After my original plan of returning to Oaxaca for Dia De Muertos went up in smoke, I had to come up with a last minute back up plan - Cuernavaca in Morelos!
Many of you had recommended that I came here in teh past when I visited Taxco, Guerrero in late 2018, so I thought it was time to visit! This video is the FIRST video of many in Cuernavaca for Dia de Muertos and is a FIRST IMPRESSIONS VIDEO (yes I actually have to highlight this as I do not do go everywhere in one afternoon!).
In this video we check out the central area, some of it's history (Hernan Cortes' Palacio is here), teh Jardin Borda, used as a retreat by Emperor Maximilian 1 and his wife in the 18th Century and we head slightly out of town to El Salto de San Anton an amazing waterfall!
Before you kick off in the comments, I looked up the pronunciation of Cuernavaca beforehand but still got it wrong because I'm stupid. Don't panic it'll be vaguely right in the next video.

The Cuernavaca catedral it's the oldest one not only in Mexico but in the entire America continent. It's from 1529. The Cortes Palace it's among the oldest constructions of this continent as well.

You would love Tepoztlan during Dia de Muertos. It's a little town about half an hour from Cuernavaca. It's beautiful but it gets really crowded during Dia de Muertos. It's better to arrive early. Whatever you have planned, I always enjoy your videos. Welcome back to México.

If you go to one museum in Cuernavaca go to MUSEO ROBERT BRADY It used to be part of the Cathedral, then a convent, then I forget, then this expat bought it and turned into his private home. He was a life-long collector of many things. After his death he left it in a trust for people to visit. IT IS AMAZING!

If you’re still in Cuernavaca, do yourself and find a way to go to the Casa de Cortez nearby, Cortez’s summer home (NOT the Museo de Cortez in the centro, but the actual house that he had just outside of Cuerna). It’s obviously very old, and much of it is in ruins, which are actually quite beautiful if you like ruins, and the gardens surrounding it are amazingly beautiful. There is also a restaurant there, but it’s quite pricey. It’s a beautiful place to stroll around for an hour or so. Sadly, no one doing videos has ever discovered it yet, and I think it deserves a mention.

Hola te arriesgarte mucho pues esa entrada está abandonada al igual que la entregada principal que viste más abajo, antes era un lugar turístico para pasear con la familia, ya que era muy bonito y limpio lugar el agua era clara y limpia. Desgraciadamente ya está cerrado pues está muy contaminado con los drenajes de la ciudad y ya no vale la pena ni conocerlo. saludos Tal soy habitante nativo de Cuarnavaca, y tengo 66 años y el mercado municipal a mi juicio es uno de los más sucios y horrendos y caóticos que puedas encontrar no te lo recomiendo, mejor conoce el parque ecológico Chapultepec, el nuevo Auditorio de Teopanzolco.

You know I've been travelling since 2016 and I've just circumnavigated the globe for the 2nd time in 2 years right? Of course I book the cheapest Airbnb! I'm not on holiday! I'm a budget traveller and prefer 'ugly' places to boring tourist attractions. Also, Jardin Borda and San Anton cascada are two of the main sites in Cuerna. If you want resorts in Vallarta, you're watching the wrong channel mate

Cuernavaca es bonito, pero está muy descuidado, muchísimos ambulantes, hay basura, no hay cultura de la limpieza. Las calles están bonitas pero sin mantenimiento... Lo digo porque soy de cuernavaca y aveces da pena que estén las cosas así.
