I remember when i did my first bit of soldering on a basin move and was turning the water back on i had left the taps open in bath, from downstairs i just heard a massive gush of water and thought the worst, ran back up the stairs to see it was just the bath filling and all the solder joints were dry - panic over :D

Hey dude just wanted to say I'm glad you and your channel are around. I started the level 1 course in september (albeit 10 years later than usual), With it being 1 week in doing practical and 1 week out doing the very early stages of theory it's been handy being able to watch your vids and fill in some of the blanks plus learn certain things earlier than the college planned. So yeah thanks again and hopefully I can actually finish the course with the relevant knowledge :D

Eh up. 70 year old plumber back again, I really enjoyed this video. Regarding the dodgy knees, I’m going for a knee replacement in March and I’m gunner be out of action for a while. I’ll watch your videos while I’m off to make sure I don’t forget how to do it. You work exactly how I do, as in a dab of solder on a Yorkshire fitting. I never trust em without it. 👍👍👍

Can’t thank you enough for this brilliant video(s) 👍🏻 I’m on the cusp of fitting two bathrooms (one at a time!) so was absolutely chuffed when you said you were doing yours! And I’ve never done this type of DIY before but feel ‘relatively’ confident as a result of the vids🤞 Thank you again (and thanks for keeping it so upbeat/funny/professional)👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Great video, can I ask for help.... we live in a 1970’s timber frame bungalow ( sat on concrete slab) the heating system works great but after some investigations realise that there is a leak between rads and heating tank , the flow and return pipes are under / in the concrete floors. I been told to get a company in to pin point where leak is then get a plumber to repair, then new floor finish... Thing is . if it’s the kitchen then to sort floor will be very expensive. And who’s to say that other copper pipe joints may be corroding in another room next month. Should I instead drop pipes from loft then inside stud walls to (12) rads and abandon the underfloor copper pipes in slab ? Hope above makes sense, cheers

No issues with adding a bit more solder, I been doing it for years. Any thoughts on lagging the hot pipes to keep the heat in, something I've always done. Pipes through joists if drilled or notched a piece of DPC to keep off the wood and effectively quiet.

One thing i would mention when checking for leaks after soldering is you can sometimes get condensation on the pipe/joins due to fresh cold water running through the warmer pipes - can make you think it's a weep.

If this bathroom had a concrete floor, for your copper water pipes, would you chase the floor, wrap the pipes, and embed them in the concrete, or surface mount and box in? In the middle of a bathroom renovation, and receiving mixed opinions from tradespeople

How do you decide if you’re going to drill the joists or notch them? Or does it depend on what’s already been done and reusing them
@pumpkinhead456
@pumpkinhead456 3 жыл бұрын
There's plenty info online about where you can and can't drill and notch joists. Usually you find the last plumber has hacked the floor to bits; if the house is still standing then best using their hacked bits!

Is it ok to add a sink into the shower waste pipe so they are both in the same waste outlet
@pumpkinhead456
@pumpkinhead456 3 жыл бұрын
If you do, probably best fitting an air admittance valve to stop the sink syphoning out the water from the shower trap. Best practice is for separate pipes to stack, but I've just added a bath and shower on one 50mm branch (I'm a DIYer, albeit a good one 🤣)
