If you're gonna swap out the wheels, the best (imo) are either Sport Design wheels or Turbo wheels. I have Turbo wheels on my own 987.2 Cayman and they looks fantastic, and because of how thick they are, easier to clean. And absolutely get a "Cayman S" badge back on, it just looks better. Either way, hope to see a new Porsche project soon!

You forgot to add in the new front seat repair or replacement. Also, around the 10 minute mark there is a shot of a headliner needing attention. If you ask less than $30k, you will attract the worst kind of buyer. All the personal attention dropped on this car to get it where it is today is priceless.

Wheels are Victor Equipment Innsbruck, rotary forged. I had them on my 996, and went back to OEM.

Regarding the shifter,in the cayman you'll need to replace the shifter cables eventually. Might as well go with a short shifter. I recommend the stock gt3 set up of that year or go with B&M. For the exhaust you can go with Soul;it's perfect for this car. You can also throw a tune on it, EVOMS is the best,ppl also like the softtronic tune.

Nice video, as always. Couple of thoughts: - Add the Cayman S logo back. - Lose the aftermarket wheels. They make the car look “player” - not a compliment! - - Go with factory 18s, in silver. They handle much better and won’t knock your teeth out. - Yes, the 19 inch turbo wheels look great - but only use them if the car has PASM. - When you put new tires on the front make sure they match the brand on the rears. - Any metal filings in the oil would likely be from the IMS bearing failing, not bore scoring. But because this is a 2008 Cayman, it has the upgraded bearing with less than 1% failure rate. Good to go! - Not sure you ever mentioned how many miles the car has on it… But you should probably do the serpentine belt, if you haven’t already.

You had to level it horizontal for draining all the oil, not on a ramp...Because of that the overfill...Not all the old oil is drained

As far as the badge I would see if the car has the badge delete option. Leave it off if it was off from the factory. Replace if it had it. One thing you notice with Porsches is the more original the better generally when selling.

01:44 when referring to modern "mutligrade" oils like 5W-50, 5W-30, or whatever the number is, the (W) technically doesn't stand for weight it stands for "winter". The lower number still represents the low temperature viscosity and the higher number is the viscosity at operating temperature/high temperature.

I think 18-20k out here is a very fair price out here in our neck of the woods. Back when I was shopping around I found a couple cayman S with 120-130k ish miles for around 18k. From what I’ve seen typically the cars that are under 60k miles are the ones that sell for 25+ again for an S manual and sport chrono. As for the wheels I think those are HREs? No idea if they’re real or knock offs or something. With those sport rims I think you guys could probably ask 23 and get offers pretty close to that no problems. You’re still making over 50% at that price so I think that’s solid. Also $325 for that detail job isn’t bad my 944 really needs some love bad.

I hope you guys checked the oil lever after the oil circulated now that you did a proper test drive. Remember you said the dash said the oil lever was over. Now that the oil circulated it may be under the correct level. I would double check.

You deserve the profit you will make. You took a huge gamble. The odds were way above 50/50 that you would have a parts car. I think when we all saw the plug (I think is was) was out showing someone had bore scoped it and then left it apart, we thought it was toast. But you took the gamble and won. Don't blow that profit. You'll lose one soon. But you guys will win more than lose. Your smart and passionate. And I can't upvote this one. I think the exhaust notes of a stock 986-7 are absolutely perfect. You're going to make it sound like a kids rat-rod.

Get a good replacement stock drivers seat not the Corbeau track ones. Badge back on and although those wheels are nice it’s a bit too black on black so get them refinished perhaps in a subtle gold colour?

Someone had a LOTUS color scheme. Dark gold rims a dark gold strip on the bottom of the doors and a strip on an added front spoiler. It looked perfect with the black.

Great job on sorting out the problems on this Cayman S. Leave the wheels as is. You will only be spending money you won't get back in the sale. Don't put the "Cayman S" badge on the car. It only makes it harder to clean when you have all of the crevices where dirt collects. You took the chance on this car and it worked out alright. Even though you don't have much money into it doesn't mean that you give it away to someone else. Because you had the skills to diagnose the problems and make repairs, you saved around 3k or more if you paid a shop to do it for you. I hope you at least double your money.

I bought a 2007 base Cayman and regretted ever selling it. My kids remind me of it every day. I went through the whole oil separator issue and managed to fix my car when I had it. If I ever have the chance to buy another one, I will give it to my son.

RS Spyder Design wheels are fine if they are finished in the OEM silver and black.. defo needs the rear badges. Personally I'm not a fan of black tinted windows on them...these cars look awesome and are very rare with a red interior. Black leather is very dull.
