I saw Pantera in 1995 in Dallas. Hockey rink with plywood covering the ice and that fake green patio grass covering that. As soon as the lights went out the patio grass was lit on fire. When Pantera came on the plywood was pulled up and people were stage diving off of them. The crowd just held them up. I took my shirt off at the start of the show and threw it as far as I could. My buddy found it after the show half torched. Wildest concert I ever went to.

The fact that you misnamed them makes the reaction even more authentic. This band is one of the pillars of 90's heavy music. Groove Metal at its finest. A must is Cemetery Gates album version and perhaps another not so famous like, let's see.... Regular People or... Hard Lines Sunken Cheeks. Nice reactions, great vibes.

I saw them a long time ago. It was 91. It was the Vulgar Display of Power tour. They were with White Zombie. Those two bands together were amazing! I saw them in Norfolk VA at a place called the Boat House. It was a bunch of barges with a building on it........floating on a river! There was a lot of movement to say the least. I can remember a guy climbing the sprinkler system and dropping maybe 15ft into the crowd! Madness! I was 15. Best concert I ever saw. That was the first of many bands I saw. Much later, after the military and marriage, my wife and I saw Pantera at Ozzfest in 2000. It was July 4th in Atlanta Ga. I think I stayed drunk from 9am until midnight! That one was cool because my wife had never seen them. That night we also saw a side stage act called Disturbed. We both got severely sunburned, temporarily lost our hearing, and lost our car keys. Helluva night.

I was so confused at the start...I thought maybe you'd uploaded the wrong video or something, lol. You're absolutely right about two things in this one; first, Pantera definitely killed it live back in the day, and second, yeah, this sort of music (and I mean all the heavy, aggressive punk to metal stuff) is great for getting out your frustrations. There was always something a bit therapeutic about "The Pit" for me when I was a young man. I look forward to your real Slayer video! xD

Back in the 90's, I saw them play the 2ns ever show at a brand new amphitheater in Southern California. Huge venue. Phil came out on stage with a bong in his hand "I can't believe they put Fucking seats in the pot at one or shows! Rip them the fuck out!" The crowded ripped the seats out destroying the first several rows. It was crazy.

They're from right here between Dallas and Fort Worth Texas. I was at a show of theirs that was set up very similarly to the one from the video, and it was unhinged. Crowd was absolutely berserk. There's definitely something to be said for live Pantera - Domination live in Moscow is a common reaction, and between the nutty crowd and the nasty, heavy drop in the song it's a good choice. Yes, good metal like this is excellent 'rage therapy'. A new study concluded that metalheads are happier people overall, with one of the likely theories being that the music is an excellent way to release stress & anger; cathartic. I couldn't agree more, after 40 years of being one myself. Pantera was phenomenal live. On another note, if you want a deep rage therapy & cathartic metal song about betrayal, check out "All Love Is Lost" by Body Count (Ice-T's metal band)...scary.

If you read this, I love the little gaffe on the band name, lol... just at the beginning and so far i see a great reaction coming... please see Cemetery Gates, it might just blow your mind to see the range of this groove/heavy driven band, it is very different than Walk... pretty much everything they did was perfect for what they were trying to do... oh, and just a little piece for you... they started out as a "glam band"... yep, thats right... big hair, makeup and tights, lol... they went the right way... what you were seeing in the mosh-pit is what is called stage diving and/or crowd surfing and it can get insane with people jumping from like 20+ feet (up to about 90' is the ax I've heard about) onto the crowd Edit: and absolutely do "Domination Live"... something like 1.4 million people in that croud

I'm a veteran of 3 Pantera pits. Most Savage pits I've ever been in but also if you go down dudes would rip you back onto your feet. A live show like no other their energy was unmatched till the si get Phil got into heroin

Great reaction! You need to check out Domination Live. Dimebag Darrel has an amazing guitar solo. You will not believe it!

I didn't see anyone actually answer your question about the person jumping/falling into the crowd. They jumped. I'm not sure about the clips in the video but I can guarantee that it happened more than once. The more typical variation of this is "stage diving" where a fan will jump on stage and then jump out on top of the audience, who will catch them and pass them around a bit before putting them down. At crazier shows, the jump comes from higher up. I don't recommend trying this outside the metal community too often.

I saw these guys live, with a buddy, and I walked out with a dislocated thumb and he got a black eye. We were young and full of “pit energy”. Good good times

First time I say PANTERA was in Tokyo. Phil had only a few tattoos then. He stage presence was terrifying. The most intense front man since Henry Rollins joined BLACK FLAG.

Being in audiences like this at metal shows is actually relatively safe. Everyone looks after each other. Someone falls down, people pick you up right away so you don’t get hurt.

This is how all metal shows are. It might look chaotic and even violent but the crowd is always full of love and takes care of eachothers.

@@ratflail215 Yep. I started going to metal shows when I was a kid in the 1980s. First time I braved the mosh pit I was pretty nervous at first, but started having a good time pretty quickly. I remember the first time I fell after tripping over someone else’s leg and I was pretty scared, but no sooner had I hit the ground when I was very forcefully yanked up by a couple of humongous guys and I was right back on my feet. “Oh shit, this ain’t good! WHOOOAAA! And I’m up again! Nice” Hehe. I was pretty impressed with that. Hehe. And basically the same thing happened any other time I’d see anyone lose their footing at any show. Good times.

@@ClaytonMacleod yeah I took my 5-year-old to a Soulfly show last year and she wanted so bad to go into the pit but it was kind of brutal when she approached after she told me she had to go to the bathroom when in reality she wanted to go into the pit the pit actually slowed down to accommodate her and allowed her to dance for a few minutes metal is a generational thing they love welcoming in The Young and the old and pits are not as dangerous as they seem
