At this stage, I think your approach is exactly the right one. Changing too much at once is a great way to run right by a solution to a problem. I am eagerly awaited each of these videos and will be manically checking back for more.

Just keep at it, I'm impressed with the fit and finish of this gun compared to other homemade firearms, the key thing is that after the first one is done, and timed perfectly, you have a blueprint for all the ones that follow...

how about the spring in the hammer ? it doesn't take a lot of force to set the primer off. the slide has to fight the hammer cocking also. it may give you another avenue you could try to lower resistance.
@clintonwestwood54988 жыл бұрын
+Waffenschmiedin x The spring is somewhat anemic and I'm really surprised how reliable it is in setting the round off.
@Waffenschmiedinx8 жыл бұрын
lol the one in my .22 rifle I built is to. I was amazed it set rounds off at all but it works just fine. it sure made working the bolt easier to :)
@Ki113r2108 жыл бұрын
good to see it working better. iv got a handgun project in the back of my head that i want to be able to work on, but iv got a couple major hurdles; the most sophisticated tool i own is an old delta drill press, no welder, so i have to to all my machining with a drill and files, and i cant weld things together. i am starting off with a revolver barrel blank i got for $15, which is nice, but since its threaded for an unknown frame ill have to have someone match the threading for the barrel trunnion. after some debate, im going with the quite obscure 44 russian cartridge, since i have a 44 caliber barrel, and its close enough to 45 acp balistics that i can pull off a straight blow back gun.
@clintonwestwood54988 жыл бұрын
+Afro Sergeant That will be a fairly heavy bolt. As far as tools go, you're halfway there. That old 10" Craftsman I have, has been abused since 1990. I think I got it on sale for $129. It was money well spent. The lack of tools just means it takes longer:)
@Ki113r2108 жыл бұрын
+Clinton Westwood rough calculations give a 1.5x1.5x3.5 inch bolt weighing about 2.4 pounds. I'll save work where I can and use a Enfield mk3 bolt head and AK internals
@bananapotpie38908 жыл бұрын
one step closer.. I use guide rods for hammers.. found early on that some times the springs would bend after cocking them a couple times and wouldnt work anymore
@bananapotpie38908 жыл бұрын
nice job on the extraction BTW :)
@clintonwestwood54988 жыл бұрын
+Banana potpie Thanks. A little bit of work to go. It's a lot easier now that I don't have to set up to clamp for firing. I've done dimensionals on all critical parts and everything is good. In the hand only from now on.
@chapiit088 жыл бұрын
Check also the tension on the hammer mainspring and the geometry of the friction curve at the rear slide and the hammer face as all adds resistance to the proper movement of the slide under fire. I see that you did install an ejector already.

Thinking of making one of these, is it worth the Time, Money & Energy ? I'v been thinking about building one of these have the plans right next to me of this gun that i got online, How many things did you have to change to make the gun a 100% working gun or close enough so i could use it as a Self Defence weapon when i go camping. Thx Loved Your Video's
@clintonwestwood54988 жыл бұрын
+Crazy Street Boyz i changed very little. Of course the drawings are simplistic and allow for lots of variation. Most of the changes were final fit and finishing to allow smooth reliable operation. It was a lot of work and the idea for me wasn't to save money, more of prove or disprove another internet source.

How have you worked, the barrel ? What is the type of ammunition used ? The width of the barrel walls ? The types of steel ( the ? Standard) Machine What do you need to create them the gun, how did you screw the barrel ? :) Thank you for all the information. Do you have any other project like this? gun full auto, etc ...
@clintonwestwood54988 жыл бұрын
This one is .25 acp ammunition. The whole design utilizes mild 1018 steel. I bored and rifled with a homemade rifling machine. It's demonstrated on my channel. The barrel is not screwed. It's pinned in place with triple wall roll pins. This gun is now functioning in semi-auto. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4LPqpyqhKx3i8k I'm building a .380 acp and documenting the build now. No full auto in my future because of legal issues.

Clinton Westwood this is very good job. Congratulations. On the pictures we can see layouts. Are they yours? I mean your own design. Do you share it?
@Diebulfrog797 жыл бұрын
The problem with slide is weight factor for recoil. You can put a saddle on the slide. Like they did in WW2, They made 9mm, and 45 cal. Please do the research on this. And use less home made material.
@clintonwestwood54987 жыл бұрын
The slide weight is correct for this caliber.The whole idea behind these plans is to use readily available material. Match gun quality... nope.

Please dear god stop crossing your thumbs on the back of the gun, you might have been fine with this gun. But if you do that with other pistols your gonna have a very bad time(aka possible hospital trips) some are worse than others. You should google beretta bite that weapon will give you the worst possible scenario. But on another note good fucking job building that not many people can build and auto loading pistol out of tools a lot of us just have sitting in our garage.
@clintonwestwood54988 жыл бұрын
+Scott Stallbaum Point taken. I was waiting for critiques on my form. It's a very small pistol and I have big hands. I'll certainly try better form.
