HELLO MY SWEET FAMILY!
ENDLESS LOVE FOR & A WARM HUG FOR THE SUPER THANKS TO MY HEROES:
Rob K., StephaneSmarties, dano41 & Peter Buwen !!!
Your contribution means the world to me and helps me out way more than I could ever express! This really makes a difference! You make a difference! I sincerely thank you with every fiber of my being.
RAM SIDE I REACTION:
• REACTING TO RAM BY PAU...
I love everyone in this community and can only hope that everyone is having a great day. I know this video is now scheduled to go up on Thursday. It was actually supposed to go up on Wednesday, however something went wrong with the upload... I am not quite sure what went wrong. This is the second time this has happened with a video and I hope the last!
In other news, this past Tuesday, June 7, marked the 8th month of my father's passing and it was an extremely difficult day for me to hold it together. I wanted to let you guys know that thanks to so many of you speaking with me in the comments, sharing information with me and just having extremely interesting and kind conversations goes such a long way and without you guys I don't think I would be able to make it through this difficult period. So thank you from the bottom of my heart. When I say I love you guys, that means forever.

Awesome review, Crystal! You're the best! 🙌 To me this represents what McCartney does best. Simple and stripped down songs with an occasional Classic Rock type song thrown in the mix. Side 2 of RAM represents some of the best of his work as a Beatle (Yesterday, Blackbird, Long Tall Sally, etc.). Condolences on the passing of your father (I just read about it in the description). I lost mine a while ago but we still have good memories to hold on to. 🙏

Rob K. !!! You always know how to save the day!! Thank you for saving me! :,) My adoration for you is permanent! Great great great connections with Yesterday and Blackbird, I could see them fitting into this album with pure ease! And thank you for your condolences, I am so sorry to hear of yours passing as well. As I am sadly learning, the more time the passing the heavier the longing is. 💕 It’s kindness like yours that helps me to hold it together and to continue forward.

Those last couple minutes of outro from Monkberry Moon Delight just NEVER get old. Go back and listen again - I mean really listen! Paul "effortlessly" bounces up and down the scale in a way that has had me long convinced that he is in fact from some sort of parallel universe.

Heart of the Country is one of my faves too. And he started working on Back Seat of My Car during the Let It Be sessions. Could have been a Beatles song if they had stayed together. As it was, it took him a couple of years to fully realize the song. Thanks.

He’s a 68 yr old hippie who listens to Pink Floyd and The Beatles (and other 60’s early-70’s) music about 14-16 hours a day, every day since I was a child. Anyway, we are huge fans now of your videos and really enjoy your educated take on music he’s listened to for 55+ years, and 20+ for me. I’m working my way through your videos, the Beatles and their solo work first, then Floyd, an so on. Oh, Crystal, by the by... Remember how the Beatles had a habit of putting out non-album singles - songs recorded during a given album session but released separately as a single? Paul put out a non-album single from these sessions - and first post-Beatles release - called "Another Day" with the b-side "Oh, Woman, Oh Why". I was going to describe them, but I sense that you like to be surprised, so I'll leave it there.

My favourite McCartney album, Ram. Every time I hear it I'm in awe at how creative McCartney is. It's like there's so much music in him bursting to get out that it's like one tune is coming out of another tune in the same song, if that makes any sense. It's certainly not easy to get bored as each song twists and turns and takes on new shapes on this album. Such a shame that the album was slated on release by most critics and the other Beatles themselves, but then this was only a couple of years after The Beatles split, and McCartney was taking a lot of flak at the time (for no good reason) and extra hate because Jann Wenner of Rolling Stone was good friends with Lennon, and seemed to have a hatred of McCartney and made sure to spread it round. Thankfully McCartney's fans have always loved it, and these days it's being given the respect it always deserved. The fans are usually right, in the end. Great video again, Crystal, and have a fantastic weekend. PS. We do appreciate all the hard work you put into your reactions and videos, but don't burn yourself out!

I don’t know if this is deliberate but the spoken bit when you hear the dialogue “What is it?” sounds like a spot-on impression of George Harrison. Paul is known as being a great mimic. Eat at Home is a fantastic tribute to Buddy Holly’s style, especially the vocal hiccups. And back in the 80s, Paul bought the rights to the entire Buddy Holly catalogue.

THAT is the last time I EVER listen to Monkberry Moon Delight! I have avoided it for decades!!!! :P / Hey! You should double back and do his first solo album! "Band On The Run" is also a must! (the two between Ram and Band On The Run are so-so and very inconsistent) Inexplicable that people talked you out of reacting to "McCartney", though, his first out of the gate, a no brainer just for the fact that it would have been great to see you compare the three albums (the other two being All Things Must Pass and Plastic Ono Band) and see how each guy dealt with the break up of the Beatles! Which one would be your fave? We'll never know! ......OR/AND....you can just proceed to John's next album: "Imagine"! Great album! "Imagine" is, in part, a "reaction" to "Ram" as he interpreted the lyrics as being directed at HIM. ("Too Many People", "Dear Boy", "3 Legs") John didn't mince words and was VERY direct.....and downright insulting to Paul! He mocked the album cover and he wrote the infamous song "How Do You Sleep"! (which George played on! Oof!) To this day, that song is a sore spot for Paul, the lyrics are BRUTAL. It's a GREAT song, though, can't deny that! :D

Thank you for your words of strength and support. They mean a lot to me and help me to look towards the next day with hope, which most days I find difficult so I really need it! The Recording of The Album according to WIKI The basic tracks for the album were taped at Columbia's Studio B from 12 October to 20 November 1970 before the McCartneys returned to their Scottish farm for the Christmas holidays.Work continued at Studio B and A&R Recording Studios, New York from the second week of January 1971 through to February. Playing guitar or piano and singing at the same time, Paul chose to overdub his bass later on. Although it was a collaborative project, Linda's vocal duties were mostly limited to singing harmonies and backing Paul, who sang almost all of the lead parts. Linda sang co-lead on "Long Haired Lady".The McCartneys' daughter Heather, who had been adopted by Paul the previous year, sang backing vocals on "Monkberry Moon Delight". "Ram On", from the album's first side, was reprised on the second side before the album's final track, "The Back Seat of My Car". The New York Philharmonic was brought in by McCartney to play on "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey", "Long Haired Lady" and "The Back Seat of My Car", as well as the McCartneys' song "Another Day". "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" is in a similar vein to the Abbey Road medley, as the song consisted of several unfinished songs combined into one

Having done three solo Beatle albums, that just leaves Ringo, and naturally the obvious choice would be his 1973 "Ringo" album, and even though this is his third album Ringo always considered his 1973 LP as his first real album (hence the designation of his 1977 LP "Ringo the 4th" lol), and after all you can't leave loveable Ringo out, right? 🎶🎶🎶

You can hear a young Linda McCartney singing background vocals on this, like In Monkberry Moon Delight singing a call and response thing along with Paul and on almost every track on the album. She saved him from giving up during the Beatles Break up and afterward. We owe her so much for that as fans. She became an integral part of the Wings sound and we all miss her. For years Paul used to have a keyboard and empty bench set up on stage, lighted a little and a candle lit up during his performances. His current tour does not have this anymore. Paul is not sounding good vocally at age 79/80 this year, [frankly in the previous years as well] so the audience, with love, just doesn't care they just sing with him. And he tells stories/makes comments and makes them laugh. This may be his last tour, you never know. He will be 80 this year on June 18. He and Ringo Starr are amazingly tough old guys, they kick butt after all these years.

Paul at his playful best on this album. I don’t think his more wistful songs like Blackbird and Yesterday would fit (and later, songs like Waterfalls and Here Today). Here he’s doubling down on the side of him that adopts characters and has fun.

A lot of the songs sound so much better and fuller live. Even the Beatles song “Lady Madonna” sounds better and i know i’m gonna catch heat from that comment😄
