​@@sfyn93 iya bro, saya orang makassar untuk perjalanan mulai dari pantai Losari ke pelabuhan Paotere kira" bayarannya cuma 20rb sampai 30rb rupiah, lalu berangkat lagi ke pantai akkarena dan Bosowa itu kira" 30rb sampai 40rb an lah, lalu kembali lagi ke pantai Losari kira" 10rb sampai 20rb an, harusnya mister luke bayarnya cuma 140rb atau paling enggak 150rb kan, lagi pula tukang bentor itu kalo minta 200rb sampai 250rb masih dikasih itu tanpa mister luke tanpa protes dan senang hati. Ramadan is the goat! Idk what that dude sitting with him in the barbershop was all about, but despite the kid not knowing any English, there was no hidden asking/begging or anything! Just a kid hustling his ass off & being super polite! It’s amazing how much you learn through your videos over time too, just vicariously. When you stopped at the port, my first thought was the 10k was inflated because you were brought there and they’d work out a little deal haha. Anyway, long comment. Long video, but it was enjoyable all the way through as per usual! 🔥

The best places to visit in South Sulawesi especially when you are in Makassar: 1. Toraja (from Makassar to Toraja, it takes 8 hours by bus). estimate price: 100.000-200.000 IDR. 300.000 IDR for a sleeper bus. 2. Tanjung Bira (Bira Beach): from Makassar to Tanjung Bira, it takes 6 hours by car. 3. Tebing Apparalang (it is a cliff like Nusa Peninda in Bali): from Makassar, it takes about 4-5 hours to go there by car. 4. Bantimurung (a national park with a waterfall and a kingdom of butterflies). It takes only an hour to go there by car. 5. Malino (a tea and strawberry garden). From Makassar to Malino, it takes 2-3 hours by car.

I grew up in Makassar but my hometown is in Bone 4-5 hours from Makassar. Great place, very nice people, and the food is just wonderful, Coto makassar, pallu basa, pisang ijo (green banana with syrup) etc, so yeah it's not the best place to start diet there you got a go all in😁, enjoy Luke!

A little empty in that area because it is hot mid-day and that whole section of town is still being built, that whole area was water 10 years ago, it's a massive land reclamation project with houses, apartments, shops, etc. planned. There is an area now near there with shops and stuff, but it really is popular on the weekend. People go to walk and check out some of the shops and stuff...

cheese is "keju"... ;-) Other Makassar specialties to try: nyuknyang (bakso unique to Makassar), mie titi, pisang ijo, sop saudara, sop pallubasa, any seafood (I'm partial to New Dinar Seafood Restaurant. Or to try non-streetfood versions of Indonesian food, try Kaya Rempah or Numerica 29 - both quite good.

update: should have watched to the end first, you found the same page... Can't really compare the bemo to grab/gojek because it takes them a lot longer. Traveloka gives the follow guideline: 1. Bentor * Advantages: Bentor or Becak Motor is a common public transportation for short distances in Indonesia. However, it is no longer allowed on major roads or in Makassar. This vehicle can accommodate up to two people and is faster than the traditional becak (pedicab). If you're looking for a unique travel experience while in Makassar, consider using the Bentor for transportation during your visit. * Fares: The price of a bentor ride depends on the distance to a destination. Usually, for short distances, the driver will set a price of IDR15,000. * Tips Before riding a bentor, it's recommended to inquire about the prices in advance to ensure a reasonable fare. So his 600K suggestion would be roughly 40 short trips, seems a bit much, as he wouldn't be able to find 40 fares in 2 hours... However, yes, rookie mistake, you must be out of practice. :)

Nice to see you back Luke. Congratulations on the fitness journey, I can completely relate to what you said. For over 10 years gym and sports was part of my identity and due to mental health issues and general life I stopped going gym and lost interest. Felt like I lost my identity and confidence and part of who I was. I'm recently back to the gym and starting to feel like my old self. I'm 39 now so it's slightly harder in the gym and takes longer to recover but its worth every second. Keep it up mate!

My reaction to Ramadan saying he was 16 was like everyone else in that barbershop. I thought he was 10 or something 😅 We can apply for driver's license when we turn 17 in Indonesia. Anyways, shouldn't he be at school at that time of day? 😔 The man who asked for 700k for the tour is clearly a scammer. In Indonesia, you can rent a car with a driver for the whole day for 500k. These crooks are the kind of people who bring nothing but embarrassment to the whole country, where honest workers like the people at the port, the guys at the dimsum shop, and even Ramadan and his family have to work hard to make ends meet.

Exactly, he was really trying his luck asking for 700k. I've been to Indonesia many times and 500k is the standard quote for an entire day (10 to 12 hours) of touring around in an air conditioned car! Even the 400k he asked for is steep, I feel.

Hey Luke, Name = Nama Age = Usia Tricycles used to be ruling in Indonesia, even in cities like Jakarta, Medan, Yogyakarta, Makassar etc. Jakarta tricycles were without machine and the driver seat in the back. There is no more tricycle allowed in Jakarta since perhaps 20 years or more ago. But there are still tricycles in Medan. The tricycles there are with motorbike on the side. And in Yogyakarta the tricycles are like those you take in Makassar.
