The knobs holding my outboards motors onto my boat magically come lose over time, despite having padlocks on them. Check on that quite frequently until you see a pattern develop, or you'll lose an engine. Wash your trailer's bearings each time you remove it from salt water, or very dirty fresh water. You'll do great.

I was a 16 year old when my familly of 6 went to Black Lake from south Seattle,regular summers for several years in the early 60s. Perch, crappie, trout, carp, bass. We fished and camped on a rocky steep bank beside the road on the west side about a mile above the fork in the black lake toad. The stream just east of the fork flows south, is fulll of trout. Then anyway. Big crappie them days., shore people. 79 now, thanks for taking me fishing again. Shallows on the north end likely were the pan fry hang out.
@WAFishQuest2 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing those memories; I am grateful! That side with the stream is still the more productive side for warm water species. A lot of smallmouth over there now too. I'll have to do more Black Lake videos!

Congrats on the boat. Some suggestions 1) get a "no feedback" steering column. They are a few hundred dollars but keeps your steering wheel in place when not holding it so it won't turn or flop due to the weight of the motor. It will make a big difference when trolling and you are not holding the steering (when at the back of the boat) 2) Get some scotty ORCA or R5 rod holders (they are quick release and pull out easily when you get a fish on the rod and want to get it from holder to in your hand) 3) Check the pitch of your prop. See if it is the right pitch to balance speed vs getting out of the hole and up on plane. 4) A little buddy heater is handy for winter fishing/and or USB powered heated vest. Enjoy the boat!

I had the same kicker motor. Since you already have the steering link you should make a remote throttle for the kicker so you can have full control while trolling from the seat. You just need a 12v mini linear actuator, wireless 2 button motor controller and a speed controller to slow the linear actuator and some wire. It's probably $60 in parts. I used it for 3 years before boat was stolen and only thing I had to replace was the motor controller box as it got wet.

Congratulations on your vessel. I was hoping nothing happened to you since it had been so long since we have seen a new video. What a wonderful reason to not have one until now... The first place I ran my "new to me boat" was Black Lake, too. It was a short distance from Steve who fixed it up for me. 👍

Congrats on the boat! Make sure you bolt everything with large washers or a backing plate under the nuts and you should be good. Do not use screws to hold any rod holders or downrigger brackets.
