Hi RUss. Fun flight in a great airplane. Hope you enjoy it in good health for a long time. That whine sounds like noise bleed from the alternator. It's a simple fix you can do or ask your local avionics shop. They might even have a filter you can plug in line with your audio cable.
@RusscanFLY
@RusscanFLY 7 ай бұрын
I think you are absolutely correct. I’ve heard that before and other aviation videos from other pilots. When they said they plugged the power cable in to their camera, they got the wine. So I have another power source that I can use, and I’m not getting the wine there. But I like your option of a filter. Take care!

@@RusscanFLY I think it is more likely a ground loop.. If you power your camera from a anker battery or something and it goes away, you have a ground loop.

1:18 Oof. That buzz is brutal. I had it in Maggie - my Cherokee 140. You might have to switch to using a separate audio recorder that can handle line level audio. That’s what fixed it for me. 3:00 Maggie didn’t have toe brakes. Before that I was training in an airplane with toe brakes. And it took me almost no time to get used to reaching for the hand brake. Actually, the 235 has toe brakes. And it took me a lot longer to get used to using them. For probably 50-60 hours of flying, even though I had the toe brakes, I just used the hand brake. I still sometimes do. 3:36 Get used to being called “Dakota” by ATC. The fixed gear Cherokees < 235 hp have a type code of P28A. But the 235s have a type code of P28B. And when ATC looks that up, they see “Dakota”. So get used to being called “Dakota 1541 Charlie”. 4:31 is that an ADSB in receiver on your glare shield? It looks like a stratus. But I also see what looks like a sentry on your pilot side window at 5:20. 6:10 Ooh baby listen to the purr of that 6 cylinder! Such a deep voice Charlie has. 7:40 Yeah man that GFC500 is soooo sweet! I love the one in our airplane. Wait until you start flying it on an approach. A friend of mine describes it as “cheating”. Makes instrument flying a ton easier and as a consequence safer. I will no longer fly single pilot IFR without a working autopilot. If I have an IFR flight and the AP doesn’t pass my pretakeoff check, I’m cancelling. It’s that important. 8:36 YES HE IS!! 9:58 Oh wow! You have autotrim! First off, that’s really nice. But a word of caution: be careful with it. There are a few additional ways that autotrim can cause failures. Recommendation: read up on crashes related to autopilot trim. There are too many. We don’t have autotrim. Instead what we have is an indicator in the G5 that says “trim up” or “trim down” when the AP senses tension on the elevator that it wants relieved. 10:58 oh, you also have a single piece front windshield. That’s nice.

I love all the observations you made in that video. I gotta have you do my commentary with those phenomenal powers of observation! At any rate, yeah, you see my century on the window, and his ADS EB in on the dash. We were both checking for traffic, and since he technically has the Cfii/MEI, he was helping me make sure that we stayed on top of the traffic situation. Yeah, the flights have taken since this video, have been majority hand flights, using the trim lever. I want to get used to it, just in case something happens with the electric trim. also, my flights are fly out, and then as a reward auto pilot back home. So I try to get the best of both worlds. Anyway, Airplane is an absolute beast. Dust is still settling, and I’m still getting used to so many aspects and Airplane ownership. Take care and fly well!

Very nice. I liked the lack of toe brakes in the Cherokee. It taught students to taxi at slow speed and not to rely on brakes in any stage of flight. Like all short winged pipers, slowing enough to get a good sink and bringing dynamic throttle into play as the most excellent glide angle and rate of descent control allows a high percentage of prop blast on the short wing and lets us land slowly and softly as Wolfgang spoke of. Thus no need for brakes here either. Have fun and enjoy/learn the technology so that you are still in control.

You know, I didn’t even think about it the way you described in this amazing comment. For the life of me, I was trying to figure out why not have toll breaks, because every other planet that I’ve flown has had. But it definitely makes sense the way you presents The fact. Thank you so much for taking the time to send us amazing comment, and for all of the amazing support. Take care!

You make interesting comments, Jimmy. I have occasionally also flown a Grumman Cheetah, which has a castering nosewheel and thus you MUST use toe brakes to steer while taxiing.

Congrats! You were about 40 miles from me! No excuse not to get that instrument ticket knocked out! I flew by Philadelphia last week in a 182 headed up to NYC. Every leg of the trip home had parts that were IMC. Would have taken all week to get home without the Instrument rating.

Yeah, that’s definitely the plan. Just waiting for the dust to settle on on the fine little pieces after the Airplane purchase. But, definitely my plan to get my instrument rating for sure. Take care, and thank you for the support!

@@RusscanFLY Oh, forgot, that GFC-500 (Ottomagic) will bake the bread and slice it! LOVE that thing! That's a very nicely equipped plane (paused the video when you were talking about the auto-trim)! What do you true out at in the 235?

@@mcotherman5957 on these flights it was strange, because we were heading north east and had a 24 not Hadwin. I will still see about 115 kn true. Once we got into either neutral or tail, it was more like 120!

Good job, bruh! I'm in the process of getting my PPL. Gods willing, I'll test next week! I will try to purchase an airplane too. Orlando seems pretty cool. Could you leave his CFI contact info? & are you in a flight club?
@RusscanFLY
@RusscanFLY 7 ай бұрын
Thank you so much, brother! I really appreciate the support and positive feedback! I am so happy to hear that you’re on your own aviation journey. Be sure to stop back by to let me know how your check ride goes. Airplane purchasing is possible. You just have to make sure you have a good budget and a good plan. so regarding Orlando‘s information, he works with the buyer broker that I used to buy the plane, and do the pre-buy. So if you do get closer to buying an airplane, I can give you that brokers information. Lastly, no, I’m not in a flight club. I was going to go into one, but this decided by an airplane. Take care, and good luck on your check ride!

Awesome Russ! What's the year, make and model of Charlie? You mentioned it's a Piper Archer. I thought it was a Cherokee 180 when I saw the baggage door opened. But a Cherokee 180 is not a high performance airplane and you said this airplane is high performance. So, what is it? 😊
@RusscanFLY
@RusscanFLY 7 ай бұрын
It’s a piper Cherokee 235. The other way is described as a PA 28 bravo model. It’s high-performance because it has a 250 hp engine 180 hp engine typical chair. So, Charlie is high-performance!

Is orlando giving instructions? How can i contact him,
@RusscanFLY
@RusscanFLY 7 ай бұрын
I don’t think so. He is primarily a ferry pilot. He is a Cfi/MEI, but he works for the broker that I bought the airplane with. So most of his time is ferrying aircraft around the country.

fun getting used to a new tail number, then you change your tail number and feel REALLY dumb, lol. nice engine monitor- get used to uploading data to Savvy and analyzing it. otherwise I have nothing to add past 1dullgeek's comments :)

This is actually great advice. I’ve been researching more about what I see from the monitoring data, and what it means. Definitely more cognizant of what I’m seeing on the display for sure. Thanks again, and yeah, I’m probably gonna be tongue-tied for the better part of the next couple months until it settles in. Take care!
