First Full Day With My NIO EC6 - Visiting Chinese Fortified Watchtowers in Zili Village

After picking up my brand new NIO EC6 on Sunday, I took it out for a full of day of fun and testing it out. I left Shenzhen in the morning, heading towards Kaiping City, Zili Village, on a mission to finally see the old ' diaolou' aka watchtowers.

The speed change could possibly be because of the speed limit of the road/highway that you were driving on. Usually highways have a 120km/h upper limit but some parts have 80km/h

the slow down from 120 to 80 is because of the speed limit changed, the car can recognize speed signs along the highway.

I wonder if the speed limit dropped from 120 to 80 in the area where the sudden deceleration happened? If so, maybe there is a setting where the car drives at the speed you set regardless of the posted speed limit? just a thought

Be careful using the Autopilot in traffic. The car will have a hard time stopping if another vehicle abruptly jumps into your lane.

I would love to know why the mileage varied so differently from 514 that should have done the trip both ways without charging. Could it be if you are using air conditioning and other electrical stuff that might have used extra power? Thanks

Its visual glare that's causing the "Phantom Breaking", I thought only tesla has them, since they don't use Radar as a feedback, Nio need to figure the phantom braking out, like (If Visual == Danger) && Lidar == Detection ) than break...

The percent and estimated km remaining seemed to be going down a lot faster as it got lower though. Not sure I could have made it much farther at the rate it seemed to be depleting once it hit 30 and below. When I get outside shenzhen a decent ways I’ll drive from 100 to zero and then have the service that drives to me and gives me a mobile recharge. Then I can see how far it really can go.

You travelled 362km from 84% to 15% battery. That means 69% of the battery could last 362km. So from full (100%) to empty (0%) battery the car could travel approximately 535km. Sorry am I missing something here when you said you could get around 400km from full to empty?

I was ball parking the figure but a) it was draining faster the lower it got, or seemed to, and b) I think in most real world conditions people to drive to 0 percent. Probably “refill” around 10-20 percent right? So a little over 400 km seems about like what you’d get, not necessarily the max distance you could travel.

I look forward to seeing you travelling to lesser known but interesting places in China. And Xinjiang too especially to those locations where the ASPI used satellite images to identify building complexes that they claim are concentration camps where millions of Uyghurs are incarcerated. GPS coordinates were provided in the ASPI reports.

Not to mention there are countless counties, towns & villages as well as scenic spots, natural parks & reserves, famous mountains & lakes, deserts, etc. Btw, did you take driving test in China or is International Driving Permit (IDP) recognized in China?

Today was on autopilot in a horrible traffic jam and it was awesome. Didn’t have to do anything. I hate traffic jams. I’m sure all the kinks will continue to get fixed in the future. The range yea not amazing... will swap to 150kwh or et7 maybe when that’s out. The real test for range and convenience will be when I really set off on this road trip around china.

@@Eric_Garrison I heard Chinese consumers aren't as concern about EV range since most just don't drive as far of a distance daily as Americans. Ability to get the "charge" back is a more important concern. I think Li auto are the ones who are focusing on Long range, they wanted to target a different market than other EV makers.

Yea most Chinese don’t really do road trips. It’s not a cultural thing, plus highway tolls are quite expensive. Easier, faster and cheaper to fly or take a high speed rail generally.
