kumusta is just like the Spanish for how are you because we were colonized by Spain for over 300 yrs. if you've already been to Spain, you'll notice there are a lot of similar words that we share. English - how are you? Filipino - kumusta? Spanish - como estas? we have our own counting in Filipino or Tagalog but we also use the Spanish counting like uno, dos, tres, quatro, cinco, and so on...so using that is also okay.

That first neighborhood isn't really BGC. It's on the outskirts. But I'm glad you got to see Metro Manila's two main "downtowns" Makati & BGC. They're both nice but have different feels.

Next time try to negotiate first or asked locals in terms of transportation fares, Drivers should follow the standard fares to be charged that the government imposted but unluckily there are still who don't follow so better be careful with that. Hey Jing! Even though its the reality for them, in an ideal country - travelers and tourists shouldn't need to know the ins and outs of our transportation system. Its for our (useless) Government to ensure that its intuitive and easy to use enough for children, the elderly, people with disabilities, and tourists/travelers to use without getting confused, lost, or stressed. Look at Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, KL, Bangkok etc. We still have a long way to go in that regard. Its only the people here whose kindness and helpfulness will redeem the horrible ineptitude of our government. I wish one day we can be more like Thailand or Indonesia, which are more tourist friendly.

when you cross the street, make sure to walk on the pedestrian lane to avoid accidents or getting caught by the police or traffic enforcer for jaywalking. the rules here are not as strict, depending on where you are but they are still implemented. but just to be safe, follow the rules to be avoid hassle and accidents.

Glad you’re having fun! The Filipino smile is the most genuine. I just arrived from AMSTERDAM with a friend. We know taxi ride is Euro 20 to where we ere going. Before we hopped in, the driver clarified it’s Euro 20 per person. We did not take the ride. It was a scam at Schipol Airport!!!

a lot of tourist say bgc is like a little newyork of the philippines & if u never been to venice italy i highly recommend to go this mall called venice grand canal mall near bgc too this mall is absolutely beautiful & if u wamt more of history too go to filipino-american cemetery in bgc too.. stay safe & godbless❤️🇵🇭

In bgc you can go manam restaurant try sinigang and sisig… if you want nice view and good weather near metro manila try to go in tagaytay and eat bulalo…

Makati is the original corporate city in the ASEAN since it was the first to develop in the 50s. the other ASEAN neighbours just came long after that. Jakarta and Bangkok were big slums up until the mid-80s; Singapore was just a baby and had their independence in the 60s; KL just became famous because of the Petronas Towers. Just so you know Enjoy your travels there! Cheers from Spain.

This are some common words in English translation to tagalog/Filipino language. You can use it in any region here ìn Philippines. FYI Philippines has different dialect in every region but we speak tagalog all over the country. You can speak in combination of tagalog and English andin that way you can easily understand what are you talking about. It's ok to say no to people even if they're persistent bro. Sorry for the scammer experience, hopefully it doesn't happen again. Always ask around if you're not sure. Enjoy your stay. My recommendations are if you head up north for mountain region or south for the beautiful beaches.

This should get you started on your local foods adventure: Locals eat everything with rice 1) Lechon (not the paksiw you had in this vlog which is made from leftover lechon). 2) Sinigang 3) Sisig 4) Bulalo 5) Mang Inasal chicken 6) Adobo, chicken and pork 7) Any street food barbeque (when you see smoke from a sidewalk vendor cooking meat, try it with all the different sauces they provide provide) 8) Banana cue and Turon (caramelized deep fried banana, turon is wrapped and crispy while the cue is whole and unwrapped. 9) Try halo-halo, (translated as mix-mix) for dessert. For a one stop local dishes, try MANAM restaurant. However, some local mom and pop restaurants called carinderia or turo-turo could offer more authentic cooking. Yeah! That’s why be careful, especially in Metro Manila. Some taxi’s are scamming foreigners. But if you visit outside Manila like far provinces they’re more genuine they will help you without waiting for something in return.

Try to visit Boracay, palawan (puerto princesa, El nido, Coron), Cebu ( Canyoneering, whale shark diving @ Oslob), Bohol ( panglao, river cruise, zipline, tarsier, chocolate hills) Siargao and many more. Advice: Always ask for the price on different vendors or local transportation before you buy or ride. Or ask the locals around you for the price to avoid getting scammed. Most filipinos speak english. Enjoy the Philippines and welcome!❤

We’ve lived in BGC since 2007. Our favorite Filipino restaurants are Crisostomos, Manam and Locavore. The popular areas to go to, specially at night, are Burgos Circle, Uptown Mall and High Street. The Venice Grand Mall area is overhyped and not worth it to visit. The mall is actually half empty.

Hey guys. Great video. The Philippines is a wonderful country with an immensely difficult financial situation for many. Manila can be one of the worst spots because of the high cost of living and the poverty within. I completely understand your bad experience but just think of it as you guys are responsible, for just $13, letting him make a typical day's wage here. If you explore other parts of the PI, I'm sure you'll love the provinces. Warm, friendly and inviting people, who through it all keep a loving attitude and won't try and rip you off.
