First EVER Visit | THE HOPPINGS - Europe’s LARGEST Funfair

Join me as I visit The Hoppings on the Town Moor in Newcastle for the very first time and WOW this funfair is massive (still not the biggest I’ve visited tho) lol
The Hoppings is dubbed as Europe’s Largest Funfair however this year it is 30% smaller than it usually is due to poor ground conditions
I really enjoyed my time here, it was great to meet up with good friend Mark Forrest aka Disney Mark plus getting on some of the very best travelling rides in the UK

Oktoberfest Munchen and Stutgart are indeed larger then Hoppings. Oktoberfest Munchen claims to have 800 rides, attractions and food stalls. And they have Olympia Looping.

Never been but recognise some of the showmen from Hull Fair. Your so brave with those rides ha ha. Sadly with the cost of living. It's too expensive for a family of 4 to really make the most of any fairs in the UK at the moment. It definitely isn't as big as what I thought. Ice jet is a phenomenal ride.

Gutted missed you I went on the Sunday. The big wheel is in same place every year & that in just over midway point. Alot of rides missing like Rock Rage, Void, Air Maxx, Topspin, to name a couple. Glad to see XXL come this far North & is an awesome machine. Hopefully back to normal size next year but rumours are could be last, I hope not 😢

Great vlog, truthfully you came the wrong year, ground was ruined which cost the showmen a lot of the ground. It would of been so much bigger. Maybe come back again when they have the full ground 😊 previous festival ruined part of the ground that's used for the fair.

On your comment about prices. People don’t realise the showmen don’t want to charge £3/4/5+ per ride, they have no choice, the rents from Newcastle council have gone up, the cost of fuel is sky high all the rides and stalls run on diesel, maintenance, replacement parts are getting more expensive, staff costs, insurance costs, travel costs. Everything costs money, it’s a business they’re running, they can’t run it at a loss. I travelled for years on the fair, and every year it got more expensive to run. Just remember before anyone makes any uneducated comments about the showmen and their rides their way of life prices etc, we’ve all gotta make a living, we’ve all gotta eat, we’re just out here trying to entertain the public while making a living. You’ve also gotta remember some of these snowmen will still be paying of the cost of buying the ride itself, which are worth 100s of thousands of pounds.

​@HoldTightTheNorthEastCrew I agree entirely! I also work on the fair seasonally and its insane the cost of stuff! The grounds in my home town are cheap so the cost to ride each attraction is cheap. But let's say for MK it's like 3/4 quid a ride but that's the rent that does it. Not by choice
