Hi Tom great video. You seen to have a good grasp of water regulations. Can you tell me when a TMV is required?
@PlumbLikeTom2 жыл бұрын
In a domestic environment it is a legal requirement to provide maximum water temperatures at baths and showers either by the use of thermostatic taps or showers valves or by the use of blending valves. These regulations only apply to new builds or for buildings of material change of use, for example a barn to a dwelling and do not currently apply to simply just changing a bathroom suite. Commercially they are widely used on basins for example to ensure members of the public do not get scalded, there are obviously many other places they are installed commercially to control water temperatures at outlets

Thanks mate, one of my pet hates is pipes under concrete floors but when you find compression joints its just asking for problems in the future, we should hit 1k subs sometime by the weekend hopefully, thanks for the fantastic support as usual

Thanks mate, I am glad you are learning, just editing a video on dead legs in plumbing systems which should be out this Friday, it should give some good information on some legionella risks in plumbing

Meant to say gloves wise. I like the mechanix gloves for slightly heavier less dextrous stuff. Nitrile wise I like the black mambas.

@@PlumbLikeTom Another good video Tom, I’m really enjoying them. You can buy 1500mm long flexis in Screwfix if you ever wanted to, haha.
@normanboyes49832 жыл бұрын
You can buy 50 metre rolls of flexy, you only need a couple of rolls and a box of hose clamps to plumb an average house . Choice of colours too, green, red, yellow and orange.😉

Tom, I see your are using Centerbrand lead free solder. How do you find it? I have used literally all different brands over the past 17 years with no preference to any and always thought that solder was solder. I would have told anyone who said otherwise that they were daft! However I recently bought 4 rolls of the Centerbrand solder and I find it so hard to solder neatly with it. It doesn't seem to run nicely and always ends up seeming lumpy. I've tried it all different ways and I can't get my head round it. Maybe I have a bad roll. Branded solder like Fry's Powerflow is so much more expensive, but maybe there is a difference?
@PlumbLikeTom2 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, I generally use Lawton solder but i got these from plumb centre on offer at 2 for £25 before the massive price increase, its now at £26 for one plus vat, its ok, i know what you mean about different qualities of solder, years ago a local merchants were selling lead free for around £2 pound a reel and it was awful, god knows what was in it, i use laco flux and will not use anything else, its a superstition thing. I have not noticed anything massively different between centerbrand solder and Lawton's but will definitely do an experiment to find out, thanks for watching mate
@johnboddington2 жыл бұрын
@@PlumbLikeTom Yes that why I bought it too! Might take me a while to get through it 😂 I've bought a bulk lot of Powerflow now for a good price and soldering is now back to normal! Cheers for the videos Tom. I think I enjoy these the most of all the KZbin plumbers. John
