Allow me to give you a tip. I am a huge Thin Lizzy fan and have been since the mid 70's. When choosing a version of a Thin Lizzy song to react to, if there is a version of the song on their live album "Live and Dangerous" go with the live version. That album is consider to be one of hard rock's ultimate live recordings. The live version of this song is smoking hot.

The original guitar work for this song was recorded with Gary Moore, and then the solo was adopted by the band when it went to a four piece. Gary moore was in the band on many occasions helping out. Gary is the guitarist playing red house which you already reacted to when he did a cover of a Jimmy Hendrix song. These guys are one of the greatest rock bands in history. They have a large selection of songs you should check out. Enjoy!

​@Fahim Ahmad and he recorded this song for the album and left Thin Lizzy shortly after. It ended up on the album with Moore playing the guitar. They added a few overdubs afterwards but did not rerecord Moore's playing. Later versions, like the one on Live and Dangerous, were done by Gorham, Robertson or Sykes but this was Gary Moore. Who btw. should have writing credits but wasn't credited

That's because this was their demo track that got them the record deal but Gary Moore was gone by that time and Robertson and Gorham had joined the band. Fun fact: they had to lie about Robertson playing the guitar because the label bosses especially liked Moore's playing and telling them that he had left the band was a no starter. Robertson didn't want to rerecord Moore's stuff because he did not think that it could be improved...

This song is from Thin Lizzy’s soul album “Nightlife”. Gary Moore was playing guitar on the demo of this song, and they kept it for the album, despite the band at this point having two different guitarists - Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham. Sure, the later albums from this lineup are seen as “proper” Thin Lizzy, with the pinnacle reached with Live And Dangerous, I still think it’s worth accepting and acknowledging that Thin Lizzy made a soul album in 1974.

Phil Lynott was such a great singer and having Gary Moore supporting him on guitar always is special. My favorite Thin Lizzy song is one without Gary, though: Cold Sweat. Its about Phil's drug addiction Gary Moore and Phil Lynott were friends since their youth and frequently collaborated. The first band they played together in was a Blues band named Skid Row - yes, the Sebastian Bach hair metal band is named after them. Then Gary joined Phil in Thin Lizzy multiple times. And when Gary Moore embarked on his solo career Phil frequently joined him as a songwriter and vocalist, for instance on Parisienne Walkways or Out In The Fields. Both are fantastic songs. After Phil had passed away Gary released a few songs that were dedicated to him, he also mentioned him (sort of) in Blood of Emeralds. This one is the only song on the original album that has Gary Moore on guitar and it's noticeable

A "Thin Lizzy" is a very thinly rolled joint. My wife and I saw Thin Lizzy live about 10 times, they were a great band to see. And yes I'm showing my age, we also saw Queen 5 times. My Oldest daughter blames me for sort of naming our youngest grand daughter 3 years ago. When I held her for the first time I started sing the Thin Lizzy song "Sarah" to her, Phil Lynott wrote that to his own daughter, oops. When I was in the Royal Marine Commandos, we would get back from a posting and all you could hear was "The boys are back in town" coming from all the PA speakers at the Barracks. I still sing this song to my wife, badly, but she forgives me as we've been married since 1983, on her 18th birthday so I wouldn't forget the date.
