Super excited for this build. Y'all need to mic up though, the volume levels make the video really frustrating to watch.

@PerformanceProductions3 жыл бұрын
The 64 F100 is in need of some upgrades, but going electric isn't one of them. We still love gas engines, but we aren't only into gas stuff, anything that's cool, different and fast is good with us!
@cwhiseant3 жыл бұрын
As much as I love the freshly rebuilt 390 in my 67, I've been saying someone needs to do this for a while now. A 390 weighs about 650Lbs. Losing that, a C6 trans and a full tank of fuel is a LOT of weight you can offset with batteries. I would put them between the frame rails underneath if it were me, where the mustang tank conversions sit. I think the future of performance will be electric; you simply cannot beat the instant torque capability of an electric motor - and Teslas have beat enough supercars at the track to bear that out I think. I like my longbed though; if it doesn't fit a full sheet of plywood it ain't really a truck IMO. lol.
@330_garage33 жыл бұрын
You can't cut that bed down, where will you fit all the batteries?? Are you going to run the power brake booster with a dyson? HA! Kidding! Subscribed to watch Andrew install the giant touch screen in the world's first self driving F-100. So many crazy engineering challenges with this one, will be super fun to follow along and see all the solutions come together!

I suggest you follow old versions of EVTV. The late Jack Rickard was the guru. You're going to want to contact Richard and the guys there in Cape Girardeau, MO.and put a Quafe differential. You'll be glad you did. Looking forward to the build.

Love the Tesla motor idea, but you're way off about the long bed. With that beautiful long bed you can put a whole sheet of plywood in the back and shut the tailgate. You can also put two coolers up next to the cab and still sleep, fully stretched out, in the back. They also look better than a short bed because they're looooong! Please, don't be like everyone else and show how to shorten a long bed, it's been done a thousand times-same with Crown Vic swapped front ends (Ugh). Do something different, leave it long, and design your own front suspension.
@PerformanceProductions3 жыл бұрын
I hear you. We definitely like to do things differently but we also want to keep this build as practical as possible so it's achievable for anyone tinkering in their garage. If we let all our ideas run wild this truck may never get finished. Designing our own front suspension could potentially happen down the line but for now we have some ideas that will contribute to the Crown Vic swap community and we want to show those. And sorry about the long bed, it's just a preference and since we're already ruining our truck with a Tesla motor it's not like it can get worse, right? I seriously appreciate the input, we need the push back sometimes.
@ethanturner55673 жыл бұрын
@@PerformanceProductions, I get it. I fabricate custom stuff every day, but don't have the patience to video it. I don't know how you can stand to set up a shot (let alone a whole vid) and film in the middle of maintaining a workflow... My hat's off to ya. Have fun with the build! I look forward to seeing the motor installed.

Pretty much perfect timing for me, i started thinking about doing this to my 85 Bronco over a year ago but put the brakes on it as there's next to no EV spare parts here in Australia as yet. I decided to just sit back a bit and wait for things to change, learning how to do it in the meantime is ideal.

Thanks for the sub! And thanks for the input, we'll try to put some more info on where we source everything but the quick answer is that Tesla wont sell you anything but a whole car so you have to salvage everything.
