When my daughter brought me this CD 25 years ago, I listened to nothing else for 3 months. She was 15 and I was 35. OK Computer was a natural extension to my love for 70's prog rock. I went from this album to The Bends, and was not disappointed. Radiohead is a truly progressive band unafraid to experiment with tones, sounds, and vocals. Also Thom York's voice is perfect. And they seemingly don't care whether you like anything they make or not. Fearless they are.

I love how it picks up in response to his angst. Then that drop to the blended choir like voices. I get darn chills. Thom's voice haunts me. Then the riff at the end! It comes from the mind of a genius! I think this came from Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy.

This is one of those bands that keeps giving. The more you listen, the more you're pulled in. I remember when this first came out, my wife hated them! Every time I put them on, she'd say "Get them off, NOW!". But I persisted. Then one day out of the blue she said she loved them. She even bought the tickets to the last tour when they came here. So, those of you who may be initially turned off, give it a few listens, hopefully you find the beauty in what may seem chaotic. Enjoy!

So great watching you react to this... its such a ride. This song is a masterpiece. Thoms vocals are always haunting and Jonny Greenwoods guitar and melatron playing are supreme. I bought 'The Bends' and loved it, already in my head were one of the best bands to emerge from the 90s, then they released 'Ok Computer' cementing that belief. One of the few bands I had on my wall as an university student back in the day.

This song is absolutely a masterpiece. Can’t wait to watch your reactions to the rest of the tracks, especially “Karma Police”. There are too many Radiohead songs to mention when thinking of other songs for your channel. Anything from their catalog is worthy, to be honest. One that you absolutely shouldn’t miss, however, is “Talk Show Host”. Also check out Thom Yorke’s solo track “Hearing Damage”.

Love the acoustic guitar on this number. Imaginative switches in mood and instrumentation, interesting structure, all punctuated by the strange, almost eerie vocals that interweave through it. A genuine winner.

Pixies are well worth checking out considering their influence on Radiohead, Nirvana and Pavement. Bono and Bowie are huge fans, and Bowie said of their influence that the quote about Velvet Underground "while not a lot people bought their albums, those who did started a band" applies to Pixies as well.

Genius got the "unborn chicken voices" bit wrong. It's a simple double entendre really. Egg shakers. Ed/Phil were screwing around with egg shakers and other hand held percussion while Thom was trying to sleep. What's an unborn chicken? An Egg. Their voice is the sound the shaker makes.

I like this band okay but I prefer more listenable voices, lyrics I don't have to look up to understand, real melodies that will get stuck in my head long after the song is over. Radiohead is good at creating musical noise that sounds original but who wouldn't rather listen to John Wetton, Roger Daltrey, John Lennon, David Gilmour, Sinead O'Connor, Martha Davis (The Motels), Ian Anderson, Peter Gabriel, etc. I don't listen to this band much but I do have all their albums.
@jameshannagan78303 жыл бұрын
Me I would rather listen to Radiohead although I love Peter Gabriel try In Rainbows from Radiohead it is a bit more accessible and melodic my personal favorite although I love all their albums the Bends would work for you too.
