@@maximumoverland how long did it take you to get yours? NOBODY had them in stock so I had to order them and have them shipped straight from the manufacturer and it took 6 weeks for the set of 5 to arrive. I'm coming from the Patagonias and there is absolutely no comparison to these. I'm in a rubicon and never had to lock up and was going through swampy clay mud up to my bumpers with a total of 4.5" of lift. Stunning tire and I'll be putting these on everything going forward. Good job Mickey Thompson !

Well congrats on the two cool rigs, and to be able to get these for both. Since this review I have come to the conclusion that they are all the best all around MT made to date. This includes everything too, mud, rocks,sands,tire life, sidewall, road noise and any other category. About the only complaint I have is they are not more available to date in 37-40 sizes. So it's grab em if you see them, because even in the Professional world so many racers in crawling and Baja type racing are switching to them. I just bought a JLUR and plan on running a 2.5" lift with 35s on 17s. Will primary be a daily driver with occasional off-road done. I'm torn between this baja boss, cooper STT pro and the MTZ-P3.... I definitely want a quiet MT for daily driving but a good tire for offroad manners👌
@maximumoverland
@maximumoverland 2 жыл бұрын
So I’ve run both the BAJA and the STT. I will tell you right off the Cooper is a far harder compound than the Baja. The harder compound the harsher the ride. The second thing I will say is as MT’s go the Cooper would again be louder for sure and will get louder as they wear down and the lugs spread farther apart. I’ve heard lots of good about the MTZ but never run them. I will say the Baja even though it’s an MT it operated more like AT as well. It has great highway manners and even does well on road in the wet where most MT’s don’t. So I hope this helps make your choosing a little easier. Thanks for watching and if you haven’t already subscribed please consider it ! Thanks again 🙏🙏

Those tires ended up being junk for me, they were rough from the beginning. Two of the ended up being defective and they pro rated them so I got way less money back. They ended up warranting all 5 tires because they couldn’t replace the tires, yet they don’t have any available. So now I think I’m going with KM3’s

Wow you’re the first that I have heard having any issue with them, especially being hard. I’m sorry you had a terrible experience, I know we all work out ass off for our money and it’s hard to waste. I have the km3 in a 39 now. Not a terrible tire at all but cupping is something I’m constant fighting with them with only 5k miles on them. They are very air pressure sensitive. I had to rotate them at 4k to stop the fronts from getting worse. As far as capability, I would say they are average in rock, mud and wet. Hope you find a happy medium the next tire you get. Falken Wildpeak MT is a great tire, so is the Toyo Open Country MT, Patagonia MT, BFG KA02 , and the Nitto Trail grappler. Anyone of those are great choices. I’ll throw in the General Grabber x3 MT as an honorable mention. 🙏 thanks for commenting.

@maximumoverland
@maximumoverland 2 жыл бұрын
Hey BluePencil, thanks for watching and commenting. It means a lot. You can run 37’s on stock wheels just fine for a daily for ever and it didn’t really bother it much at all. Once I started adding weight like bumpers, sliders, full length interior drawer system and 50% rear seat delete the weight caught up. I love my stock wheels and they look even better with some real meaty tires. 35’s would not cause any issues in my mind for your daily at all, would be a breeze for those 4:10 gears. Maybe one tick or two mpg at very most. I think you would be totally happy and the look would make you forget the rest. Hope this helps, and if you ever need anything feel free to reach back out.

@maximumoverland
@maximumoverland 9 ай бұрын
Thanks for jumping in TJ with a hell of a question. I’m a huge fan of the MTR , great tire , great traction. The biggest difference I can tell is compound. The Baja can be run on a one ton truck and last where as a MTR would degrade really quickly from the weight. But it doesn’t mean your sacrificing grip for strength. The Baja boss works well and really every condition because of compound strength and tread pattern. What I can’t say is that you know what you’re doing Pickin tires, so if you want to try a new style tire, that easily rivals the MTR But it’s also a step up in technology go for the Baja . If you’re comfortable with where you’re at and how your rig performs on the MTR‘s, there’s no reason to change. I hope this helps and if you have anything else to add, please message me back. Also, consider liking the video and subscribing it’s free to you. See you man.

Would you be considering Baja Boss X for your 40s or do you think you'll stick with the Boss MT?
@maximumoverland
@maximumoverland Жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for jumping the comments ! I appreciate it, it helps the channel. Consider subscribing if you haven't already. So I actually ran the Pro Xs before the Baja Boss M/T and it and the X run the same compound essentially. Unfortunately the only draw back was they were too off and had a lot of chunking. So unless you have a trail dedicated rig, I probably wouldn't do it. While that softness is wonderful for crawling the highway would eat em up. Baja still remains on top of my list for sure. Since I have run the Toyo Open Country M/T, BFG KM3, All Country Ironman M/T and the Fallen WildPeak M/T. I would still leave the Boss at the top. Hope all this helps.

@@maximumoverland I currently have the KM3s and just a bit disappointed in traction at Wold Caves and Inks Ranch. They're fine at Hidden Falls. I'm getting the MT because I've wanted 40s for a long time and won 1K off a set of them from 4wp. The Boss X is when I ordered but I don't think MT has shipped them yet.... So your recommendation would be don't get the X and just go with the M/T for a harder compound huh? If my kids weren't gonna be driving the Jeep I'd definitely stick with the X but you have me thinking otherwise now.
@maximumoverland
@maximumoverland Жыл бұрын
@@maltz99 that’s exactly correct!! They pavement will eat them to pieces but the MT will Stand up to whatever and they’ve been great in slick rock, sand , mud, wet rock, volcano rock, decent in snow. The X would be absolute if it didn’t see the highway in Texas. And I do agree the KM3 wasn’t even as good as my Toyo Open Country MT or Ironmans. And they are both “harder” compound tires. How would these tires do for a weekend hunting truck that runs into a lot of Texas red clay? I have a long drive there each way do a pure mud tire doesn’t really work for me with all that highway driving …. Would you still get this over a nittoridge grappler or wildpeak in my application?
@maximumoverland
@maximumoverland Жыл бұрын
So thanks for jumping in the comments first of all, I really appreciate it and secondly, there’s a lot to unpack here. So, first of all, I would definitely say yes, over the ridge grappler because, the MT has better ability in the mud and slicker surfaces. Now it’s not as quiet as the red grappler on the highway but the compounds are real similar so you would still get good wear out of them. Now comparing them to a wild peak, they are not going to be as aggressive as far as deep voids but I feel that they would compete just as good or slightly better in the mud. The second thing I like about them over the wild peak is they have a better sidewall, compound and structure therefore side puncture would be less possible. All that being said, the MT is just a little higher quality tire then the other two. If you wanted to add one more against this one as a hybrid highway/off-road tire it would be the Toyo Open Country R/T. I hope this helps and if you liked the video please give it a like and consider subscribing!! Please reach out if you need anything else.

@@maximumoverland so the how would they compare to other MT’s such as the Toyo MT or KM3’s as far as road noise is concerned?
@maximumoverland
@maximumoverland 2 жыл бұрын
@@Builttolastdenali Another good question and I have several thoughts on it. The Toyo MT is by far the loudest, but the benefit to them is they are a fantastic tire and last a long time. On my F350 I got over 35k miles and it’s weighs 13k pounds !! Unheard of I assure you, most every MT it only gets around 19k. Now on the JL I got close to 45K. So with the loudness you get longevity because they are a really hard tire. The Km3 are a good tire , not the best by far and get louder and Louder as they wear. They chip pretty easily so that’s a good indication they are a little on the softer side.Then the Baja would be third in the group you asked about. Tire hardness and gapping between lugs is really where the noise comes from. The Baja is just a wonderful MT, like the best AT you could buy but with the MT prowess in the mud and slick rock. I hope I mentioned they are extremely good in the rain as well. Their sound is what it is, to me not to noisy but it never got any worse either like most MT’s do. To be honest , with the correct air pressure they reminded me of a Ko2 in most respects to noise, just a tad louder. I know it was long but I hope it helps. There is so much that goes into a good tire. If I’m to be fair I think they are great tires but I do lean towards certain ones. If I had my pick, it would be BAJA, TOYO then the KM3. Hey Ian thanks for jumping in here ! And I will say it’s a great comparison. I have a very good friend that runs the Geolander MTs on 2500 Denali what he wheels the heck out of and I have nothing but great things to say about them. The place where there is a huge difference is actual rock crawling and technically challenging climbing. The Baja Boss was made to shine in everything BUT crush the competition in the aspect. Side walls and really comparable, the tread design is very similar with their attention to void symmetry and depth, and longevity. But the compound difference in my opinion is where I believe the crawling changes. I do know that Rockstar garage that basically and exclusively all ran Baja Pro Xs tires for all their Great American Crawl rigs and contestants , have all moved to the Baja Boss. It’s their option and they’ve chosen almost in entirety to change over because it’s ability in all terrains. And remember they wheel the hardest stuff all across the US with extremely different rig builds. Ian I appreciate you jumping in here and talking the time to comment. The Baja bosses at 37’s almost measure the same height as the KM3 underweight … just a thought. Let me know more and I’d love to help you make a decision man for sure and thanks again.

@@maximumoverland I live in Southern California, I do the mountains and deserts around here, I have a teraflex 3 1/2” lift I’m waiting on to come in. It’s a basic kit, bought the lower front control arms,and their rear track bar relocation bracket, I also have a front steer smarts track in rout. I plan to upgrade the lift with the rest of the teraflex IR control arms in the future. Look up videos of pilot rock, that’s the kind of off-roading we do.

@@SuperSilence23 then I would hands down go with the Baja Boss MT…. They destroy rock, shell type mountain terrain and gen Right rips them in the king of hammers in the sand. I LITERALLY TELL YOU , you will not be disappointed, plus with a 31/2 lift You’ll have far More flex with a 3 1/2 inch lift and 37’s then you would with 39’s and definitely more up travel

@maximumoverland
@maximumoverland 2 жыл бұрын
So we only got to see a couple feet in NM with them. That was extremely easy , but as always I say an AT is always a better choice when going to snow. Packing up your tread works better then them cleaning out easily. Snow on snow works wonders. BFG KAo2 is a real good for that and highway but that’s about it. Sorry but I’ll stick with an MT because its better to have it and not need it and need it and not have it!! Rick thanks so much for watching and please consider subscribing.

@@downhill615 yes if you have the heavier ply, you need to go up in air pressure. That’s for a heavier vehicle, what vehicle do you have them on? If they’re getting hot, you may need to have them in the 65 psi range.

How do these compare to trail grapplers
@maximumoverland
@maximumoverland 2 жыл бұрын
So first thanks for stopping in. They are similar in a lot of ways but different in a couple as well. The TG is a hard ass tire, the MT is a softer compound so Aired down the MT are more grippy. The TG is a little harder so it takes a lot lower air pressure to get the same great I feel. Also that stuff goes to the road to, the Nitto feels rough on the road but will last longer, while the MT soaks everything up but wear a little faster. Mud they are about the same, but the MT is slightly better on wet asphalt. I hope this helps, you can’t go wrong with either. how loud are they compared to a bfg ko2 or a nitto ridge grappler?
@maximumoverland

Hey Ethan, far more capable than a Ko2 but a tad louder. Far out does the Ko2. Basically close to the same as the Nitto but again a little softer so a tad better in the rocks. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have anything else 👍🏼🙏

@maximumoverland
@maximumoverland 2 жыл бұрын
@@ethanspruill7539 They’ll give you about the same as a Ko2. The manufacturers says 50k, but I would really expect in the 40k range easily with proper tire pressure and rotation every oil change. The advantage is they are fantastic at just about anything you throw at them. That’s ok if you don’t, maybe that the next step, but you still need a good tire. I always say, be prepared , it’s better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. Hope this helps 🙏🙏
