MindBender books have been a really fun addition to our typical arithmetic work. The logic problems are more like games than work for G7! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!

Thank you for these videos! I love that you make one video for each subject- it makes it easier to follow and shortens the video time which is always a plus. I'd love if you could give a quick reference as to where you buy each item as you talk about it. Thanks again!!

Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! I will try to remember to mention where I got things in the upcoming curriculum videos - thanks for the reminder! I bought most of the supplies from Bookshark (Singapore Math), Zulily (Arithmasticks and Kumon), and Amazon (Intelligence sticks and Mindbenders). I bought a set of the Games books for various subjects from eBay.

If you can find a game called Logic Street (discontinued but still a lot of them floating around) it is the same concept as the Thinking Skills book you use! We love it!

Love the divided tray and marble idea! Also if you like mazes, we used the Kumon one you have and when we found it too easy we got an Usborne one - much more challenging but still not too hard! They have quite a few to choose from. The Space one is great for boys!

My kids go to regular school, however, early on I realized the deficiencies of the traditional educational models so, after regular school class, I homeschool my children. I got my kids started my kids in math using this same book. It is wonderful as it provides a strong foundation before getting into more advanced use of bigger numbers. I realized that the traditional methods keep moving with materials leaving gaps in knowledge. Particularly, most kids start adding and subtracting tens (two value numbers) without being able to mentally calculate numbers up to 20. Children need to master mentally (and one must know what I mean by saying "MASTER MENTALLY") calculations using the base 20 numbers before moving to larger amounts and more complex operations such as multiplication and division. This book series is excellent at getting the kids started in mastering the fundamental blocks to mentally calculate, first 20 numbers and the four operations.

I agree! Learning the fundamentals is key to building math fluency later on.

Do you use all of these for 1st grade? I'm debating between math mammoth or singapore for my son. Which is better? He's in the 1st grade now.
@ProjectHappyHome
@ProjectHappyHome 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, we did. 🤓 We focus a lot on reading and math in the early years. I wouldn’t say either is better - I love lots of things about Singapore, and we still supplement with Singapore Math Challenge. I like the combination of styles in MM, and the fact that it provides more practice alongside the mental math.
