like rap I recommend Hip Hop Lover, Agust D, Idol, all early tracks. Good luck.

BTS as a group are global superstars winning awards left, right, and centre. To give you an idea of just how incredibly detailed their videos are I will give you a quick rundown of things in this one. This song is their final farewell to their haters, represented in the .V by the hooded figures who throw molotiv cocktails at them at the start, throwing hate. BTS has suffered (and still do) from a lot of hate, from fans of other groups, the public in general, the media, the KPop industry, their former underground rap friends, etc, etc. They were told they wouldn't make it as their company, Big Hit, was small. The MV starts in an interrogation room with cameras and microphones in their faces. They were constantly watched to see what they said, how they acted, looking for anything to put them down. Even as things got a little better with their success over the next few years, it was like being in a prison. People constantly trying to put them in a box, a particular genre, way they should behave, etc. At the time of this video, about 4 years after debut, they had started to really become successful globally, and they realised that even proving successful with hardworking, haters are always gonna hate, so it was time to say that with their lyrics, saying farewell, that they were not going to look at the hate anymore, not needing an apology or anything, just you keep hating if you want, no effect on us. At one point, RM points at the haters and says Mic Drop BAM, finger gunning them and they fall as if shot. In the explosion scene you can see the burning bodies of their haters falling from the sky as they roast them with their lyrics. Excellent MV, diss song which is not a bragging song, they just state the facts that they had won so many trophies by then (over 1200 now), no empty seats in their shows (sell out multiple days of stadiums in minutes). Glad you liked the song. They do multiple genres so their is EDM as well. Perhaps to see their range in a fairly quick way watch BTS Festa Room Live 2021 with Eng subs. They sing snippets of many B Sides in a medley and it highlights how good they are live, their personalities, range of genres, goofiness (watch the members in the background).

BTS and Steve Aoki have collaborated 3 times (in 2018). 1. Mic Drop that has its original Korean version from 2017, then the Japanese version came out and then this icon Steve remix, being that there is also another one with Steve and Desiigner. 2. The truth untold that is a ballade in which Steve is part of the team of the purchase and wrote, for in addition to who produced it. Being one of the greats of EDM produced them a wonderful ballad, where only the vocal line participates. 3. Waste it on Me, which is part of an album by Steve, and was actually the first that BTS sang in English but not being from his discography is considered Dynamite. You recognized Jungkook, who has several collaborations with American artists and his album was in English, so he participated in several programs before entering the army. Also in 2022 he was the main performer of one of the FIFA songs for the soccer world Cup, this being the only song that was part of the opening performance, which gave more global presence. On other side, there are positions assigned since the debut but the guys have shown that everyone can dance, that the 3 rappers are one of the best in the industry, that the vocal line is one of the best, but also rappers can sing and singers rap; besides that they are composers, writers, producers and, that between them they can assume other functions and obtain very good results and with great quality. They are guys who put their best effort into what they do, which they have shown in what each one has been doing in the military, achieving successes, but mainly their classmates in the army have said that as they have always shown in the almost 11 years of their career, they are still humble and simple guys.

You ain't seen nothin' yet! Each one of them are superstars in their own right. They all write and produce music for themselves and some for other artists, as well as for movies and TV shows. Check your cell phone ringtone list... you'll probably see one or two produced by SUGA! They are all excellent performers, actors, and dancers. The rapline (RM, J-Hope, and SUGA) can rap like nobody's business! (Watch "Outro: Tear" live performance. It'll knock your socks off!) The vocal line (Jungkook, Jin, Jimin, and V) are amazing individually and as a group. BTS does music in just about every genre. I'd ove to see what you think of some of their other works. Predebut: RM and Suga got into rap/hip hop around 13 yo and soon began performing in their local music scenes and writing their own music. RM was the first to sign with Big Hit (now Hybe) around 2010. Suga joined after coming in 2nd in their audition/competition. J-Hope began hip hop dancing in his teens and won several dance competitions. He did not start rapping until after he joined Big Hit. The company originally put together an all rap/hiphop group but later changed it to an Kpop Idol group. Only RM, Suga and J-Hope stayed. They added the singers. Jin is the oldest was going to college to become an actor when he was scouted by a company employee. He learned to both sing and dance from scratch. Jungkook was the youngest at 14 when he auditioned for a music show. He got offers from 7 companies but joined Big Hit because he admired RM. He can sing and rap and he was sent to LA to learn hip hop dance. V was interested in music and played the saxophone. He never meant to audition and went to support a friend. Again a staffer spotted him and asked him to audition. He has a deep, soulful R&B voice. Jimin was the last to join. He was dancing hip hop in his early teens and entered a performing arts high school at the top of his class and studied contemporary dance. His tumbling skills come from his martial arts training as a kid. He did not start singing until after he joined. They all spent long hours with their main choreographer learning and perfecting their dance skills. J-Hope called their dorm room a rap den where even when they werenʻt training they were still doing music. The rappers put together playlists for the singers so they could learn about hip hop. And like most kpop Idols, they also studied Japanese, an important music market. Only Jin and Suga had graduated high school and started college. RM, Jimin and V all graduated high school while trainees. Jungkook wouldnʻt graduate until after they debuted and the media attended his graduation. They debuted on June 13, 2013. btw, they all now graduated college.

All of them can rap, dance, and sing, but there are roles in the group that are important. Like Group Leader, Group Dance Leader, Main vocalist, and there is the dance line, the rap line, and the vocal line. They do tend to switch it up and keep it interesting. BTS write, compose, and produce most of their own music, and they are known for crossing and fusing many different genre's. If you really are interested in how they came together, and what they did in their trainee days, there are documentaries. I can recommend a good one that will take you from their pre-debut up to 2021, and they also have a good introduction video I can recommend. Each one gives a different style of telling their story. The first one by Taylor Mari is more of an individual introduction of each member and a summarized story of their journey. The second one my Rice Squad is their story told by their achievements. The 3rd story is told by their discography from pre-debut to about the time they took their group break, but it's the most in depth one, and I love it. the one by Rice Squad leaves out the struggles they had, so I think it's lacking in that way, but they are all really good. Def watch the Taylor guide to the Bangtan 7 people are suggesting; it will answer a lot of your questions even if it’s not quite up to date (it goes up to May 2022, so it includes most of their group activity before they started releasing solo projects a little later that year). I recommend finding a documentary, there are multiple options on KZbin, introducing them and their background. Don't be afraid to dive right into the BTS rabbit hole. Seriously, you won't regret it! Some of my favorites are Dope, ON- Kinetic Manifesto, and their live performances of The Truth Untold and House of Cards. UGH live is really good too. If you want to go back to the start, try No More Dream, Bulletproof pt 2, and NO. There are so many options, including b sides that have no videos, but live performances can be found. They are really good live, and I generally prefer those over the music videos.

I'm probably reiterating what someone else said, but if you think their choreo is easy, it's because they make it look that way. Yes, one person can learn moves, but seven have to practice their behinds off to stick those smooth transitions and formations every single time. Performance is an expectation in Kpop, but not everyone can reach BTS-level. I really feel that the centrality of dance and their nationality are BTS's only remaining links to Kpop at this point. They've transcended that label.

BTS covers a ton of genres and reinvent themselves every comeback. For awhile the more you watch them the less you’ll think you know about them. It’s very fun. They all have strengths, but they can also all do everything. (Though I’d argue Jin’s rap Skills are suspect. 😂) As others have said, it’s generally 3 rappers and 4 vocalists, with some crossover. They are all competent dancers but 4 tend to be featured more in choreography than the other 3. They all have songwriting credits but the rappers do more writing and production. They make a good team.

Kpop is known for the visuals (MVs), but in the case of BTS its music/production, lyrics, visual and performance. BTS are one of the few that create and produce their own music (aside from the members they also have their in house producers). BTS members have been involved in their music from the beginning, that’s why their song resonates to a lot of people. The write their own stories. They have 3 rappers (RM [the leader], SUGA/AGUST D and J-HOPE) and 4 vocalists (JIN, JIMIN, V and JUNGKOOK), but basically the members can do anything. If you think they go hard even in the beginning wait til you listen to the rapline songs, UGH!, Outro: Tear, Cyphers 1-4.. as well as their solo music, RM - Joke, SUGA/AGUST D - Daechwita and J-Hope - Arson. For group songs (including all the members) Run BTS (the song from 2022, in Proof album), ON (Kinetic Manifesto), Not Today, Fire, Dionysus to name a few. enjoy the rabbit hole. 💜

We are talking 7 all star artists with totally different musical tastes. 3 rappers 4 all star vocalists. Multi genres in 3 languages. Gargantuan back catalogue as they also have solo work and collabs. V even acted in a popular kdrama series on Netflix. .All 7 are songwriters, composers, producers. They have remained a group for nearly 12 years. Lived together 8 of those. They have shared all their skills to be the best of the best. Known to have a commitment to quality in everything they do. Their company started with 20 employees and were the underdogs that the big 3 of kpop tried to supress. They pioneered many things you seen other IDOL groups trying to copy. They got their real start by using platforms like Utube. Everything they fo is filmed.Even now they are in the army new footage is still being put out. All are all doing their national service and will come out of the army in 2025. They have signed a new contract.

The quickest most enjoyable way into grasping the breadth of this phenomena and the different genres and personalities is the highly entertaining TAYLOR MARI GUIDE TO THE BANGTAN 7. most reactors plan to split it up and instead often are not ready for it to end. 45 minutes seem like 10, as you get to know these kind goofy guys who use humour and their close brotherhood bond to deal with the pressures of extreme punishing schedules.

The translations is correct Suga calls their heater 'Tastless Ratautoite' which is a food dish that when cooked right it's very tastie and nice however if you don't cook it right eg good ingredients and cook it too long it the veggies in in the tomato base sauce go all mussy and don't taste as good.'. I love the dish but I notice American's don't know what it is so don't understand the reference. There are 3 Rappers of which 2 were part of the underground Hip Hop Scene as Rappers before they were BTS. They are also the main Song writer, Composers and Producers in fact one is an award winning Producer for other artists. Also you might hear the 4 vocalist occassionally rap. They are based in Hip Hop and R & B but use whatever genre they want and will mix genre's as they want. The 4 Vocalist are also song writers, composers and Producer but to a lesser degree eg haven't done as much as the Rappers but have done more and more over the last 10years. Mic Drop is a diss track to their many haters and this is the lighter remix. You should hear and see their live versions which are longer use a live band on stage with a heavier Bass sound with 2 extreme extra dance breaks. Hope that helps.

Welcome to the BTS rabbit hole. You’ll enjoy the ride if you like music because they make a lot of it. Hundreds of songs and I haven’t found one I don’t like. I have favorites of course; some don’t have videos but only lyric videos. Some only have live videos. Two of my favorites that you should just react to a lyric video for them are Louder Than Bombs and Hip Hop Lover. Louder Than Bombs I close my eyes and just drift away into the song. And almost never listen to it only once. Usually it’s at least twice in a row. Hip Hop Lover they talk about their influences from mostly American hip hop and how and why they love it. You’ll dig it.
