Sorry for the unpleasant experience at the food court guys but this is a norm nowadays to ensure the operator have some business if not everyone just eat and don't drink. That street is good but I would have taken you guys a few other places better if I was back in Penang with you guys. Perhaps next time :)

It's now becoming a norm in Malaysia foodcourts or kopitiams a compulsory to order drinks if you want to dine in. So just order 1 drink to make life easier for everyone!😅😂

I'm from KL and find it strange that customers are forced to buy a drink or pay a small fee. This is so unacceptable! Just ruins customers' dining experience!

Usually when you are seated like at a drinks stall's table instead at the stall where you order food, they expect you to order at least a drink fr their stall. That's the unwritten understanding. It's different at mall food court where you don't necessary order at the stall in front of where you are seated. Just so you know, why they insist on you ordering at least a drink fr them.

The drinks section is usually run by the owner, separate from the stall. What the lady said was correct. If you don't order now, her workers will keep asking you what you want to order since there are no drinks on your table.. that will be annoying.. Just order some drinks and stop making a big deal out of it!!
