Today Jake heads to the Sub70 Headquarters in Sycamore, IL to get fit for some new irons. He tests out the Sub70 Forged 659 CB v the Sub70 Forged 659 TC iron heads to figure out which is better for his game while chatting with Jason Hiland who is the owner of Sub70 Golf. After deciding which iron is right for his game the crew heads over to the Sub70 build shop to pick the order, add some custom touches, and take a look at how the set gets built up. This is part 1! Can confirm the build customization. I special ordered Mitsubishi OTi graphite shafts for my 659 CB irons. It was still a very quick turnaround. Like 2 weeks. They are such awesome irons.

My lone experience so far dealing with Sub70 was ordering a Sycamore 003 mallet putter, but with a custom Kotahi grip which I had to have shipped to them. They were happy to accommodate me and I was completely pleased with the entire process. Now I've got my eye on the 659 CB/TC irons and will soon be ordering some demo clubs to try out.

I found it interesting that MyGolfSpy tested a bunch of irons and the TCs were found by the testers to be more forgiving than the CBs. I'm not sure why, because the tech in the clubs would seem to favor forgiveness in the CB. I've been playing 699s and have been considering trying one of these sets. I wish I was in the Chicago area so could come in and play around with different heads.

I like the TCs more too! Idk what it is, they're just better for me. But that might be changing with the new line ;)

Nerdy build questions... Spine aligning and frequency analyzing for flex, are those things part of the build?

I supplied the shafts for this build and no I did not spine align them. They were frequency matched when they were sent to me.

dang i just ordered a CB AW because i’ve been struggling with my vokey and now i’m wondering if i should’ve gotten the TC instead.

I wouldn't worry about it! You're going to see TONS of improvement over the Vokey with the CB.
