The zipper being faced up was a manufacturing defect they assembled the awning upside down. So everyone who got that bad batch complained about the zipper being faced up & that water would seep into the awning carry bag when it got wet it would basically turn into a water pouch hahaha. I guess they finally addressed & fixed the issue since yours seems to be assembled with the zipper facing down.

Some of the models come with the zipped bag installed upside down. So the zipper would be facing upwards, but you can flip the bag over so water doesn’t get in as easy.

So far so good. I made an update video showing on video how its holding up and how its looking. Still happy with purchase and would recommend for weekend warriors. If you are planning to use every day or in high winds, then id recommend something more heavy duty.
