The white residue on the surface is just sodium bicarbonate. Excess sodium is migrating to the surface and being neutralized with carbon dioxide in the air. It can be hosed off when the polymer is done curing.

Now we're talking! Great reporting. I remember watching you meet William at a conference - it's great to see his progress with this material and 3D printing. Would love to see the printer in action using this material.

One thing I really like about 3D printing homes is that most of it gets built over night, I read about a family who were having a wood home built, their quote to build was $100,000, they worked very slowly, the house looked half done and they said that they were over budget and it would cost $150,000 to finish the home. Eventually it got built 2 years later and I don't know how much it cost to build.

Thanks for posting Geopolymer. I was interested when I first saw their interview at one of the Expos last year and while this house doesn't look attractive to me, I realize it's their first one, so KUDOS for that! I'll be looking forward to William's podcast. 💜

I had to explain 3D printed building to my grandparents tonight. It did not go well as I explained my interests in the topic and my dreams of printing my own house in the future. I explained to them how there must be an individual on this planet who has witnessed all of these successful past printing projects, and they must be the most knowledgeable person about it. I'm glad to see you are that individual documenting this process.

Haha thanks, it’s still not really very cost effective yet but I think construction automation will save the world!

I'm very surprised that the production time was only 21 hours. I imagine it takes just 3 or 4 people to build the masonry for this house. It's just incredible. It reduces the cost of labour and equipment enormously. And all this without compromising on the quality of the material. It's revolutionary! Well done to the whole team and I hope that this technology will be developed all over the world.

Geopolymer all the way! A plastering / stucco system that breathes would complement the wall cavity system. And would be awesome if you could create a clay mortar for the floor. So much nicer being able to walk directly on the earth, not cold hard concrete slabs like building nowadays. Nga mihi

Yes it may have only taken 20 hrs to print but how long did it take to transport ,setup and take down the printer ? Time lines are always misleading
@automateconstruction
@automateconstruction Жыл бұрын
Certainly doesn’t include set up time but they hired out the print to another company so it’s not entirely relevant to the focus of this video, the geopolymer is the interesting part. I’ll focus the strong print team in a different video I already had them on the podcast.

Is there any 3D printed houses going up in Oklahoma and if so where? Or is there a way I could get ahold of a company to come out and do a 3D house for myself that I would design? And if so what would be the cheapest company to use?

mortar is only good for 20-30 years? My parent's house was build in 1926. No problem with mortar nor concrete basement. I know CO2 helps our plants

There is concrete in old Rome next to the Mediterranean that is over two thousand years old. Also carbon dioxide does not pollute, it sustains the plant life. In geologic time CO2 is extremely low now. Don't get me started on global warming, it's all a lie for control.
@CorvidianSystems

don't worry, buddy... there is more than enough CO2 for all the plants on the planet. We need less of it, not more.
