In polish Cracow is Kraków : pronounciation is like that KRAHK-oof. In polish Ó- looks like 'o' but you pronounce it as English /oo/, as in moon. This means it is pronounced just the same as Polish u.

Thanks we'll have to try and remember to pronounce it like that!

It is the largest medieval square in the world. The largest square is Plac Defilad in Warsaw at present. It is a sad post-war wound. The city center was not rebuilt. The remains of houses were demolished. Stalin built the Palace of Culture and Science there. Before the war, it was the most populous district in Europe. Visiting Warsaw should start with the Warsaw Uprising Museum. Only then will you understand this city.

American way sounds like German way , ergo rather not welcomed in Poland after Kraków was only by iccident not blown apart by Germans during 2 WW . It was VERY CLOSE , JUST PURE CHANCE . Germans putted trotyl all around these beautifull Polish heritage buildings but they needed to step back immediatelly from the russian Army . They hated us so much , our culture . They wanted us to be their slaves.

Fun as you can hear students practicing music, Throug the door look on the left ...lift to 6th floor...or run upstairs to the top floor. In Polish there are two letters U. There is U and there is Ó which we say is a U with a line. Both are pronounced identically as in English U. There is no rule when to use one or the other, some words are written with a U some with a Ó. The W in Polish, like in German, is pronounced as in English the letter V. So it’s KRAK UV in English. The UV is pronounced like the UV in the word “move” or m-uv. So it’s krak-uv
