Hi RUss. Fun flight in a great airplane. Hope you enjoy it in good health for a long time. That whine sounds like noise bleed from the alternator. It's a simple fix you can do or ask your local avionics shop. They might even have a filter you can plug in line with your audio cable.
@RusscanFLY7 ай бұрын
I think you are absolutely correct. I’ve heard that before and other aviation videos from other pilots. When they said they plugged the power cable in to their camera, they got the wine. So I have another power source that I can use, and I’m not getting the wine there. But I like your option of a filter. Take care!

1:18 Oof. That buzz is brutal. I had it in Maggie - my Cherokee 140. You might have to switch to using a separate audio recorder that can handle line level audio. That’s what fixed it for me. 3:00 Maggie didn’t have toe brakes. Before that I was training in an airplane with toe brakes. And it took me almost no time to get used to reaching for the hand brake. Actually, the 235 has toe brakes. And it took me a lot longer to get used to using them. For probably 50-60 hours of flying, even though I had the toe brakes, I just used the hand brake. I still sometimes do. 3:36 Get used to being called “Dakota” by ATC. The fixed gear Cherokees < 235 hp have a type code of P28A. But the 235s have a type code of P28B. And when ATC looks that up, they see “Dakota”. So get used to being called “Dakota 1541 Charlie”. 4:31 is that an ADSB in receiver on your glare shield? It looks like a stratus. But I also see what looks like a sentry on your pilot side window at 5:20. 6:10 Ooh baby listen to the purr of that 6 cylinder! Such a deep voice Charlie has. 7:40 Yeah man that GFC500 is soooo sweet! I love the one in our airplane. Wait until you start flying it on an approach. A friend of mine describes it as “cheating”. Makes instrument flying a ton easier and as a consequence safer. I will no longer fly single pilot IFR without a working autopilot. If I have an IFR flight and the AP doesn’t pass my pretakeoff check, I’m cancelling. It’s that important. 8:36 YES HE IS!! 9:58 Oh wow! You have autotrim! First off, that’s really nice. But a word of caution: be careful with it. There are a few additional ways that autotrim can cause failures. Recommendation: read up on crashes related to autopilot trim. There are too many. We don’t have autotrim. Instead what we have is an indicator in the G5 that says “trim up” or “trim down” when the AP senses tension on the elevator that it wants relieved. 10:58 oh, you also have a single piece front windshield. That’s nice.
@RusscanFLY7 ай бұрын
I love all the observations you made in that video. I gotta have you do my commentary with those phenomenal powers of observation! At any rate, yeah, you see my century on the window, and his ADS EB in on the dash. We were both checking for traffic, and since he technically has the Cfii/MEI, he was helping me make sure that we stayed on top of the traffic situation. Yeah, the flights have taken since this video, have been majority hand flights, using the trim lever. I want to get used to it, just in case something happens with the electric trim. also, my flights are fly out, and then as a reward auto pilot back home. So I try to get the best of both worlds. Anyway, Airplane is an absolute beast. Dust is still settling, and I’m still getting used to so many aspects and Airplane ownership. Take care and fly well!

Absolutely. Apparently, that’s not unusual. Somebody did say I can get them, but why go through the extra expense.
@jimmydulin9287 ай бұрын
Very nice. I liked the lack of toe brakes in the Cherokee. It taught students to taxi at slow speed and not to rely on brakes in any stage of flight. Like all short winged pipers, slowing enough to get a good sink and bringing dynamic throttle into play as the most excellent glide angle and rate of descent control allows a high percentage of prop blast on the short wing and lets us land slowly and softly as Wolfgang spoke of. Thus no need for brakes here either. Have fun and enjoy/learn the technology so that you are still in control.
@RusscanFLY7 ай бұрын
You know, I didn’t even think about it the way you described in this amazing comment. For the life of me, I was trying to figure out why not have toll breaks, because every other planet that I’ve flown has had. But it definitely makes sense the way you presents The fact. Thank you so much for taking the time to send us amazing comment, and for all of the amazing support. Take care!

You make interesting comments, Jimmy. I have occasionally also flown a Grumman Cheetah, which has a castering nosewheel and thus you MUST use toe brakes to steer while taxiing.

This is actually great advice. I’ve been researching more about what I see from the monitoring data, and what it means. Definitely more cognizant of what I’m seeing on the display for sure. Thanks again, and yeah, I’m probably gonna be tongue-tied for the better part of the next couple months until it settles in. Take care!
