I hate seeing a dirty work area, all that crap going into the pump internals. It's a very easy/dumb way to mess up your pump. Always clean your work area before disassembly, it makes things much easier to work with, see, and prevent unnecessary damage. It's as they say... "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure".

good vid, only thing missed was to mention that you need to back your full power screw out prior to reinstalling the top or else you'll break your lever inside.
@themadmailler
@themadmailler 8 жыл бұрын
yes, i missed that because i did not do it. I didn't know why you were supposed to back it out, so i didn't. No harm though. if you carefully re attach your cover and make sure it isn't hung up on anything, you'll be fine. If you do break it though, you'll be taking off the IP!

I have a 93 5.9 Cummins with the VE rotary like you have in your video. I can start right up and when I push on the gas pedal it barely ribs up at all and flatlands out at about 1200 rpm’s. What could be us being? And just so you know it’s getting 10 pounds of fuel pressure and I put a new fuel filter on it. Getting fuel is not a problem
@themadmailler

hmm... tough one. how is the throttle cable? try revving it with the throttle lever on the pump.

thank you for this great video! But I have one question. How do you remove the fuel supply line crossing over the top of the tps? Do I hold the top nut with a wrench while turning the bottom with another wrench? Thank you!
@themadmailler
@themadmailler 8 жыл бұрын
Thanks! glad you enjoyed it. I don't know what you mean by "tps", but i assume you're talking about the one on top of the injection pump. It's like a larger brake line fitting. keep the bottom fitting (closer to the pump) stationary and turn the top one. be careful, the nut may be rusted onto the line and want to turn the line with it.
@db7454
@db7454 8 жыл бұрын
themadmailler themadmailler sorry, I mispoke. I meant the throttle lever. But yes, that's the correct fuel line. I'm not entirely sure but I think it's the opposite of what you describe. Turning the top wants to turn the whole line, and there isn't any rust. The bottom fitting appears to turn but not easily.
@themadmailler
@themadmailler 8 жыл бұрын
There is probably rust in between the nut and line - it doesn't take much to stiffen it up. use oil and a torch to try to loosen it up, and work it back and forth a little at a time. the bottom fitting doesn't turn easily because it's still attached to the top, which does not want to spin. be careful with it, but you'll get it.

you mean around 3:24, when i was touching the banjo fitting on the boost reference line? good eye! i think that must have been a flake of paint, because i safely recovered the two copper washers on the banjo bolt when i removed it from the AFC top. I got a laugh at your wrench comment! Metric wrenches are always good candidates for modification... but sometimes it has to be done on an american wrench too. that's why you can never have too many duplicate wrenches. thanks for watching!

@@kenuber4766 Thanks ken, I figured it out a while ago. Its been running great. Noticeable amount of power increase. I just need to ditch that 3spd auto and get a NV4500 swaped in. Its runs out of gears. The engine is just screaming to get to 60, which is barely able to keep up with traffic.
