Ang gandaaa!!! ❤❤❤ I've been to almost all the major festivals in the Visayas (Sinulog, Masskara, Kasadyaan) but Ati-atihan will always hold a special place for me, because it was the first festival I attended, way back in the 80s ('86 or so, because I'm pretty sure I was 16 or so) and it's in Aklan, just a few hours from my hometown in Capiz. Kalibo looks pretty much like I recall from when I was last there in 2006 or so. I always loved seeing the performers. The costumes are sosyal na ha! Back in the day, the costumes were made of anahaw, walis tambo and coloured foil. 😂😂😂 Oooh, the local products made me literally salivate! I'm an inveterate clothes horse and those accessories made me swoon. And the FOOD. Hay naku, I miss Visayan food! Btw, BINACOL is actually pretty much Tinola except that it uses Coconut Water instead of plain water, so there is a different tang to it. And Tinu-om is delicious, with the highlight flavour being the lemongrass or Tanglad. You can opt for less spicy by using bigger long pepper instead of Siling Labuyo. I hope you enjoyed your trip. Thanks for the walk down memory lane. ❤❤❤

The ati ati in Ibajay only use the old costumes or the traditional until now. (Anahaw, nipa, shells, and more)

I love Binakol too back in my teenage years. I remember we'd go to Ati-Atihan for Binakol and Dinagyang for Tinuom haha because that was the only time we visited Aklan and Iloilo and want to taste authentic foods. But I'm surpise you havent experienced Dinagyang yet? since youre from Capiz, that is our family’s go-to festival back in the day. Diin ka sa Capiz? Im from Capiz as well President Roxas. Based on my experience, Ati-Atihan and Dinagyang are actually very similar to each other in terms of concept with the Ati but kind of opposite in terms of vibes. For me, Dinagyang has a more modern and party-like vibe, while Ati-Atihan is more traditional and cultural. That’s why I really love both as it all depends on your preference haha. Kung makapauli lang ako dayanan ko guid ang duha in 1 week both festivals and dishes haha😆 Nakakamiss lang❤

@@ericawalsh2693No naman, kakadto na mi sa Dinagyang. I forgot lang to mention. Our family is mainly from Lantangan. Di bala, Pres Roxas is what used to be called Lutod-lutod? I have cousins who live there also. One of these days, when we finally decide to retire, my hubby and I plan to settle in Capiz. Pero dugay pa ina. Basi 5-6 years pa. 😅😅😅 Enjoy, pangga!

A lot of people don't know that a banana tree grows from a very strong root clump. The new banana tree comes up very fast, once you harvest the bunch of bananas the tree is finished and you cut it down. In a very short time another tree is coming up out of the base of the cut tree.

Do you know the first Sinulog in Cebu is not in Cebu City? it was held at Municipality of Carmen in northern Cebu, it was originally called Ati-atihan sa Carmen it was inspired from the Ati-atihan in Kalibo... Sinulog in Cebu City is just started after the organizer got the idea from Ati-atihan sa Carmen... The Ati-atihan sa Carmen is now called Sinulog sa Carmen held on the same month just right after the Sinulog in Cebu

They put the chicken soup on the bamboo lumber that they cooked it on bamboo 🎋🍗🍲 And they wrapped the chicken on the banana leaf 🍗🌱🍌 And they even eat the banana stalk that they call it ubad instead of ubod that they put it on soup 🌱🍌➡🍲 They use the stalk of saba banana 🍌🌱➡🍲 And the road is gonna be closed soon because there gonna have a festival. Like in Cagayan De Oro when there is a parade or festival they close the road. And they even had a gown or shirt that is made from pineapple fiber 🍍➡🥻 Like the barong that it is made from pineapple fiber 🍍➡👔 And they even had a kare-x2 on the eatery 🥩🥬🍆🥜🥘 And they had a halo-x2 that they serve it with evaporated milk and condensed milk that you put it on your self 🍧🥛🥛
