Caladan Oceanic has successfully re-located, surveyed and filmed the USS Johnston, the world's deepest known shipwreck that principally lies at a depth of 21,180ft (6,456m). Victor Vescovo (US Navy Command Ret.) piloted the submersible Limiting Factor to the wreck during two eight hour dives - the deepest wreck dives in history. This video shows the bow of the USS Johnston.

The Johnston fought beyond any possible requirement of honor, turning their duty into the highest form of heroism. That can be said for several ships which fought against impossible odds, and rightfully so. But the Johnston holds the curious accolade of emerging victorious over impossibility, something which, while it does not increase it's heroism, does make the story a happier one.

@@Italiancenturion586 she is almost definitely in one of the deep sea trenches which means that there are very few submersibles that can get to such a depth there is no salvage equipment of any description that will survive being brought down that deeply. You would have to design a sub capable of going down to that depth with cutting tools capable of surviving at such a depth there is no way that would be profitable you're probably looking at couple million dollars to design a sub that can go down that deep and you're probably looking at many more millions of dollars to get tools that can survive as such a great depth. You're not getting many millions of dollars for the wreck of the Johnston. And to my knowledge no ship of any significance went down near any of the trenches so it may not be profitable at all for any reason to invest in such a vessel capable of going down to that depth and salvaging wrecks

@keith moore unless they can get a sub that can survive pressure similar to 30 elephants standing on a penny then im shur Johnston will be safe, also like that zombie player said it would cost millions to just get to her, and with the damage she took in the fighting and sinking to that depth there is very little they could steal that hasent been destroyed.

No because before all we had was Johnston's superstructure now we know where her hull is. a fun fact is Johnston's superstructure held the previous record for deepest shipwreck known, but I imagine the hull went I'll let the humans find the superstructure and then I'll go even deeper so this way they'll know where I am. Because if I remember correctly next to her superstructure was a skid mark in the sand or whatever you call sediment at that depth going into the trench itself or deeper into the trench I forget if the superstructure was in the trench or not.
